    I do :P

    Always found them too easy

    The Legend of Zelda

The original Zelda holds up in my opinion.

    Youtube Video

Gotta disagree, a lot of the secrets are very obtuse and LTTP does pretty much everything better, really LTTP is just an upgraded version due to what the SNES could do compared to the NES

  • Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
    Super Mario World
    Mega Man X
    Secret of Mana
Final Fantasy VI (Final Fantasy III in the US)
    Super Castlevania IV
Super Mario World II: Yoshi's Island
    Chrono Trigger
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
    EarthBound
    Aladdin (SNES)
    Kirby Super Star
    Terranigma
    The Legend of Zelda
    Tetris
    Super Metroid

The only other game on a Nintendo system that's in my personal top ten.

  • @ACardAttack I think he meant because it was originally left off of the lists up to that point, but if you noticed, please disregard this message.

  • Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
    Super Mario World
    Mega Man X
    Secret of Mana
Final Fantasy VI (Final Fantasy III in the US)

    EarthBound
    Aladdin (SNES)
    Kirby Super Star
    Terranigma
    The Legend of Zelda
    Tetris
    Super Metroid
    Hagane

Probably one of the rarest SNES games I own

  • Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
    Super Mario World
    Mega Man X
    Secret of Mana
Final Fantasy VI (Final Fantasy III in the US)
    Super Castlevania IV
Super Mario World II: Yoshi's Island
    Chrono Trigger
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

    Kirby Super Star
    Terranigma
    The Legend of Zelda
    Tetris
    Super Metroid
    Hagane
    Super Mario Bros. 3

Can I add this or do the Super Mario Worlds count as 2 for the series?

  • Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
    Super Mario World
    Mega Man X
    Secret of Mana
Final Fantasy VI (Final Fantasy III in the US)

    Kirby Super Star
    Terranigma
    The Legend of Zelda
    Tetris
    Super Metroid
    Hagane
    Super Mario Bros. 3
    Tactics Ogre

The game that inspired FF Tactics, so much fun, good story, love these type of games

@Faaip I wold almost say Yoshi's Island doesn't really count, its a Yoshii game more than a mario game...also we could/should change SMW to SMW All Stars.

  • Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
    Super Mario World
    Mega Man X
    Secret of Mana
Final Fantasy VI (Final Fantasy III in the US)

    Terranigma
    The Legend of Zelda
    Tetris
    Super Metroid
    Hagane
    Super Mario Bros. 3
    Tactics Ogre
    Ninja Gaiden

I really had to put some effort into beating that game, but it felt so good.

  • @ACardAttack said in Selective Creation: Make the Best NES/SNES List!:

also we could/should change SMW to SMW All Stars.

Based on past lists, we tend to stick with individual games as opposed to compilations. Apples to apples and all that.

  • Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
    Super Mario World
    Mega Man X
    Secret of Mana
Final Fantasy VI (Final Fantasy III in the US)
    Super Castlevania IV

    The Legend of Zelda
    Tetris
    Super Metroid
    Hagane
    Super Mario Bros. 3
    Tactics Ogre
    Ninja Gaiden
    Mother

I really wanted to put a quirky dark horse in here, but instead, I'm closing the loop on the Mother series. (EarthBound is Mother II)

  • Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
    Super Mario World
    Mega Man X

    Super Metroid
    Hagane
    Super Mario Bros. 3
    Tactics Ogre
    Ninja Gaiden
    Mother
    NBA Jam
    The Guardian Legend

Nice mixture of action adventure and shmup.

  • @Churchy Man, I played it for the first time on Virtual Console a couple months ago because everyone always raves about it, and I thought it controlled like ass! The graphics and sound are top-notch, but the gameplay is extremely lame compared to other games of that era. The platforming in particular is atrocious, the jump is so stiff, going up and down stairs is ridiculously obtuse, you fall through them if you jump on them, WHY? Ugh, this game annoyed me so much!

Compare the fluidity of the controls to any Mario game, Super Metroid, Mega Man X (best dash in the biz), Donkey Kong Country, and so on. Super Castlevania IV really doesn't stand up, Belmont feels like a two-legged tank.

Anyway, sorry for the rant, I really wish I knew why people love it so much.

Still finished it though, thank god for save states!

(I make it my personal mission to kill it first, you've all been warned)

  • I've been away for a little while so I apologize for not being prompt to answer these in a timely manner.

@Faaip Super Mario Bros. 3 is invalidated only because it is a member of the Super Mario series, despite how different it is. So, it in effect can not make the list

@Billy is correct. Individual games are the entires. I find the Apples to Apples analogy quite apt. Also @ACardAttack, once a game has been given, it can't be changed. I had a rule similar to that, but felt that it wasn't necessary after testing it in the first few threads (since I've been doing them).

@Axel And if someone decides to kill it before you? X-)

    The Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout

    I couldn't help it.
    It just popped in there.
Tried to think of the most harmless thing.
Something I loved from my childhood.
Something that could never ever possibly destroy us.
    The Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout.

Seriously, I loved that game as a kid, played it dozens of times on my NES. Great boss fights too!
Anyway that's a serious dark horse for the win now.

  • @Brannox Then I shall high-five that someone. And proceed to kill the very game they love the most. For such is the way of KYB.

  • @Axel You are a sadistic killer. You are welcomed here >X-D

  • @Axel Haha, see this is the thing I love about this medium - everyone's take is different. Weirdly I only played it for the first time a couple of years ago. The thing is the NES Castlevanias are much more stiff when it comes to the controls. Yeah, the stairs are still a negative about IV but I still love it all the same. The atmosphere through sound and graphics does a large amount of the work! Haha, I will await it's depth with anxious anticipation!

EDIT: I just noticed Bugs Bunny's Birthday Blowout. I feel that your platform of good controls is crumbling. ;)

@ACardAttack Hey, that's fair enough. I do love SOTN and some of the newer ones that use that blueprint too.

This underrated amazing beautiful NES game. Its so darn hard and makes you scream out in frustration after level 4. But it has some of the best music from its era, solid platforming and fun weapons. You can blame the story (or lack thereof) on Sunsoft loosing their Terminator license in the last minute. Yet it becomes I game I today go back to and play now and then.
