Music Discussion!

The Courtney Barnett discussion on the newest Frame Trap got me wondering what music other Allies are into! (I'm always looking for new stuff to listen to too so two birds with one stone.)
Myself, I'm a general alt rock nerd. Some of my faves: Los Campesinos!, PWR BTTM, Lights, Father John Misty (ben if ur out there look him up you'd like him), Big Scary, Miniature Tigers, The Vaccines, Hop Along, and Bear Hands. I also listen to a ton of showtunes and have been loving on the 2011 Anything Goes album and the Ghost Quartet cast recording!

Oooh! I knew this forum were missing something, just couldn't put my finger on it! But there we go! music!
I am quite broad in my taste of music. I listen a lot to metal and rock music, but I also love trance music of different kinds. Now and then I also put on music from games and films and just gets swept away. I am not a great fan of rap or "radio music" though.
At the moment I mainly listen to Millencolin and Bring me the Horizon.
However I STRONGLY want to recommend Troy Baker's album "Sitting in the Fire". Yes its the same Troy baker as makes voices to every video game character ever (except nathan drake). Its really really good!

I like rap, metal and rock, both in english and japanese, and some j-pop.

Yeah, I checked out Courtney Barnett today on the drive to work and I was really digging it.
I always find it hard to list off artists I like because there's just so damn many, so I'll just say what albums I've been spinning lately.
The Photo Album - Death Cab For Cutie
Helter Seltzer - We Are Scientists
Hummingbird - Local Natives
Vega Intl. Night School - Neon Indian
Transistor Soundtrack - Darren KorbSuper stoked for the new Gorillaz album coming out later this year, I hope it lights the world on fire.

I listen to a lot of stuff but I mostly listen to rock, classic rock, punk, alternative, plus some jazz and blues etc..
I'd say my favorite bands are Foo Fighters, Green Day, Tool, Fugazi, Led Zeppelin and PInk Floyd maybe? It's hard to pick.. also I'm a musician myself so there are bands that are really influential to me that aren't necessarily my favorites

For those curious this is the musician Ian mentioned - Mitski:

Youtube VideoBen compared Courtney Barnett to Nirvana, which was a bit odd to me. To my ear her music is closer to Indiepop and Shoe Gaze than Grunge. Flying Nun records is just a landmass across after all. Kurt was a fan of the Raincoats though, so it all comes around in the end.
This isn't my niche or 'owt but here's a female vocalist playlist, it's a theme y'know.

Fake Edit: Don't we have a music recommendation thread? Hasn't been touched for a while, maybe it could be merged?

My taste in music can be summed up as K-pop and Disco. But K-pop is pretty broad so I'd say my tastes are pretty open.
Basically if it's funky, I'm guaranteed to like it.My favorite artists are:
AfterSchool
Wonder Girls
Ladies Code
Stellar
EXIDEXID, Stellar, and Ladies Code I feel would do really well in the west, but AfterSchool is my all time favorite.

Well, here's my top 3 artists:
AC/DC (Hard rock)
Synergy (Analog synth)
The Rainmakers (Rock 'n' roll)
Among many other genres, I also like hardcore rave and...brutal death metal (listener discretion advised). XD

I have special place in my heart for Video game music, thus, bands like Machinae Supremacy, The Black Mages, Crow's Claw and Demetori are some of my favorite bands. But I do like other music as well. Bands and artists like Nightwish, Within Temptation, Scooter, The Prodigy, Swedish House Mafia (And solo careers that has followed the breakup), Alesso are on my playlist constantly. I do occasionally Listen to stuff like Kaija Koo, Apulanta and Popeda, but those are Finnish, and I'm fairly certain you don't care about them.
