Mass Effect: Andromeda (PC/PS4/XB1)

  • @DisturbedSwan I've been really sucked in with the multiplayer but yea the bad loads happen on console too the issues are on all platforms I've also crashed a few times in multiplayer and once in singleplayer. hopefully april 4th brings some big patch fixes p5 will be out and I'll be putting this on the back burner until I beat that.

  • OK Allies, I tried to power through it, but I have reached my breaking point with the bugs in this game.

I have seen slow texture load-ins/failures, stutter-stepping through Kadara, NPCs hanging out in mid-air after an airship drop, NPCs clipping through walls & disappearing, & silent dialogue responses (had to turn on subtitles). I was able to stomach most of the facial animations, but the biggest bug (& insult to storytelling) was in a cut-scene. Spoiler below:

During a memory flashback (Mother's Last Day?) the twin Ryders are at their mother's bedside across from Alec. The male twin NEVER LOADED IN! At first I was thinking that he wasn't there, & was off guarding the Mass Effect relay as part of the lore. When the sister says let's give Mom & Dad a moment alone, she puts her hand on the shoulder of the brother IN MID-AIR & walks out of the room. escorting no one.

Going from Horizon: Zero Dawn to Mass Effect: Andromeda may have had some of an impact of my perspective, but this was the first time that I have ever hard quit a game & wanted to get a refund. I loved Mass Effect 1, 2, most of 3. Many of my friends have been trashing the game ever since the face-animation leaks & stayed far away from this game, but I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt.

Counting the hours until Persona 5 releases. I have never played any Persona games, but i hope P5 will cleanse me after this.

PS: I was playing on a PS4 Pro. I restarted multiple times due to Rest Mode issues for texture loading/stutter-step issues. They persisted several times after restart.

I didn't have that many glitches, but maybe I was one of the few lucky ones.

The most of what I experienced was floating enemies standing in mid air, the movie night mission disappearing entirely for no reason, doors not opening so I had to save and reload, Ryder's eyelids would get stuck so he looked high in cutscenes, got stuck underneath buildings and vehicles, and stuff in the menu wouldn't register as viewed so there'd always be an Exclamation mark even tho there was nothing new.

  • I've had a fair few bugs but nothing too bad at all, was really worried about the loading bug I had 4 times through the game but that has rectified itself by not using manual saves.

The bugs I have got have been really minor and not affected my enjoyment in anyway and the performance is always at a solid 60fps (with no drops) at 1440p on PC throughout, whether that's in the Nomad on a Planet or in a story mission it's always a rock-solid 60fps and runs incredibly smoothly.

Starting to think a lot of these bugs are a result of a poor console port on Bioware's part more than anything.

  • @Cinder-Byte all good put it down and come back to it in a couple weeks after p5 theres patches incoming.

  • @DisturbedSwan I've actually seen more bugs crop up on the pc version. I'd of done pc if I thought my pc could maintain 60 fps but its a aging build. whats your current pc specs? I also hate supporting origin i really want all my games on steam its really frustrating.

  • @JoleeHonso Oh really? Fair play, I didn't realise.

Almost all the footage I've seen of the game in reviews and bugs etc. has been the console versions, and a lot of the worst bugs people are reporting haven't affected me for the most part or I just haven't encountered at all so just kind of put 2 and 2 together that the PC version might be less buggy.

    My PC Specs are:
    i7 4790k,
    16GB RAM,
    GTX 1080.

  • @DisturbedSwan yea you got a monster rig. I gotta swap out my older amd phenom ii x6 1090t at some point its a 2008 build lol. was waiting to see how ryzen faired on the market cpus have been steep price wise recently. I think if the patch can get ps4 to a more stable 30 fps I'll be happy.

  • @DisturbedSwan A fellow Saints fan! I like these forums already.

  • @Art You call that not having many glitches? :P

  • @JoleeHonso Looks like its bigger than I thought it would be. I'm excited for this. Looks like we are closer to the real "Play Date".

I'm like 20 hours in, haven't been able to play that much because of work and traveling. My opinion: they tried reaching for the sun on character facial animation and got burned... everything else from the exploration and the story I reaaalllyy love.. how they touch on being in a whole new galaxy no other piece of fiction that i know off has done this. This game could have been one of the greats but somebody fumbled the ball. I'm happy that they are trying to fix things, we will see.

@edsortiz Compared to what other people have been experiencing, yes. lol

@JoleeHonso said in Mass Effect: Andromeda - (PC/PS4/XB1): big patch incoming

    Hi everyone,

It’s been two weeks since the launch of Mass Effect™: Andromeda and we’re thankful to the millions of you who have already joined us on this journey. And though the game is now in your hands, it’s really just the beginning.

Since launch, our team has been poring over your comments and feedback, looking to discover what you like about the game, as well as areas we can evolve or improve.

This Thursday, we’ll release a new patch that addresses technical fixes (crashes, improved performance), but also adds a number of improvements we’ve heard you ask for, such as:

    • Allowing you to skip ahead when travelling between planets in the galaxy map
    • Increasing the inventory limits
    • Improving the appearance of eyes for humans and asari characters
    • Decreasing the cost of Remnant decryption keys and making them more accessible at merchants
    • Improving localized voice over lip sync
    • Fixing Ryder’s movements when running in a zig zag pattern
    • Improving matchmaking and latency in multiplayer

There are many more adjustments being made, all of which you can find in our patch notes.

Over the next two months we’ll be rolling out additional patches which will go even deeper and look to improve several areas of the game:

    • More options and variety in the character creator
    • Improvements to hair and general appearance for characters
    • Ongoing improvements to cinematic scenes and animations
    • Improvements to male romance options for Scott Ryder
    • Adjustments to conversations with Hainly Abrams

These upcoming patches will also address performance and stability issues. And we’re looking at adding more cosmetic items to single player for free.

For multiplayer, over the same timeframe, we’re going to continue to build on the APEX missions that have been running since launch. We’ll be adding new maps, characters, and weapons. On Thursday, we kick off the first of three new chapters centered around The Remnant Investigation.

This is just a taste of what’s in store as we continue to support Mass Effect: Andromeda. And as always, you all play an important role in that. We want to hear from you about your experiences, both what you love about the game and what you’d like to see changed. We’re listening, and we’re committed to partnering with you as we continue to explore the Andromeda galaxy together.

    Here’s to a great journey,

  • The patch is welcome, I just don't know if I'll go back to the game. Currently I'm playing Persona which is huge and then I want to play Nier and finish Yakuza 0.
But the improvements that seem amazing to me are:

The improvements to the character creator. As it is now, it's bad.

Improving the eyes. My biggest problem, those eyes are crazy

Skipping on the galaxy map. It's cool the first few times, but later it was annoying.

Scott Ryder's romances. Seeing the clips of his same sex romance options were TERRIBLE. It'll be great if they make it look like he's not uncomfortable and actually seems interested in the guy he's with.

  • Sounds like a pretty substantial patch.

I'm glad I decided to hold off on picking this one up. I'm looking forward to playing it even more if they can smooth out some of the rough edges.

@Faaip Most definitely. I kinda regret playing it day one. Had some nice Skyrim flashbacks.

  • @Art hasn't really ruined the game for me tbh. framerate and the crashes are my biggest thing and thats mostly the multiplayer. I can see allies getting into some apex missions =D

  • @Art @Inustar This is what i mean by "the playdate" :P

  • @Art just beat the campaign yea you don't realize you're even on the final mission. I think the first architect on eos was the hardest fight in the game lol. that final boss fight was super easy lol
