The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (NS/WiiU)

  • @Farsendor Unfortunately not, he's stuck in 1998.

  • @Haru17 I'm not trying to be a downer but i'm just not finding anything positive about the Switch.

Well for me anyways I mean a full handheld that can play modern games on the go sounds awesome but none of the games interest me.

Zelda is the only one i'm really interested and the interest is declining rapidly with all the information people are sharing.

  • @Farsendor Then don't buy it.

  • I've updated my concept art album with both the North American and European box art in the style of the other promotional pieces. There's a new scene on the back of the box, which looks pretty slick, and reads pretty poorly. This is the North American box art, by the way:

  • @Farsendor said in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has a good trailer (or two):

Zelda is the only one i'm really interested and the interest is declining rapidly with all the information people are sharing.

Curious what new info about Zelda is making your interest decline?

  • This is a perfect moment in gaming.

  • @Haru17 That handheld looks really good.

This game looks great.. I'm getting vibes somewhere between Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. I'm curious what the WiiU version will be like.. I may end up grabbing that version to play on my roommates WiiU

  • @Axel

    Link no voice over dialogue
70$ pro controller which is the only way I would play. That is a bummer because i'm hurting for money at the moment. I can't afford to buy all the PS4 games I want right now also.

Anyways what I meant is that Switch isn't worth the purchase right now because of money. I can play Zelda on Wii U and have virtually ALMOST the same experience. Even though I don't own a Wii U I can always play it on my sister in laws system.

  • @Farsendor I get some of your reasons but it seems like you are reaching.
like with the controller (I HAVE to have the completely optional 70 dollar controller) and the no voice over dialog for link (practically a series staple). I don't know why you would expect otherwise. Not to mention it's not like it will be structured to where it would feel necessary.

  • I'd rather not turn this thread into a Switch debate — there's already a very popular, very angry thread for that — but $360-$430 USD plus tax is worth it to play the Zelda I've been waiting for a decade to play.

Twilight Princess on a launch Wii was the last time I felt like a Zelda was this utterly excellent — I've never enjoyed the 2D games or Skyward Sword to anywhere near the same degree. I was eleven when my parents got me that for Christmas. I haven't been this excited for a game since Skyrim, which is probably my second favorite game after Twilight Princess and obviously much, much less mechanically advanced than Breath of the Wild.

And that isn't just nostalgia and sentiment either. Zelda looks like full stop The. Best. game this generation, and easily the most interesting this year. Even someone like me who was never the biggest fan of cel shading or applying the anime style to Zelda is completely on board. I can't even fucking wait, man!

  • @Haru17 A game this monumental only happens once in many years. To relive that feeling is something I am unspeakably excited for. I truly believe this will be an incredible time in gaming history, and I am honored to be a part of it on day one.

  • @Bigdude1

Selfish and a me thing but I want character driven/fantasy stories with voice over dialogue. This is my problem I completely admit that and so is the pro controller. Personally I can't bring myself to play with a non traditional controller.

I don't play smart phone games/ handhelds/ VR or anything unless i'm using a traditional controller. It is a me thing and not a them thing.

  • @Farsendor Breath has voice acting to an unknown extent.

You actually have a point with the pro controller thing, though I'd wager you don't know it yet. GaijinHunter posted a Switch event video that discussed the joy con dock controller (whatever the name was). Apparently one's hand rests on the plastic frame and not the joy cons themselves, which diminishes the rumble feature. The pro controller / holding the Switch / joy cons in hand likely lets you feel the rumbling component more directly.

    of course.

  • so is breath of the wild a direct sequel to ocarina of time in the fallen hero timeline?

  • @FF7Cloud I was under the impression that BotW takes place some time after WW, as we've seen Koroks and what appears to be a Rito

  • @Doctor-Professor it very well could i just got a feeling that this is the same link from ocarnina of time who lost to ganon and woke up 100 years later becasue the voice in the trailer said "do you remember what happend 100 years ago?"

  • Zelda like Mario is one of the most milked franchise in gaming. Nintendo are only rely on nostalgia so they are rehashing same series since 80s.

  • @FF7Cloud Ya, I can see that. But I can't think of any other reason for there to be Koroks and Rito, whereas I can imagine there being another situation in which that line would be applicable. However, if it is in the WW timeline, it also raises the question of why they're in Hyrule rather than the new continent.
