The EZA Dungeons & Dragons Community Thread

  • @Danerous Thanks for the spreadsheet! Hopefully this will still be going on 1.5 months from now - my last grad school apps are due on January 5th, so I'm focusing on getting those done before I commit to anything else. I would love to join in once everything settles down, though. I haven't been able to quest in about 7 years, and I've been trying to get a group every since!

  • @IanOro I'm also interested, because of my job where i just need to get my houres in when ever over a week, i can be very flexible with the time. I do have a time on Tuesdaý around 10 am - 11 am pst that i would like to avoid, but if need be it can be done.
I have a little bit of PnP and roll20 experience, don't have a ph 5e yet but i dont mind buying one.

  • While we are on the topic of RPGs, do we have any FATE Core players here? It's a fun story-driven system that prides itself on not being as crunchy as most.

The core rules is completely free here in multiple formats.

  • Should we start using the spreadsheet that @Danerous made, or a similar one to start coordinating this?

  • I have removed the test data that I added and people can start filling it in to get things rolling.

    Link to spreadsheet.

I thought I'd explain what the different colors mean. When there are 4 or more players that are available at the same hour their marks will turn green signaling that it is a possible match. Those that have written yes to being willing to DM the x in their boxes will be blue allowing you to see if a matching set of players at a time has someone who can DM. Players who have found a group and are playing, writing the name of their DM in the second column, will appear in a lighter shade of green as it isn't certain they are looking for another group or is available at that time. All other marks will be displayed in some sort of yellow as it's not likely to find a match.

There is also a row of numbers above the row of times that shows available players per hour. The higher the number of a cell, the more green it will be making it a tool to look for hours where several players are available.

  • Alright I've added myself to the list :)

  • hello everybody, i always wanted to play D&D, i never was able to find a group i will like to find a group and play with , i also have no experience playing it but i watch all the tte and tta. .

  • @edsgar you gotta start somewhere, so if you're up for it fill the spreadsheet to see if we can get a game going!!!

  • Filled in. Thx for making this.

  • Can anyone give me pointers or coach me on how to use Roll 20 and google docs to play online?? All my gaming experience is live. I have logged on to roll 20 and created a map for a campaign scene but I am not impressed with my work. It doesnt come natural to me. I Have no, repeat No artistic talent except for a great imagination.

Unfortunately I had the same problem when I tried using Roll 20 for my campaign, I ended up not using it and just making quick drawings on a whiteboard

  • btw is there a way to pin the spreadsheet somewhere near the top of this thread, otherwise it is gonna get lost as more comments are made, and it's gonna become a pain having to search for it all the time, would it have to be @BenMoore to have it pinned at the top?

  • thanks @bard91 i just added myself to the link provided by @Danerous , also is there anything i need to do because i saw other link provided by @Ehie-Yovach and i am not sure if i should also add myself there

  • @bard91 Thank you good to know I am not the only one.

  • There is a possible match on Saturdays for 4 people if @elerac wants to dm.

@elerac in the campaign that I play in the DM draws most of the maps with paper and pen, scans them and then adds some bushes and stuff in roll20, with the hand drawn map as a background. Also you don't have to use all the features of roll20 but only use it as a sort of whiteboard. You can draw shapes and stuff, and move those around. It also has voice chat and regular chat in which you can use commands starting with /r or /roll to do rolls (ie. "/r 1d20+2" would roll one 20-sided die and add 2). So even if you don't have all the npc's data and such in there I still think it could be a nice tool and good place to gather round.

  • @Danerous I'm cool with saturday term.

  • I own the LMoP module on Roll20. I haven't ran it all the way through with Roll20's set up, but I might be up to DM it for some folks who are interested in some beginner level stuff since most people here aren't really willing to DM.

  • @Danerous
Starting in January because of craziness of the holidays. I will DM a D&D campaign on roll 20 if noone else wants to. I have some ideas already. The only full rule books I have are 3.5 edition. This may change by then.

  • @elerac There are srds for both Pathfinder and D&D5E which are incredibly helpful for doing online campaigns one way or the other, but also give you a chance to familiarize yourself with the rules and see if you'd like to use one of them.
