Mobile Suit Builders

@edsortiz Someone who's been doing this longer probably has a better idea, but I've been getting them from places like Amazon and Hobby-Link Japan. Prices can vary a bit from place to place, so I recommend finding something you want, and then shopping around.
-
@edsortiz I usually buy from either Amazon or Hobbylink-Japan. Hobbylink generally has the better prices, but shipping can be expensive if you aren't buying a lot. If you want to support a local hobby shop, they generally have them as well, but are generally a bit more expensive than Amazon.
Also, once you find a kit you like, I'd suggest looking it up at 1999.co.jp/eng/. They have better pictures of the kits than most sites, along with pictures of the uncut-runners and instructions.

Would love to try building this once I get more experience. I imagine due to it's age, it'd require a good bit of work to make it look nice though. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Bandai-Escaflowne-Guymelef-Alseides-Series-011-Limited-Figure-Model-Kit-/122045583291?hash=item1c6a7bcfbb:g:nZUAAOSwAPlXh9Dn
Escaflowne was my first anime!

This is what I bought for top coating. I'm gonna test it on something else, but hopefully it works out.
-
@Minamik If you have any leftover sprues those are the perfect thing to test on.
-
@Funso Just what I was thinking, lol.
-
@Minamik I know some people have mentioned Rustoleum in other Gunpla forums I frequent. Let us know how it turns out on the good ol Bandai plastic.
-
Welp! The Zaku II just got top coated....we'll see how this turns out. I'm expecting the worst from my first attempt. :p
-
Bit of cleaning up to do, but essentially it's done.

Got three new kits in today! The Gundam is on hiatus until my other set of real touch markers arrive. Not putting on the decals before panel lining this time, cause as you can see I got smudges around some of the above decals, and that you can't fix that.
-
@Minamik Looks great, I'm gonna have to get a real grade one of these days.
-
@Funso Haha, fortunately there isn't too much else in that grade that interests me at the moment, so the three I picked up are just high grades. I feel like, with all the stuff I learned making that thing, I should be able to make even a high grade look halfways decent.
-
This is no Zaku, boy! No Zaku!
-
This one is in honor of the love Kyle has for Z Gundam.
-
-
I'm more a SD guy myself. I have more fun doing those. Haha
-
@Funso The HG Gusion is the next one I want to buy. I love that stupid bulky as hell turtle looking thing.
The Gusion Rebake looks cool in the anime, but the model kit itself didn't look that good to me.
After the latest batch of episodes, I wish there was a kit for the Landman Rodi.
-
@Minamik God the gold Bandai uses when it isn't plated is just... gross. Good job on the kit in general though!
-
@Otter Considering it looks like this in the anime, I think the HG is actually more color accurate than the MG.
-
@Minamik To an extent. It was intended to be the shiny metallic gold though. The older Hyaku Shiki Hg even had it.
