Selective Creation: Build the Necessary 25 Gamecube Games List!

  • Now that shooters are out of the way, let's get back to what is the bulk of Kill Your Babies!: Consoles! And this time, Nintendo has been sitting on the sideline long enough. This list will be give the essential 25 games of a console that, at the time, wasn't viewed very well, but history has kindly looked upon: the Gamecube!

SO: As always - Quick rule refresher for potential new players:

Here's the breakdown: You've been given the power to green-light 25 games, but here's the catch: these 25 games will be the ONLY games the Gamecube will ever have. What should be the games that make the cut? By giving 25 select titles, you are essentially playing an inverse of Kill Your Babies.

You can only give one title per game, then you can give one for every three people that have added after you OR 12 hours have passed since the last addition, so think really hard about which game should be on the list. It could be your favorite game, or if your favorite is already present, then you can add another you hold dear. If you're not a fan of the Gamecube in general, then get to trolling if that makes you happy.

Also, to keep things a bit diverse, I'm instituting a TWO per franchise cap, so if two games of a particular franchise are on the list, a third CAN NOT be added.

Once you have given a game, please keep a running list going for the benefit of the next person that would like to play. Because I'm pitching the game, I will refrain from adding a game because it would be unfair for me to skew the list in my favor.

And so Allies, what are the 25 Gamecube games every gamer should have?

    Have fun!

  • Paper Mario and The Thousand Year Door

    Masterpiece

  • Beyond Good & Evil as I feel I'm legally obligated to mention it at least once a week.

If not allowed then the gamecube version of Phantasy Star Online for its 4 player split screen coop

  • Paper Mario and The Thousand Year Door
    Beyond Good & Evil
    Mario Kart Double Dash

    Best Mario Kart ever imo!

  • Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
    Beyond Good & Evil
    Mario Kart: Double Dash
    Pikmin 1

Miyamoto's next big (well, sorta big) franchise. Fantastic original puzzle/strategy game. Oozes with charm and atmosphere.

  • Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
    Beyond Good & Evil
    Mario Kart: Double Dash
    Pikmin 1
    Eternal Darkness

One of the best horror games of the 6th gen, great use of the sanity system especially when you play it without knowing much about it.

  • Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
    Beyond Good & Evil
    Mario Kart: Double Dash
    Pikmin 1
    Eternal Darkness
    Resident Evil

It's one of best horror games ever made, and surpasses the original in just about every way. Plus, Lisa Trevor still haunts my nightmares!

Apologies for not reading the rules last time!

  • Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
    Beyond Good & Evil
    Mario Kart: Double Dash
    Pikmin 1
    Eternal Darkness
    Resident Evil
    Kirby's Air Ride

The most fun you can have with friends on the Gamecube. Seriously. I put hours into this and unlocked everything.

Also @Brannox , you have to edit the first post so it doesn't say shooters anymore ;o

  • @parasitepaladin Thanks for the catch!

  • Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
    Beyond Good & Evil
    Mario Kart: Double Dash
    Pikmin 1
    Eternal Darkness
    Resident Evil
    Kirby's Air Ride
    Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles

Even though it's expensive as heck to set up with all the GBAs and cables, it's completely worth it once you get into it with your friends.

  • Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
    Beyond Good & Evil
    Mario Kart: Double Dash
    Pikmin 1
    Eternal Darkness
    Resident Evil
    Kirby's Air Ride
    Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles

    Metroid Prime

Not sure how it took this long to make the list. Probably the GameCube game I played the most.

  • Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
    Beyond Good & Evil
    Mario Kart: Double Dash
    Pikmin 1
    Eternal Darkness
    Resident Evil
    Kirby's Air Ride
    Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
    Metroid Prime
    Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

It's truly a shame that copies of this game are so expensive currently, because more people really should experience this gem. This entry (and its sequel) is the pinnacle of the series, offering amazing characters, map design, and story. I know most people cut their teeth on Awakening, and that game rightfully receives great praise. However, those fans really owe it to themselves to play Path of Radiance. Let's hope Nintendo supports GameCube titles with a Virtual Console!

  • Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
    Beyond Good & Evil
    Mario Kart: Double Dash

    Eternal Darkness
    Resident Evil
    Kirby's Air Ride
    Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
    Metroid Prime
    Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
    Tales of Symphonia

Maybe not special for americans but it was the 1st Tales game released in PAL regions at time we still had to worry if we get a JRPG that is not FF, also great game with mostly lovable characters.

I also took away the 1 from Pikmin since the game's title is simply Pikmin.

    Metroid Prime
    Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
    Tales of Symphonia
    Super Smash Bros. Melee
Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader

It's one of the best Star Wars games ever made with amazing controls, visuals and sound design. Not to mention you get to jump in the cockpit and take part in some of the best moments from the original film trilogy. It's easy to learn but hard to master and the medal system keeps you coming back for more!

    Tales of Symphonia
    Super Smash Bros. Melee
Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader
Phantasy Star Online: Episodes I & II

One of my favourite games of all time! It builds on the base that was the Dreamcast version and adds a whole load of new awesome stuff on top of it including a whole new set of levels to explore and loot. SO MUCH LOOT! Some of my best gaming memories come from this ahead of its time online game and the Gamecube version is the best console iteration of the title.

Not the best Zelda, but definitely a lot of bang for your buck. GC had the superior version - we don't need no stinkin' motion controls!
