The EZA Top 100 Videogames!

  • @SabotageTheTruth All on your list? ;-)

  • @Brannox No sir! Just 3 of them. Trust me, I'm going to be hurling all sorts of rotten vegetables if Ocarina gets anywhere close to the top spot.

  • Uncharted frigging 2 in the top quarter of this list, yes! And I have the highest vote (together with Faaip). Such a great game, the characters and the story moved up to a totally new level after the first one (which is still a fantastic starting point, love that too). The graphics and their details from the Nepal levels onwards were breathtaking, and that train level simply masterful. And by the end of the game it really dawned on me just how great and human Nate and Elena were as characters. That final banter is the icing on the cake. :' )

I think I voted for all the Uncharted games, but at this point I'm only waiting for the last one to make an appearance anymore. I mean, how could it not? It's... it's perfect.

  • @SabotageTheTruth I can understand why so many like Ocarina of Time, but I say it's vastly overrated. Yes, I said it. It's a good game, but not nearly as good as many of you Zelda fanboys say it is.

  • @SabotageTheTruth Well, when throwing said vegetables, you can claim it as revenge from any tomatoes hurled your way for your Tactics speech. :-D

  • @jipostus Nostalgia is a hell of drug.

  • @SabotageTheTruth Yeah... But again, Ocarina of Time is not a bad game by any means, If anyone says that, that's just a troll comment. But it's far from that perfection as so many fanboys says it has achieved.

  • Wind Waker is a "My First Zelda". Very easy. All of the regular enemies and most of the bosses are pushovers, and most of the dungeons are linear with too obvious puzzles. The gameplay matches the (admittedly well executed, at least in the HD port) art style. The only part that gave me any trouble was the Savage Labyrinth, which was done better in Twilight Princess as the Cave of Ordeals.

Pretty good soundtrack, at least. Not nearly as catchy or timeless as the OOT, MM, or even LTTP soundtracks, but there are some charmers:

I'm surprised by both of these. That Arkham City made it at all, and that Majora's Mask wasn't higher.

Surprised that Arkham city made it all? Out of curiousity, why?
It always seems to be pretty well regarded, and quite a few of us put it on the list.

  • @Oscillator said in The EZA Top 100 Videogames Countdown!:

No other Zelda has anywhere near the level of storytelling as Majora. It's heavy.

Lol, Twilight Princess has a scene very similar to Majora's dead-guy-gives-you-his-mask/soul set ups with Ralis's dead mom (among others).
"Anywhere near," ha! Zelda fans are silly.

Anyway, glad Skyrim got on here. Not stoked for the Souls games to ride their wave of popularity into the top 10 or so.

  • I voted for Ocarina of Time pretty high. Come at me bros. Last Zelda game I even finished.

  • Kingdom Hearts being 53 makes me sad.

Honestly surprised the Halos aren't higher, I'm one of the most anti-xbox people you'll ever meet and I'd still put Halo 3 deep in my top 15 games of all time.

Not gonna be happy when Ocarina of Time scums its way into a super high spot purely because it's on everyone's list somewhere around the top 20, but will be happy when the same thing happens to Dark Souls because it's infinitely better than the stuff it's beaten so far.

  • @Inustar

My surprise isn't based on anything concrete, now that I think of it.

I don't like the game, so I suppose that has some effect, but excusing that, it just never comes up when I talk to people about games. It just seems like the sort of game most people accept as good and kind of move on from if that makes any sense? I find it's more regularly talked about as a piece of Batman mythos (among many) than it does a superlative game in its genre.

  • I just went through and looked at my list of game to see what platform I first experienced them on, this is my result from most to least:

PS3, PC, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, and then a tie between NES, SNES, N64, Arcade, Android, PSVita, and Ps4

So Apparently PS3 is my favorite console.

  • @Oscillator I did my part! I have Majora's Mask as my second favorite game. c:

  • @SabotageTheTruth well i know its getting at least 1 first place vote

  • bioshock-was a game i wanted to like, everyone praised it. i got it on ps3 for cheap one time and tried it while i liked the setting first person games just arent my thing. and while its one of the better fps's i played it just wasnt my thing.

Final fantasy 6- a game i just didnt enjoy that much, while i liked it more then 8(i hate that game ) it felt clunky and slow but that may have been the platform i played it on's fault ill try to get a snes copy or a gba copy and see if it fares any better

uncharted 2- a great game just the second worst in the series they games each got better as they went.

    31. Dragon Age: Origins
This is a game I really TRIED to get through, multiple times! It got everything I should love. Heavy story, cool characters and swords and magic. Im not sure what really put me off, I think that everytime I started the game, it was always at a really bad point when things all of a sudden got noisy around me and I had problems catching up to the story. Another problem I had were that I started too many sidequests and only played half way through on them. Then I never liked the graphics - even though I know what they say "playing a game for its graphics are like watching porn for its story".

    29. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I am not sure how many hundreds of hours I have spent in this game... I remember that a friend actually bought this to me as a gift on release day. I played as a Nord (kinda had to play something already representing me so well in a game) and I thought I had played like 4 hours when I looked at the clock and it was way past midnight. This world are so well built. It is as vast and open as many huge games, yet it never feels empty! I rather run to next place just to be able to suck in and explore a bit more of the world rather than fast traveling. I still haven't finished the main story haha. I always said "if there were a remaster I would buy this day 1", but now I dont think that I have the money for it - But perhaps after christmas I can dive in and fall in love with this again.

    28. Final Fantasy Tactics
I tried to like this... I really did! I tried this and war of the lions on the PSP. I just couldnt... Maybe I wasnt cleaver enough at the times I played it, but the tactic battles just drove me crazy. I love the "main" series of FF, but tactics never appealed to me - Im sorry.

    27. BioShock
The only other Bioshock game, apart from Infinite that I have played. I remember that I thought this game had a really creepy yet cool atmosphere around it and the gameplay were really cool of its time. However, as I stick to 1 game per franschise and I got more blown away by Infinite I had to cut this from my list.

    26. Final Fantasy VI
This intro still gives me goosebumps when I watch it. I remember seeing this and be like "huh.. I wonder how the older FF games are..." Then being blown away by it. It is in my top 3 FF games. It has music, characters, story and a world that is fun to run through. Despite its age I think its worth for ANYONE that havent played a FF game to give this a try.

    25. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
I recently played through this for the first time in my life as I got the nathan drake collection. I know that a lot of people praise it (just look at the votes, durr). I couldnt really pull myself to like the combat in this game, which is a big part of it. This would of made my list if the combat would of been better. It has everything else for it. Characters that are some of the best written and acted I have seen, Nolan North are my hero! The story are awesome and it got a nice indiana jones vibe to it with cool action and fun platforming. I also got amazed over how good the animations are in this game. Its a really good game and I can see how Drake became a symbol for the Playstation brand - But yeah just fell short for me due to the combat (please dont hate me).

  • 27. BioShock
Good game, yeah that's all I have to say really, lol.

    26. Final Fantasy VI
Great JRPG, I only recently replayed it on GBA and it still holds up pretty well, if Square wouldn't have been so anti europe back in the days and this might have been my 1st FF I might would rank it higher thanks to nostalgia.

    25. Uncharted 2
Ugh, just glad it's not in the top 10 as I would have expected, but 4 probably is.

    24. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Besides the tedious wind changing another great Zelda game, and since the Wii U version eventually gives you the option to dismiss the wind changing, it's the superior version.

  • @Lotias Uncharted's combats is probably its biggest flaw, but for me it's not that bad. And your not hated, as that is a legitimate critique of the games. I don't play Uncharted for the combat, but for the story. Each game has a self-contained tale that is enjoyable enough for me to overlook said combat.
