@ThatJapaneseDude I was pretty obsessed with that True Survivor for awhile. Hoff at his best.

I have pretty broad and eclectic tastes. I pretty much like something in every genre except the most specific. Rap and country are probably my least liked, but even then I like artists in each of those genres.
I recently made a mix cd for my bf, so I've been listening to a lot of 80s and 90s. So Willy Deville, Crowded House, Madness, Erasure, Dire Straits etc.
I have also dived back in to Jpop/Jrock/anime music lately. A lot of classic B'z and Gackt, and Yoko Kanno soundtracks.
-
I'd say that my tastes are pretty broad and I listen to most genres of music. I do however tend to prefer rock, metal and electronic while seldom enjoying RnB, rap, country and jazz.
I also put a higher value on the music over the lyrics. It's rare that I will listen to a song because of the lyrics, in fact I tend to care very little about lyrics. Some examples of what I enjoy:
Lazerhawk - Overdrive
a-ha - Stay On These Roads
VNV Nation - Primary
Journey - Don't Stop Believing
Don Omar - Hasta Que Salga El Sol
Dark Tranquillity - Fabric
The Birthday Massacre - Red Stars
WORLD ORDER in New York
Deathstars - Cyanide
Metallica - Unforgiven
E nomine - Vater Unser

@Blueturtle Russian Roulette is such a jam! Love Red Velvet.

I love threads like this cause I'm always on the lookout for new music (stuff I've never heard) and never know where to find it...So keep the recommendations coming. I'm mostly into jambands (phish, grateful dead), newgrass (sam bush, leftover salmon, ymsb, string cheese), classic rock, and alternative/radio hits from the 80s and 90s.

Always fun to have music threads in a forum. While I enjoy most genres - if the first page or so is any indication on how this thread will go, I'll get a proper introudction into some things I never touch like K-Pop. Anyhow, I'm dedicating this post to Beach House - the dream pop duo from Baltimore.

There's some good stuff out there now. Recently I've been listening to Allen Stone and Mayer Hawthorne. Both just released new albums that are 10/10! They both have a real old school sound that I love. Besides that, I've been listening to the lonely island for some laughs. Links below.

I have always been a fan of metal, rock and the like, but I have a broad taste in music. Recently it's been all about intrumental bands like Scale the Summit and Strawberry Girls.
-
@crustef Mayer Hawthorne came to my school once for our twice-yearly concert, and it was a super criticized performance just because he "wasn't a big enough name." I've since listened to him some more and I actually really like his stuff!
For myself, it entirely depends on my mood. I listen to a lot of game and movie soundtracks while I work (lyrics tend to distract me). I'm also a huge classic rock fan. My favorite band ever is probably the ELO, and I'm also a big Billy Joel guy, love me some Bowie, Buffalo Springfield, Fleetwood Mac, plus a whole shitton of other classics. When I'm just chilling with some friends (like if we're doing a light pregame or something) I like some mellower music, Like BORNS or Edward Sharpe (also a good performance at my school!). Some rap and hip hop for when we want to start ramping up, and then the ultimate pump up song is "Mr. Brightside" by the Killers.

@naltmank that's awesome! And scre the haters, who cares if he isnt famous. He's better than most popular artists out there. Check out Allen Stone if you haven't. He's got a similar vibe going on, but a little less on the motown side of things
