An absolutely stunning Jrpg but I'm a little surprised to see it so low. I hold a certain trilogy higher actually, but I'm no longer expecting to see of them on this.
Smash Brothers Melee
I only played Smash on the N64 and it was enough to tell that the series, or genre for that matter, is not for me. I haven't bought any more since.
I enjoyed it, but it was a disappointment coming from F1 & F2 which I loved.
I bought this quite late, around 2011 if I recall correctly, I really liked it but I prefer Ecclesia.
I'm not a huge Srpg fan but this one was really good. I beat it once on the PS3 and recently just started it again on PS4.
Like Smash, I only ever played the original. This isn't for me so I've never played any later entries.

In Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings, the player takes control of one of thirteen civilizations, including the Chinese, Goths, Britons, and Vikings, among others. The player starts with a handful of villagers, through expansion and careful handling of the economy, the player can advance up to the point where powerful war machines and well trained masses of troops will be the player's to make and control.
There are three distinct ways to play, one of which the object is to hunt and kill the other player(s) king, however there are a lot of options for each, anywhere from what type of map to start on (including coastal, gold rush, arabia, and rivers) to what the maximum amount of units are allowed. Genre: Action Adventure
Platform(s): Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, XBOX 360, XBOX One, Mac OS
Desmond Miles, the last in the line of the ancient order of Assassins, has been captured by the modern-day descendants of the Templars, forced to experience past events through a device called Animus in order to obtain crucial information. However, one of the scientists unexpectedly switches sides, asking Desmond to put his trust in her hands and follow her out of the complex. Soon afterwards they escape the holding place and team up with some new allies that intend to use Desmond's knowledge against the Templars. Their new device is called Animus 2.0, an upgraded version of the original. This time, Desmond relives the life of Ezio Auditore di Firenze, a man who lived in Italy in the 15th century. Ezio is a boisterous, seemingly carefree young man who likes to pick fights and chase skirts. But all that changes when his father and little brother are publicly executed by a man he trusted. Driven by vengeance, Ezio begins to discover more about his father's life, and realizes that he, too, belonged to the organization of the Assassins. Ezio becomes a skillful assassin himself, and is ready to go all the way to avenge the death of the people he loved.
Assassin's Creed II is a free-roaming action game very similar in concept and gameplay mechanics to its predecessor. The events of the game take place in Florence, Venice, Rome, and other locations in Italy. Besides fictional characters, the game has famous historical figures from the time period, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Niccolò Machiavelli, Cesare Borgia and others, who play an active role in the game's story. Authentic cultural and political environment of the Italian Renaissance is represented in the game along with fictitious accounts of the events, alternate history, and metaphysical theories.

I have not played AoE, but I have some experience with Assassin's Creed. Funny enough, just not with II. I played the first and wasn't inspired to get the sequel. Played III because Native American during the Revolution? Sweet! Then I played the game. Not so much. I got IV strictly for being a pirate. In other words: I'm not an AC fan, but I also respect II being the consensus best of the series, so its presence on the list isn't shocking.
57. Age of Empires II
56. Assassin's Creed II
The last AC game I've played, surely a big improvement from the 1st but after it I just don't feel the need to continue playing the series, while the story was of my interest (I love the conspiracy shit) and the gameplay itself good, I didn't care much about the characters and the mission structure.
Ah, age of empires 2... Still my favorite strategy and the best one for years after its release. <3
57. Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings
I have SO many good memories with this game. Even though I didnt really play it online (except for some LAN coop from time to time) I loved trying the different teams and build their special units! I spent a lot of weekend evenings eating sweets and playing away. Custom games as well as the story... and I also still love the starting up film when they play chess <3
56. Assassin's Creed II
Don't even know where to start! I picked this up at a midnight release with a friend. Had played through the first one and loving it, I followed the development of the second game cloesly and expected a good game, but didnt know it was going to be THAT good. I felt so into the world. Following Ezio from his birth were something special, when climbing up the roof with his brother and the title got presented on the screen, I got goosebumps and thought to myself "I am in for a real adventure here". I was soo right. Learning to know Leonardo, building up the city and becoming stronger and better as the plot developes... magical! <3

Hang on here, did Assassins Creed 2 really beat out MGS 2 and 4? I'm glad I'm sitting down for this.
I have fond memories of AC 2, the movement and kills were sweet but I can't recall many Gameplay moments that really had me engaged. You might call the combat good but not great, stealth seemed simplistic without a crouch button. I guess it did a number of things well.
One thing I can't forgive are the performance issues and bugs, it ruins the feel of the game to me, just feels unclean.
I guess I'm trying to compare this Metal Gear Solid 4, where I had so many intense and remorable gaming moments, it just knows how to engage my brain so I'm fully focuses and invested with what's going on, it's something that'll stay with me for a long time,
AC2 Musical score and Introducing the ability to disarm enemies and use their weapons was awesome.

The greatest highlight in AC II (and in Brotherhood too) for me was the setting! Renaissance Florence and Venice were so atmospheric i was totally immersed into the world. The OST was excellent too!

Age of Empires II... whew, I spent so many hours with that game, I'm a little ashamed that I didn't include it. Great to see it represented here though.

AoE2 makes perfect sense to me, but Assassins Creed is really surprising, the game is fun but I would never consider them for my list even at their best.

Was never a huge AoE guy, but it did spawn Age of Mythology, which I did play a ton of growing up.

Very surprised to see Valkyria Chronicles here, especially so high. I never realised it was that popular, it's making me curious to try it (after Ben's review of the HD remake already tempted me).
Very cool to see Civ V and Age of Empires 2 represented in there as well, strategy is not my favorite genre so I can't speak for those games much, but they do seem to be the best in their respective categories (turn-based and real-time). Aaaaand I just realised I forgot to put one game on my list: Age of Wonders (1 or 2). Man I loved that game!!
And finally, happy to see some love for Assassin's Creed, after the last few games it seems like everyone has turned their back on the franchise, so it's nice to know that a couple lacklustre episodes didn't overshadow the accomplishments of the previous games.
Also gonna add that Assassin's Creed 2 were my first Platinum trophy! Once I had finished the story I just had a couple of collectibles left, so did that in like 40 min with a guide and BOOM! :D
