What Are You Listening To?

Some favorites from 2017 so far. Unfortunately none of these albums have really stood out, but hoping LCD's will change that on Friday.
Fleet Foxes - "I Am All That I Need / Arroyo Seco / Thumbprint Scar" , "Third of May / Ōdaigahara" , "Fool's Errand"
Arcade Fire - "Everything Now"
Broken Social Scene - "Protest Song" , "Gonna Get Better"
Spoon - "Hot Thoughts" , "Do I Have to Talk You Into It" , "Tear It Down"
Fazerdaze - "Lucky Girl" , "Little Uneasy"
Iron & Wine - "Song in Stone" , "Bitter Truth"
-
@MiserablePerson Huh, I really liked the new BSS and Spoon, but you're not the only person to say that, so maybe I'm just crazy.
I'm working my way through the new Queens of the Stone Age and I gotta say, it's pretty good so far.
-
For some reason, I've recently found myself listening more Halestorm than usual, but I don't find that as a bad thing... Going to list few random songs in case someone is interested:
I Miss The Misery
Freak Like Me
MayhemAlso, here's something little different, though unless you understand Finnish, you won't get much out of it :P (Well, someone translated the song in the comment section, if someone is actually interested)

@SabotageTheTruth Don't get me wrong I really like both new albums, but I absolutely loved They Want My Soul and Forgiveness Rock Record - their follow-ups were always going to be difficult to eclipse, for me anyways. Arcade Fire is the only one that's been extremely disappointing.
I'm kinda weird about music, even when new stuff from bands I like comes out, I don't necessarily jump right on it and listen. I really like The Shins and I've barely touched Heartworms, so there is a lot that I need to catch up on from 2016/17.

Since Kyle's playthrough, I've been a wee bit obsessed with the Gitaroo Man soundtrack.
-
So I've been casually watching Kyle's playthrough of PokePark 2 before going to bed each night. None of the music so far has been exactly bad but I wouldn't call it memorable either. Once he was about to enter the Tech Area, I expected to hear some synths or at least very rhythmic percussion sections. Instead, this is what I was treated to...
There is so much space in this track, it really allows that jazzy piano to freely dance around as it pleases. Add in some soothing strings backing that piano, and you have an extremely chill track.
-
@SabotageTheTruth Tech area is the most chill, I love it. I'll take your chill track and raise you another.
-
@michemagius I don't know how I feel about that video.... but I could definitely see this being used in a Katamari game.
-
@SabotageTheTruth Was it the hoverboards? Those kind of turn me off too.

I feel like I'm the only person who really likes the new Gorillaz album, but with the new music video I've really fallen in love with Strobelite. I'm not sure how I missed it on my initial listens through of the album but it's really a gem.
-
@michemagius It was always one of the few tracks I'd admit wasn't bad. I really hope the next album isn't so guest heavy as Damon Albarn is a hero of mine.. but we'll see.
-
@Inustar Wait when did he finally do a playthrough!?

Danke Danke Danke!!!

American Dream finishes with a track about James' relationship with Bowie, in the vein of "Someone Great." 10/10 closing song.

The National's new album Sleep Well Beast is out today so I've started digging in. So far it's great, the music in it is absolutely on point. I'm sure I'll post further thoughts once I've listened to it fully and a few additional times. Very excited as I'm going to see them next week!

One of my favorite Korean musicians is Primary. They're almost like the Gorillaz in that almost every song features another artist. Their most recent EP, POP, is really awesome. These are my favorite songs.
-
I find myself coming back to the Magnolia songs composed for Fallout 4 (sung by Lynda Carter IRL.) They're really jazzy lounge tunes like Odyssey's theme song before Odyssey, and they have some fun in-universe nods in much the same way.
I've also been listening to the fourth palace theme from Persona 5, because it's composed in such a way as to never really grate. Fair warning though, the true title of the song is a spoiler (not in the video title, but comments and suggested videos can be perilous).
