The EZA Dungeons & Dragons Community Thread

  • @bard91 Sweet, I am 100% ok with rookie because I will be one myself. I haven't read the 5th edition at all and its been 10+ years since I played DnD 2nd edition.

As for time will I live in CEST so if its going to be like at night for me which is fine it would be best that it was during the weekend because I do work during the weekdays.

  • @Dunkageddon great idea, maybe we could in the EZA discord ask for a extra chat. there are plenty already for haiku zelda spoilers and so one. that would keep the community togeather still on the same server but still sparate things

  • @bard91 hey that souns like a good idea, let's just try to find a time that works for everyone

  • @bard91 When are you thinking of setting up your campaign. I ma be able to join as a player. My first time to play and not DM in forever.

  • @elerac I think the earliest would be the first weeks of May, so we should see if we can accommodate the five interested players for now, and decide on date sometime in late April

  • @bard91 super cool

  • @bard91 ok count me in, and I am looking forward to play with you guys

  • @edsgar me too, just need to agree on a time and a date then make a calendar post so we can see it in our time zones

  • Just to chime in, cause I've been craving a legit D&D group all my life (Only ever played maybe 3 times before a group split) have you guys seen the D&D Beyond open beta?

It's gonna open so many doors for online style campaigns.

  • @ZyloWolfBane nope, but ill check iut out. to anyone that would like to join as a DM or a player just do it. I might have many hours udner my belt back in the 1st and 2nd edition games but so many things have changed that I don't know any of the rule sand that should not discourage anyoen from playing. its al about having fun and telling a story

  • Entering Month 5 of our campaign started from this forum. We have now played 9 sessions I believ of 2.25 to 3.5 hours each. And what a blast. THe group is keeping me on my toes. |Our first quest should be coming to a close this weekend or next. Having a blast with D&D again.

  • to anyone that may be interested I'm thinking of DMing a new short campaing (at least to begin with) sometime soon, it would probably be on Saturdays after 6:00 pm US Central Time.

it seems like we have two players ready for this time frame, and I think that we a third we can start playing.

  • @bard91 would like to join in but can you nail down the time more. I am 7 hours ahead of you in CET +1

  • @fettouhi I told bard I could change my schedule to maybe for 4:00am central time or like I said after 6 00 pm central

  • @edsgar ok lets try and get a quick meetup and talk about a time and date that fits everyone.

  • Just had my first game of 2017 the other night. Was a little worried since my group lost and gained a member and we haven't played since my brother got married. I had mostly done premade campaigns but the last time we played I ended up doing my own thing and it was so much more fun.

Ended up playing a short one shot to get back in the groove and we all had a blast. Looking forward to playing again next week.

  • I've been thinking about getting in to D&D, what books should I buy to get started?

  • @michemagius The player handbook is really all that you need to learn to play.

It gives you the description of all the classes/races and the base rules of the game itself, which is more than enough as a player, and sufficient for a new DM, I was able to run some sessions at work for new people (including me) only using the contents of that and one of the pdfs on Wizards page.

as I had mentioned before I could run a short campaign (at least to begin with) if we are able to find at least 3 players for a particular time

  • @michemagius The starter kit is pretty cool too and there are tons of videos online of other people playing it if you want to DM yourself. It is cheap and comes with everything you need to get started.

You should also check out the movie The Gamers: Dorkness Rising. Great indie movie and is what got me wanting to D&D more when it came out.

  • @michemagius @Pikagreg @bard91
If there is a open spots for players maybe I can fill in, I am looking for a second group to play with.
