What Are You Listening To?

Future Islands is a band that has been in the biz for a long while but didn't really find success until their last release, thanks to some really great late night show performances that went viral. I quickly made sure to catch a show of theirs after hearing of them and I gotta say, probably one of the best live acts I've ever had the pleasure of catching/dancing to. This album is another one from them that is just great all around, solid tone throughout, with more introspective lyrics than what I was expecting. Worth a listen.
I really wanna check out Joni Mitchell now thanks to the most recent Frame Trap.
-
@SabotageTheTruth Future Islands is a great band! They're locals where I went to school so I was lucky enough to catch them live a couple times.
In other news.. a friend of mine got me listening to a lot of Brand New again. I was never a huge fan but I'm really enjoying rediscovering them so to speak
-
@Faaip The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me happens to be my favorite album of all time. I was lucky enough to see them perform all of it up in Seattle back in 2007.
-
@SabotageTheTruth Dude nice! It really is an incredible album. I hear they're breaking up in 2018.. so I'm definitely gonna try to catch them live before that happens.
-
@Faaip In the great words of Ian Hinck, "LCD Soundsystem is playing Coachella this year. Sometimes a finale isn't really final, you know?" So I'm hoping they don't break up but it certainly has been awhile since they released anything.
-
@SabotageTheTruth That's true, a lot of bands come back after "breaking up". I'm hoping The Chariot does that heheh I never got to see them live.. oh and for the love of god Fugazi
-
Lately, lots of They Might Be Giants. Especially the older stuff.
Probably because I was in New York, and they mention NYC a lot in their older songs, so it was cool to go to places they mention or where they filmed their videos.
Don't Let's Start was somewhere I actually got to go to the filming location of (the old 1964 New York State Pavilion in Corona Park, Queens)

I've been pretty obsessed with Rag'n'Bone Man lately. The video for Hell Yeah is also one of a few videos that effects me emotionally. He first came to my attention though from the Mass Effect Andromeda trailer.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BPbYdPwmjsIAlso been pretty obsessed with violin/cello covers of video game or anime music.

Besides the wonderful smooth jazz coming from Persona 5, Kendrick Lamar - DAMN.
-
@Rayne5 That smooth jazz is addicting. I could never get into Kendrick Lamar before but everyone seems to be enjoying DAMN so I should give him another go.
-
@SabotageTheTruth I would stand in the street in that game just to hear the music longer haha.
I love all of his albums but this one I would probably rank last of them all. To put it in perspective TPAB is the best. But it's all down to personal taste, you might find DAMN to be your favourite or you might not like any of it.
-
So I found out one of my favorite bands is going to be in town next week.
Between Persona 5 releasing and finally having an opportunity to see Deerhunter live, April 2017 is quickly becoming one hell of a month for me.

Ive been listening a lot of Jordan Rudess for the past while. He's the keyboardist for Dream Theater, but has also released a few of his own albums over the years. Some with purely piano pieces, both original and covers of non piano songs. Others being progressive rock. I could almost imagine them in a Mega Man game lol. Here's two tracks from the album Feeding the Wheel. Enjoy!

been listening to meatloaf lately
''I would do anything for love'' specifically
-
@FF7Cloud "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" is a great Karaoke duet (if there isn't too much of a queue behind you)
-
Right now i am in love with Avenged Sevenfold new album The Stage, but I'm trying to listen to more 70's/80's metal.
-
I've been listening to this a lot for over a month a now, for anyone that is into sad and calm music I can't recommend it enough, and the story behind the album is incredibly sad and it adds a lot more power to the music.
-
I was just on another journey with this pretty weird-ass yet absolutely lovable ragtag group of individuals in OUTER SPACE and now I can't get enough of The Chain again.
-
@Sentinel-Beach Fleetwood Mac is godtier. Is The Chain in Guardians 2 or something?
-
I of course have to talk about Humanz! I love all of the singles, and a lot of the album only tracks. I think the album takes a bit of getting used to but that's not really a bad thing. I'm sure I'll grow to admire it even more as time passes. But for real, The Apprentice, Let Me Out, and Andromeda are all incredible! (I'm also very fond of Ascension, Out of Body, and Busted and Blue.)
Youtube VideoI'd also like to spotlight IU's new song JamJam. It's a silly name but not a silly song. I feel like in the past few years she's really come in to her own and her music is really starting to have a distinct flavor rather than generic Kpop ballad. 23 was also excellent. But yeah, I just really love this song. It's nice to see such a wonderful voice mixed with such amazing music.
