Selective Creation: Pick the 25 Best Wii Games!

  • We've been away from consoles for too long now, and we've been away from Nintendo even longer! This must be corrected, and what better console to get back to than the big N's most successful: the Wii!

SO: As always - Quick rule refresher for potential new players:

Here's the breakdown: You've been given the power to green-light 25 games, but here's the catch: these 25 games will be the ONLY games for the Wii to ever exist. What should be the games that make the cut? By giving 25 select titles, you are essentially playing an inverse of Kill Your Babies.

You can only give one title until three people have added after you OR 12 hours have passed since the last overall addition, NOT YOURS, so think really hard about which game should be on the list. It could be your favorite game, or if your favorite is already present, then you can add another you hold dear. Or if you hate the Wii, get to trolling if that makes you happy.

To try to have a little diversity, I'm instituting a TWO per franchise cap. So if two entries of a series get put on the list, a third CAN NOT be added.

Once you have given a game, please keep a running list going for the benefit of the next person that would like to play. Because I'm pitching the game, I will refrain from adding to the list unless absolutely necessary because it would be unfair for me to skew the list in my favor.

And so Allies, what are the 25 essential games to flail your arms at on the Wii?

    Have fun!

  • No More Heroes

Suda51 being Suda51. I really love the art direction in this, the over-the-top boss fights, the music, and the general vibe. It's an insane fever dream and great for it.

Plus, y'know, the whole "recharging your sword" action you had to perform with the Wiimote is probably the most hilarious implementation of motion controls in a game.

  • We haven't done this already?

    No More Heroes
    Okami

The motion controls are a bit clunky, and the battles are a bit button mashy, but I'll be darned if this doesn't have one of the best art styles ever.

  • No More Heroes
    Okami
    Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Actually great motion-controls to complement an excellent Metroid game. And Rundas. Would've made a great Smash Bros character.

  • No More Heroes
    Okami
    Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
    Xenoblade Chronicles

The best JRPG on Wii, best JRPG of the 7th gen.

  • No More Heroes
    Okami
    Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
    Xenoblade Chronicles
    MadWorld

Awful story but... lots of gore, interesting ways to eliminate enemies, and that Sin City-esque art style is still striking.

  • No More Heroes
    Okami
    Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
    Xenoblade Chronicles
    MadWorld
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

aka the best 3D Zelda game ever.

  • No More Heroes
    Okami
    Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
    Xenoblade Chronicles
    MadWorld
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
    No More Heroes 2

In a very weird way not as good as the first, but still one of the best of the Wii

  • No More Heroes
    Okami
    Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
    Xenoblade Chronicles
    MadWorld
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
    No More Heroes 2
    Spider-Man: Web of Shadows

It might have not been the best superhero game but it told an excellent story in the Marvel universe before the movies did. Plus, you felt like Spider-Man at times.

  • No More Heroes
    Okami
    Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
    Xenoblade Chronicles
    MadWorld
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
    No More Heroes 2
    Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
    Rhythm Heaven Fever

Best rhythm game on the Wii, at least in my opinion.

  • No More Heroes
    Okami
    Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
    Xenoblade Chronicles
    MadWorld
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
    No More Heroes 2
    Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
    Rhythm Heaven Fever
    Dead Space: Extraction

A very clever twist on the formula, faithful to the original game, and one of the best and most inventive rail-shooters I've ever played. Extremely underrated game.

  • No More Heroes
    Okami
    Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
    Xenoblade Chronicles
    MadWorld
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
    No More Heroes 2
    Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
    Rhythm Heaven Fever
    Dead Space: Extraction
    Super Mario Galaxy

Literally one of the best games of all time. How was this not the first title listed?

  • No More Heroes
    Okami
    Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
    Xenoblade Chronicles
    MadWorld
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
    No More Heroes 2
    Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
    Rhythm Heaven Fever
    Dead Space: Extraction
    Super Mario Galaxy
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure

An amazing point and click puzzler which really made use of the Wii's hardware. It's tonnes of fun with a real Saturday morning cartoon vibe, and puzzles which are bloody ingenious. Also throw in the fact that it's got loads of Capcom-themed secrets and you've got yourself a marvel.

  • No More Heroes
    Okami
    Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
    Xenoblade Chronicles
    MadWorld
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

    Rhythm Heaven Fever
    Dead Space: Extraction
    Super Mario Galaxy
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure
Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse

If you are willing to softmod your Wii, import a copy of this JP only Fatal Frame game and apply the english patch to it (like I did), it's the best exclusive horror game you can find on the Wii imo.

  • No More Heroes
    Okami
    Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
    Xenoblade Chronicles
    MadWorld
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

    Dead Space: Extraction
    Super Mario Galaxy
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure
Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse
    Donkey Kong Country Returns

A great return to form for the best 2D platforming series ever.

    Super Mario Galaxy
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure
Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse
    Donkey Kong Country Returns

    Super Mario Galaxy 2

Galaxy 1 was pretty ho hum in my opinion. I feel it played it too safe with the new concept. Mario Galaxy 2, however, blew the doors straight off in terms of creativity and variety. It made the first game look like an accounting office by comparison.

I just want to say thank you to the one who added DKCR. It's one of the greatest games of all time, the best platformer ever made and by far the best game on the Wii.

Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse
    Donkey Kong Country Returns
    Super Mario Galaxy 2
    Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Not that scary but some “psychological” game mechanics make it a really interesting game. Nice motion controls and a good new interpretation. I love my daddy!

    Rayman Origins

    Super Paper Mario

No it's not a traditional Paper Mario game, but it is a terrific RPG-Platformer with amazing environments, writing, and music. It's got to be my favorite story in a Mario game.
