Selective Creation: Select Your 25 Fighting Games!

  • From system to genre, let's build the definitive 25 Fighting Games!

SO: As always - Quick rule refresher for potential new players:

Here's the breakdown: You've been given the power to green-light 25 games, but here's the catch: these 25 games will be the ONLY fighting games EVER. What should be the games that make the cut? By giving 25 select titles, you are essentially playing an inverse of Kill Your Babies.

You can only give one title until four people have added after you OR 12 hours have passed since the last overall addition, NOT NECESSARILY YOURS, so think really hard about which game should be on the list. It could be your favorite game, or if your favorite is already present, then you can add another you hold dear. Or if you don't like fighting games, get to trolling if it makes you happy.

To keep some diversity, I'm instituting a franchise cap. So if two entries of a series get put on the list, a third CAN NOT be added.

Once you have given a game, please keep a running list going for the benefit of the next person that would like to play. Because I'm pitching the game, I will refrain from adding to the list unless absolutely necessary because it would be unfair for me to skew the list in my favor.

And so Allies, what are the 25 best fighting games of all time?

    Have fun!

  • Persona 4 Arena Ultimax

I don't really follow fighting games, and I have no idea how good it is in comparisson to others, but it has Persona characters on it

  • Persona 4 Arena Ultimax
    Tekken 3

"The King of Iron Fist Tournament!"

  • Global Moderator

@Sentinel-Beach I was gonna say that!

    Persona 4 Arena Ultimax
    Tekken 3
    Soul Calibur 5

I have had so much fun playing local MP games with my friends until late night/early morning trying to beat each other with different characters! it deserves a spot

  • Persona 4 Arena Ultimax
    Tekken 3
    Soul Calibur 5
Super Smash Bros for Wii U

In before "Smash isn't a fighting game".

  • Persona 4 Arena Ultimax
    Tekken 3
    Soul Calibur 5
Super Smash Bros for Wii U
    Marvel vs. Capcom 3

That's right, I like 3 more than 2. I also decided to main Arthur because I'm a wild one.

  • Persona 4 Arena Ultimax
    Tekken 3
    Soul Calibur 5
Super Smash Bros for Wii U
    Marvel vs. Capcom 3
    Project Justice: RIVAL SCHOOLS 2

And I swear if someone kills this game going "wut dis? Never heard uv it..." again I'm gonna lose my shit.

    Play some video games yo.

    Tekken 3
    Soul Calibur 5
Super Smash Bros for Wii U
    Marvel vs. Capcom 3
    Project Justice: RIVAL SCHOOLS 2
    Tekken Tag Tournament

The greatest Tekken game besides T3. One of my earliest games on PS2, playing that on a brand new console was like heaven. The hours I spent with it!

    Project Justice: RIVAL SCHOOLS 2
    Tekken Tag Tournament
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future

No other game on this list will let me throw road rollers at people. Also unlike All Star Battle, which is fun but just some dumb fanservice good times, this game is legit pretty good.

I just loved that one as a kid for some reason. My favorite character was Kim Kaphwan and I even took Taekwondo lessons for a year because I wanted to kick like him!

Still remember the weekends me, my brother , cousin, and that one neighbour kid who smelled like syrup spent pouring hour after hour into it. Hell I remember me and my cousin being so evenly matched the first minute or so of each match would be us constantly clashing/negating each others attacks

There was one fighting game I played a lot as a kid and this was it. I have no idea if it still holds up (I wanna try it out for nostalgia's sake) but my childhood self is telling me this is a hidden gem. Plus, those stage kills are worth a watch.

    Power Stone 2
    Guilty Gear
    War of the Monsters

This was such a unique thing to have. Roaming around cities basically as a King Kong, climbing and destroying buildings, and then (the game's version of) Godzilla appears and you two go at it. I loved how you could hurl the other one into a building and it collapses and use big antennas to impale the opponent for a while. Then there were enviromental threads you could trigger. And one of the characters was even a giant Gundam. All this was presented in neat 1950s style.

    Guilty Gear
    War of the Monsters
    Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring

Only fighting game where you can fight with Tifa, Cloud, Yuffie, Vincent, Zack and Sephiroth. And this game has interesting RPG mode in the side, which on it's own would be decent game.

    Guilty Gear
    War of the Monsters
    Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring
    Melty Blood: Actress Again

Definitive version of my favorite fighting game. Originally a doujin fighter, the characters exude a very simple style, most characters are just wearing normal everyday clothes. It is by far my favorite feeling fighting game, the exact right amount of hitfreeze on each move, and the perfect feel of weightiness to the characters. It also has the only soundtrack I'd say is as good as Street Fighter 3: Third Strike's OST.

This and number 2 are the best in the series. It's crazy how well this plays today and how fluid everything is. And the weapon master mode is sheer genius. Man, Namco was the king back then.
