@GranArcanum well in regards to food, there's a bunch of places nearby. "GREATNESS" may be determined by your budget and personal taste though.
Lots of tourist trap style places in Hollywood, but even those seem to satisfy many people. :)

Nearby food of the cheap/fast variety:
There's a Popeyes Chicken next door.
Smoke's Poutinery. For our friends visiting from the great white North.
Umami Burger isn't too bad.
Calle Tacos It's an indoor taco truck , I'd maybe try to hit Trejos first.
Trejos Cantina Danny Trejo's (Yes, Machete) second taco joint. They have good vegetarian options too, if you're into that. More expensive than normal street tacos, but they're pretty good.
Ball and Chain is a gastropub that specializes in burgers and meatballs.
I think Yakipan is across the street. They don't have a website, but it's asian fusion noodle bowls. It's alright.There's an In N Out down the street, but it's like 7 blocks or something. Probably worth the walk if you've never had a double double before. Be forewarned out of towners - the fries are lukewarm garbage.
I generally get them "animal style" or you're just eating bland, spongey potatoes. Animal style adds mustard onions, cheese, and thousand island. If that sounds gross to you - probably skip the fries :)

@GranArcanum You might want to look into Air BnB for a place to stay, that's what me and my group decided to use! Some of the cheaper ones are just a room in someone's house/apartment, and cost can vary depending on where in the city you want to stay, but at least it gives you some other options aside from hotels. If you use that link you'll get $40 off too. :)

Got my tickets already.
The only thing I'm wondering about is the fine print on the ticket confirmation:
I'm ok if that's actually the case, but I think people need to know if it is or not, considering that an additional $30 minimum check isn't referenced anywhere else.

@TokyoSlim I don't even really understand what that is referencing to. Is that saying you have to buy (or have) two items and if you don't, you'll be charged $30 and either way you're charged at least $15?
Is there more to it than just the image?

@TokyoSlim @tokeeffe9 Yeah, I think Brandon vaguely mentioned it when they announced the venue that there IS a food/drink minimum, it is something they should have mentioned again with the official ticket announcement. You should only be charged if you don't meet the minimums, so if you buy 1 food/drink item then they will charge $15 for the missing second item, if you don't buy anything they will charge $30 total.

That's the only mention of it on the confirmation. It looks to me as if you have to buy two items, or get charged a $15 service fee for each of the two items you don't purchase. So in example, if you buy nothing, you pay $30. If you buy one drink, you pay for the drink, plus $15. If you buy two drinks, you just pay for the drinks.
Something to consider for folks planning on getting dinner or drinks beforehand.

Ouch, so if I brought my wife and we ate at Katsuya beforehand we'd get nailed for $60 extra because we didn't buy any food at the venue? That.....sucks.

They are aware of it now anyway so hopefully we should at minimum get some clarification if it's still in place.

Yeah, that's a bummer. And I had tickets in my cart last week and I ended up reconsidering. But THAT information isn't listed before you buy the tickets, which is.....really backdoorshady deals.
I'm used to that sort of thing with nightclubs doing that or they charge you at the door, but....charging a food/drink minimum AFTER buying tickets and not telling you till you already bought them? Just...wow, ouch.
Benefit of the doubt goes to the allies of course, the venue was already keeping brandon waiting for weeks about the tickets as it was so I can only imagine they never told him anything either, I feel bad for the guy.
I just don't want to dip into my budget for Patreon and Twitch to make this affordable since that is WAY more important to me. =/

Ya, they definitely weren't trying any shady business here. I'm not even sure if that money would even go to them to be honest but as I said, hopefully it works out for everyone.

Yeah hopefully, I'd hate to see things get sour cause the venue pulled some unexpected shenanigans. This should be an awesome event. Sadly it just prices things out of my range, all things considered.
I'll be watching the re-broadcast online instead, hope everyone has a great time and gives everyone plenty of bearhugs!
Maybe whatever extra things they had planned for that night or the next day will be more within my means so I can finally meet everyone and other allies in person, I'll just be patient =)
