  • Easy Ally

Hyaku Shiki is actually my favorite Gundam design. I'm eyeballin' that MG Ver. 2 for the next one I buy (2 to build first though! thanks @Minamik )

  • @Bosman Yeah, there are a lot of options for Zeta stuff. I thought about getting just the high grade Psycho Gundam, but I don't have anywhere to put something that big, haha.

  • @Otter Yeah, I guess so. Though, the HGUC Delta Gundam looks pretty good as far as the gold plating is concerned.

Oh for sure. That things gold plating is beautiful. Especially for an HG.

  • Also, now that a good amount of the allies have model kits to work on. I wonder if Brandon would enjoy one of the Bandai Star Wars kits.

  • @Otter I believe that someone sent him a Charizard model kit, lol.

  • I'm curious what you guys do for displays?

I have grand plans for an epic display of all my odds and ends/movies/games but don't really have the space or the means to do it right now.. I love seeing good displays though!

  • Sadly, I won't be able to finish all the cool shoulder stuff on this guy for a couple months, since I won't have access to my brother's airbrush. I've finished, the main body though. This is the first kit I'm airbrushing, and I've tried some other techniques for the first time (like the reverse wash for the trimming on the right hand).

I've just got a cheap bookshelf that I just try to cram everything on to. For stands, I use some cheap fence-post wood that I chopped up with my dad's woodworking tools. I then drill a hole into them and stick a barbecue skewer into it, since I've found some that were the perfect size for mounting Gundams.

  • I finally got my other set of real touch markers and some Zeon water slide decals in yesterday, so I should have a few updates finally coming.

I'm feeling really pleased so far with my Gouf.

Do you guys think a gloss coat would make my Hyaku Shiki a little nicer, or should I just leave it as is?

I've gloss coated some stuff that I've painted gunmetal grey and it looks really nice, but I'm not sure how it'd look on gold plastic. I'd say go ahead and give it a try. If you don't like it, you can always flat coat over it to remove the effect.

  • @Funso I'm the same way.. I have a bookshelf that I try to fit all my books, games, movies, and knick knacks on. Someday I'll have space for it all

  • @Funso Actually, I'm gonna try dry brushing with gold paint and then flat coating it, to make it look like someone threw an ugly coat of yellow on top of what's supposed to be gold, lol.

  • I might have overdone it a bit on the weathering, but I had fun with these.

Well, Ms. Aina. The Kerguelen will have to leave without me. I have found the place I am to die."

  • @Minamik The weathering looks great man! You can never overdo it, that's how they'll look if they've seen enough battle :D

  • I want this so bad!

  • In honor of the EZA Gunpla stream I figured I'd post my most recent builds, Barbatos Lupus and Gusion Rebake Full City:

  • @Funso Dewd...epic! :p

I want to do more, but game releases being how they are, it might not be until summer that I get around to buying more kits.

  • Today's stream threw me for a huge nostalgia loop. Built these things all the time ages ago in pretty much the same environment, just chilling out hanging with my brother. My remaining collection is pretty scattered.

  • Lol, I love how you've got all those crazy things mixed in there, and there's just that random GM. Poor grunt suit.

  • Haha yea, I never really watch Gundam, pretty much just Wing for me, but I loved building them so would just buy whatever looked sweet. The epitome of this is the largest kit we've (my brother and I) built from Zoids, a show neither of us even heard of until we saw the box.

    3DSXL for comparison

In fact, my favorite mecha show growing up wasn't a Gundam at all. It's called Zettai Muteki Raijin-Oh and is probably the single most entwined entity with my love of mecha. Not only was it an awesome show in its own right, but also it was most often the show I was watching while building. Frequently, I'd be watching the show while building the kit of the titular mech! Wish I still had one around to show, Raijin-Oh is like a mini Power Rangers/Voltron mech that combines three smaller ones into the main dude. Blew my mind how well the kit translated the onscreen transformations into a build-able toy.
