Because my top 3 have shown to be unpopular in these contests, I'm picking my number 4. It's got more replay value anyway.

  • Yakuza 5
    Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon
    Suikoden V
    NiGHTS into Dreams...
    The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
    Tokyo Jungle

I will never look at Pomeranians the same way again.

Because I forgot to put it on my top 30 list....

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

I'm not sure what the context of this post is. Is that a good response or a bad one? lol

    Pokemon Gold/Silver

Super tough call, but I've put more hours into the gen 2 games than any other game ever. It makes me feel good. Hopefully some of my other faves will pop up, since my personal best (not favorite) game ever still isn't up here!

  • @TokyoSlim Good response! Tokyo Jungle is a great, fun game. I call pomeranians murder beasts now.

  • @Oscillator Aww, why not have faith in your favorite game? The list is shaping up as a very diverse, niche one (for that was my goal), and I'm sad to see that you feel your favorite shouldn't be here. Oh well, either way, it's your decision.

@naltmank The whole point was to create a list of games that people love more than any other. Yes, that is the point of every list building thread, but THIS one I was hoping for people's favorites and favorites alone: Not what the most important games are or a groupthink what the best game is (We just had that :-P ). As long as you gave your favorite (again, as per the title NOT BEST), regardless of what others may think, you've met the criteria.

  • @Brannox No worries, I feel good about saying Pokemon is my favorite game ever. I just felt the odd need to clarify the discrepancy between this list and the top 100 (plus the numerous other times I've spouted my love for Chrono Trigger). It was still a legitimately hard choice, though! Gold version is just my comfort food, which is why it only felt right to put it up here.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
    Journey
    Super Mario Sunshine

I know it's common for people to eschew Sunshine in favor of the other 3D Marios, but it still stands tall as my favorite Mario game, 3D or otherwise. It just has such a vibrant world teeming with personality, filled with a myriad of secrets. The levels are large and open, similar to 64, and I prefer that to the more progressively linear stages we see lately. Mario had polished and precise movement, and FLUDD allowed some forgiveness that made 3D platforming feel perfect. And if you preferred the challenge of not having it, there were stages where it was removed, mixing in the more traditional formula. I'll never forget my time on Isle Delfino, and I return there whenever I can.

I've had so much fun with that game, just driving around that amazing world, hearing that great soundtrack

    Super Mario Sunshine
    Brutal Legend
    StarCraft

I learned English playing this game, checking out forums, reading strategies, watching VODs of the tournaments, etc. I was so into this game , I used to download replays, observe other players, participate in clan tourneys. Eventually I got better at it, I improved my actions per second, learned to micro and macro manage units to the point where I beat my clan leader. I attended a couple LAN parties too. This game is awesome!

This game has such a great atmosphere and a really weird but jolly cast. Even if you dont like point and click adventures, I highly suggest you to play this one. (But use a guide, some puzzle solutions are random as hell.)

    Spider-Man (PS1; Neversoft)

My ultimate Spidey game from the year 2000. Oh boy, this was an enjoyable game! I beat it every way you could, got all the costumes etc. The black symbiote suit was the best because it had the infinite web thing. Then there were the collectable comics, which often only appeared if something special happened. I remember that the Scorpion needed to destroy all the furniture in Jameson's place for one comic to appear. Oh man, did I love this game. You could fool around and experiment in so many ways in so many levels. The bank heist in the beginning was really good for that, for instance.
