What Are You Listening To?

This new Gambino is insane in the best way. It's like the soundtrack to having a panic attack at the beach. I think this my favorite project of his, which is saying a lot because I love pretty much everything except Camp.

The music in Air Combat is pretty goddamn great, with bangers like this:

Windows Open (EP) by Dirty Projectors is 10 minutes of acoustic bliss. The song Overlord is probably the centerpiece of it:

Quite happy with this Strokes single, I especially like how it started.

It's quite a sad day, an artist that I looked up to has passed away. I don't listen to him much these days, but this guy lowkey started my efforts to really widen my music tastes years ago. RIP, Glenn Fredly.

Salmo - Italian rapper I got into through their drummer
Darkbuster - Some nostalgic (for me) Boston punk

The latest Gorillaz single is pretty hype, like the two before it. I'm really excited for whatever they have in store next, the songs has been really good so far. I like that all of them sound distinct enough from one another, but also feel similar in terms of vibes (a bit "darker" and more patient than their previous outputs).

The new Strokes album, The New Abnormal, came out yesterday. I know I'm biased, but honestly this is the most interesting and well made album they've made since Room on Fire. I'm so happy that this turned out so well. The first track (below) sets the tone of the whole thing, pretty much.

I've been listening to a bunch of video game music playlists on Youtube, and got some great tracks that I've never heard before. Ordered from my favorite:
Musashi Samurai Legend - Village of the Sacred Beast. Really love the dreamy and mysterious vibes being conveyed by the synths and the Japanese-sounding instruments interlocking with each other.
Youtube VideoOpoona - The Village Without Memories It's just a pleasant track to listen to, with pretty big ensemble of instruments being used very well. Not to mention, the bass line that carries the whole thing is pretty great.
Youtube VideoKlonoa 2 - Seaway. Despite sounding quite dated, it definitely still slaps quite a bit, as the kids today would say.
Youtube VideoEtrian Odyssey Untold: TMG - Labyrinth IV - The Withered Forest. I love the saxophone (?) in the chorus, really makes the slow build up in the previous parts worth it.

Over the past couple of years my taste has changed so much, and now I'm caught in a never ending Future Funk and Dream Pop cycle, never thought I would get here.

Gorillaz released another track from Song Machine. Outta nowhere this time, from what I gather it's because of Tony Allen's recent passing making them release it a lot sooner than originally planned. Another great song either way.

Time for more good-ass pop punk from PUP.

I've got the "What's Inside Your Butthole" meme song stuck in my head. I wish I was joking.
