Kill Your Babies!: Cross Off from the 'Cube!

  • Kill Your Babies! has returned and I believe Nintendo has had enough time away from being the target of merciless slaughter. The essential 25 Gamecube games have been given, now it's time for them to be crossed out and killed. Here are the rules for a refresher or for new players:

Rule #1: When you make a kill, give your reason why you are killing. Just taking it out isn't all that inspiring. Whether you truly dislike it, you strike out of revenge, you feel that there are other important titles that should have made it, or you have legitimate critiques, explaining your kill is necessary to validate its death. Yes, even to those of you who kill because they're good (Because that makes sense :joy: )

Rule #2: Please keep the updated list for the benefit of other players. Cross through your kill to identify what's been chosen.

Rule #3: You may kill another game after only three other people have made a kill OR if 12 hours have passed. This should be plenty of time for others to get involved.

Rule #4: If you fail to give a reason, make a 2nd kill without allowing the time to pass/proper amount of players a turn, or if there is an unforeseen issue up for potential review, your kill may not be recognized. This rule is subjective to the situation and hopefully will not be implemented.

Rule #5: Per normal, we will have a straw poll for the final two. Please vote for the one you want to win, not lose.

Let me know if you have any questions. Your kills are your own, so please, be vicious, be remorseless, and most importantly: HAVE FUN!!!

Partially because I'm a monster, but also because I feel like this iteration had the weakest overall track design. A couple diamonds in the dirt, but not the greatest overall. Sorry, guys. I just needed to rip this band aid off first.

I've just never gotten into the Tales series. I bounced off Symphonia so fast because I just found it incredibly shallow and generic for a JRPG.

    Rush-job chibi sandbox bullshit.

The best Zelda certainly is not on this list — y'all tryhards killed it.

  • @Haru17 Straight up, I was planning on revenge killing Twilight Princess after your choice to fuck with you but @thenerdtheword beat me to it
What a world we live in, right?

  • The problem with a list like this is that I'd be killing a small part of myself with every strike... Maybe I'll just sit back and cry through the carnage this time.

I love me some old school survival horror and Eternal Darkness always seems to get brought into the conversation of the best of the best. I never owned it but a streamer I enjoy recently took the plunge with this game and wow... how does this game get any praise? The atmosphere can sometimes be slightly foreboding but there's so much bad here. It's jam packed with combat arenas, the combat itself is slow and clunky, the guns are useless (yet ammo is EVERYWHERE), and the puzzles are trials of tedium. I'll concede that this may have been a little scarier back in the day, but it's aged extremely poorly. People still praise the sanity effects and while some of them are good for a laugh, it doesn't actually add anything to the "horror" of the game. Seeing a character walk into a room, having all the furniture be upside-down in the room, having the character scream, "THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENINGGGG," and then making that character appear outside of the room in a strange transition isn't scary and loses its charm quickly - I've seen it happen 6 times now. Add in the fact that environments are constantly repeated (under the guise of playing different characters in a family's timeline) and you get an absolute mess of a game that is only praised for its gimmick. I kill you with all the vitriol in the world, Eternal Darkness.

I'm not a huge Zelda fan but it's a shame to see two of the better ones go so quickly. C'est la vie.

This is literally a game for babies. You only need one button to play it, and it has almost no depth. Its one redeeming feature is the soundtrack.

  • @naltmank A monster you are.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
    Beyond Good & Evil
    Pikmin
    Eternal Darkness
    Resident Evil

There simply are too many games I want to win on this list to not kill off one I have not heard of. It may be great, I do not know, but bye bye Baten Kaitos.

  • @naltmank said in Kill Your Babies!: Cross Off from the 'Cube!:

your choice to fuck with you

    I'm confused.

  • @Oscillator You absolute monster.

Normally I would start with games I havn't played but this needs to die ASAP, imo it's not only the worts 3D Mario game, I think it's a bad game overall, I gave it several tries and I just can't enjoy it, fuck FLUDD the stupid gimmick.

It has to be Odama. Whilst I applaud it for trying something different, it's just not as good a game as any of the others on the list. And also, the GameCube Microphone could be temperamental at the best of times.

The funny thing is that with the rest of the list, I feel like Moe Szyslak in the Simpsons when they show the destruction of his bar in the episode Bart's Comet. So, altogether now: "OH DEAR GOD NO!"

P.S. Eternal Darkness seems to have remained on lists even though @SabotageTheTruth crossed it off.

Good as it may be, this game is a bit of a meme around here. Don't need any memes winning any games. Plus, don't need a Mario game on top of another Nintendo list.

I have repeatedly been beaten by a seven year old at Smash Bros. I believe at one point it was like 46-1 in favor of a person who still believes in Santa. I will not let it go further.

  • Okay, how do I say the following:

1.) Yes. Yessss. Let the Hate flow through all of you. Your evil monstrous side and video game atrocities sustain me. Mwahahahahahahahah (Happy early Halloween) :joy:

2.) @SabotageTheTruth For your first kill, excellent post. Your passion comes off the screen and was a joy to read.

3.) Wind Waker > Twilight Princess. There. I said it.

  • Good gravy, let me vent a bit... Kirby's Air Ride has a lot of depth; one-button control schemes can be utilized more creatively than multi-button ones; Sunshine is my favorite Mario game EVER (I have many many arguments for this); when a Mario game is as good as Paper Mario, it definitely deserves a spot at the top of lists; and I am super sad to see Custom Robo and Melee die. Sorry for the rant, guys. L&R.
