Anime! Who's watching what?
-
MMO junkie. It's a slice of life show that's easy to wind down to. After watching two episodes, I really like it. The main character is a woman in her 30s who plays MMOs and the story follows her misadventures. There also seem to be somewhat darker themes going on in the background as evidenced in the opening.
My recommendation: Please watch it. I get the feeling this is going to be buried by other shows, but it's definitely something special.

@frasafrase I don't know much about it to be honest. I'm going to at least watch the first episode to fulfill that part of the Crunchyroll Passport to Japan thing. I heard it's getting like 50 episodes though so clearly whoever is making it is confident in it. I also heard that the voice acting is really REALLY bad and that the protagonist shouts all of his lines for the first episode so watch at your own risk I guess.

Did anyone ever watch Silver Spoon? Kinda curious about it since it's from the same author as Full Metal Alchemist.
-
@Minamik I did, I really like it! Wouldn't recommend to vegetarians though. Very different from FMA, much more chill.
-
Just finished Seven Deadly Sins. It was ok.

My girlfriend and I watch anime together all the time. We usually pick one or two current shows a season to watch every week, and then also watch a completed series or try to catch up on a long running series when we are eating meals together.
Currently we're watching the latest season of Food Wars on Saturdays and watching One Piece throughout the week. She's caught up on both manga, but I haven't been reading either of them. We are reaching the climax of the Enies Lobby arc in One Piece.
I'm also going through most of the major Gundam series right now on my own time, currently on 0080: War in the Pocket.

At present, my anime watches are currently limited to what is on Toonami (Gundam: Iron Blood Orphans and HunterxHunter), One Piece DVDs, and an occasional anime movie screening at a theater. I saw a movie called A Silent Voice on Friday night. It was very good. There's a chance you could still get to see it at a theater depending on where you live. I would recommend giving it a look.

@Gaming_Groove I did this a few years back for all of the Universal Century shows. It was a long, strange ride, lol.
-
Can anyone recommend a feel good anime to unwind with? Examples from things I've watched before would probably be haikyuu or beyond the boundary.
-
@JamboHyland95 Natsume Yuujinchou (Natsume's Book of Friends)
-
@Minamik many thanks!
-
@JamboHyland95 Oops! Forgot to mention, you can find it on Crunchyroll. :)
-
@Minamik even better, it's so hard to find ways to watch anime in Ireland that doesn't involve torrenting. Netflix is steadily growing but we don't have much anime on TV and for years only choice we had was pirating or paying for DVDs which were usually imports and waaaaay overpriced. So basically I love Crunchyroll!!
-
Does Funimation's youtube work for you over there?
-
@Minamik I just checked there and it does but it only has clips from what im seeing at a glance? They have an app here but their catalog is really old and the app is woefully bad (on PS4 anyway which is where I do 90% of my watching because I can plug my headphones into my controller and watch it on TV)
-
@JamboHyland95 Oh, weird, they used to have all their stuff on their Youtube. How about their site then? Test link: https://www.funimation.com/shows/cowboy-bebop/asteroid-blues/
-
@Minamik nah it doesn't work, we have a uk version for funimation here but a lot of it was dub, and although I don't mind a dub when its done well I find that those are kinda rare.
-
@JamboHyland95 Ah, that's a shame.

I've got six episodes to go before finishing off the first season of Re:Zero. It's only been okay so far tbh.
I recently watched Ping Pong: The Animation though, and that was incredible. The art style was a turn off at first, but even that grew on me after a few episodes. But yeah -
great characters with pretty awesome arcs.

I finished My Hero Academia not too long ago, and after I was done I was UPSET that there isn't more.
Right now I'm watching Little Witch Academia, a bit of Dagashi Kashi, and I have to catch up with the last batch of Digimon Tri.
Aside from that I've been putting off watching JoJo but I'll try really hard to start it after I'm done with these.
Also I seriously need next saturday to come fast, because I can't wait for more One Piece, it is just too good right now.
