Mobile Suit Builders

Hi, fellow allies. I've just made my first model since I was in high school. It's a Real Grade Char's Zaku II Custom. I wanted to make this thread to show off any other models I make, and for any of the rest of you to share what you've made. (It doesn't have to be related to Gundam, just model kits in general.)
-
You'll never guess what this mobile suit is. :p
-
Oh, snap! It's a Gundam! (The RX-78-2 Gundam to be specific. Real Grade. Still need to apply decals, panel lines, and top coat.)
-
I'm looking forward to this thread

Nice work! I used to be really into making models when I was younger, but its been awhile since I worked on one. Over the past few years I've really gotten into building and collecting replica movie props (mostly Star Wars stuff) and that uses similar skills I suppose. I might have to find a new model to work on now :D
-
@Faaip They've really improved in recent years. Would love to see some of the stuff you've built. After all, I only named it a Gundam theme cause that's what I'm working on, but would love to see other stuff people have built.

I ordered 3 more on Monday, one which I think you'll appreciate. :)

Just another cool hobby I wish I had the money for.

You can get some pretty cool kits from around $13 to $20. Not quite as pricey as video games, lol.

I've been going back and weathering kits I made a while ago. I was initially scared to do it, but there are some really easy techniques. I think anyone new to model making should check out this playlist. Anyway, here's all the kits that I've gone back and detailed/weathered:
-
@Funso I've been using the Real Touch markers for panel lining, and they're a bit big for these real grade kits, but you do get a tiny bit of weathering from any tiny smudges you leave behind from wiping them off.
-
The RX 78 Revive - Featuring poor camera quality.
-
@Funso Weathering is always super scary for me, though it can make a huge difference and it can be fun to create the "story" of your model through it. Those kits look great by the way!
Speaking of weathering.. I just finished working on a new Star Wars prop. Nothing like taking a dremel to such gorgeous parts that others worked hard to make :D

@Faaip That looks amazing.

Thanks guys!

Finally got around to picking up some clear matte paint today, along with some metallic paint pens, and some really tiny brushes...I also grabbed a pack of dowel rods, but didn't find any alligator clips or a block of foam.
-
@Minamik I've been trying to grab some matte spray for a reasonable price for a while. It's unfortunate that they're so hard to find for MSRP in the States.
-
I was looking into buying one the past weeks, it has been a long while. Anyone has any recommendations on where is your go to place online to buy them?
-
@Otter Well, the stuff I got isn't specifically for models, but I'll be testing it on something else before using it. Wasn't too bad at $3.89 for 12oz.
