Describe Your Taste in Games Using Only 5 Titles!

Victoria 2 (Real life based SLOW strategy games)
Banjo Kazooie (Pure quality and jolly fun)
Nier (Good stories that demand more of me than just being a passive observer)
Catherine (Yep I haven't seen that before)
Persona 5 (or 3 or 4, RPGs in general that really make me care about the characters)

Mass Effect 3
Super Mario Bros 2
Phantasy Star IV
I love story games, especially ones where I can make choices or get to know characters. I also adore fun cute games.
That being said I also will play almost anything else, but it tends to be the RPGs and platformers/puzzlers that get played the most.

This is a great idea @michemagius! Thanks for creating this thread.
For me, I won't include my overall top 5, but the first five that represent unique genres
Final Fantasy VII
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Gears of War 2
For me, you can tell my tastes are eclectic, yet particular. I guess when it comes down to it, the overwhelming majority of the games have either great story/characters, gameplay, or a combination of both. This is tough to narrow to five games, but there is NOTHING said about honorable mentions for genres ;-)
So not having a third person cartoonish duo with crazy unique weaponry, a first person puzzler with a mad female A.I., and a four-player co-op run and gun survival horror title actually completes the broad gambit. But five games are listed so...

Ocarina of Time
Mass Effect 2
I like games with good stories/characters, interesting worlds/lore, and an epic adventure. I like a bit of a challenge sometimes and I enjoy games that demand a lot time and commitment but reward you for it.

Hmmm, had to give this some thought because my tastes are so all over the map sometimes. My list changed a lot while I tried to avoid overlap and really think about what games I pick up the most and choose titles that covered various themes as well.
Night in the Woods (Story Driven/Exploration)
Harvest Moon: Animal Parade (Life Sims)
Pokemon Sun/Moon (RPGs)
Hyper Light Drifter (Action/Adventure)
The RPG choice is the one I struggled with the most, but Pokemon keeps the best balance I think.

Ar Tonelico 3
Give me loveable characters and tons of interaction with them, give me a sense of adventure, large varied casts of characters to recruit, meaningful stats and levels and incredible combat

Ancient Domains of Mystery
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
I do like RPG's and RPG elements in games, but I do like some old-school shooting and every once in a while I like to play something like Phoenix Wright, which focuses on more on story instead of gameplay. And finally, every once in a while I like to play Osu! to listen to fun music and keep hearing new songs, as I do love music.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Boundless exploration that feels meaningful
Valkyria Chonicles - Likable characters and interesting, unique gameplay
Zero Escape: Virtues Last Reward - Interesting characters with depth and a twisting labyrinthine story
Persona 4 Golden - I like characters, okay!
Animal Crossing New Leaf - Totally chill with player directed goal-setting

Guardian Heroes - Objectively the best game of all time. OF ALL TIME.
Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars - A great, timeless RPG that holds ip incredibly well even today. Play it at least once a year. Also a pioneer of vidya comedy.
Max Payne - I don't know about angels, but it's fear that gives men wings.
Dead Space - Holy fuck I love these games. A shame they never made a third one!
Bloodborne - Somebody said "Hey, that ElShmiablo likes King's Field games AND Lovecraftian horror. LETS MAKE THE PERFECT GAME FOR HIM!"

Dark souls (rpg/combat mastery)
The Last of us (linear story driven, and horror)

Titanfall 2 ( platforming and unique fps)
Metal Gear solid ( crazy ass story, and stealth)

The Last of Us
Grand Theft Auto V
Batman Arkham City
This is really hard to think about, to be honest. I'll go with these, still. They represent the genres and types of games that I really enjoy playing.

Super Smash Bros for Wii U
Fun little thread!
Final Fantasy IX - JRPG that is amazing and sums up the genera in a great way!
Titanfall 2 - FPS games with mechs and unique design
World of Warcraft - MMOs with raids and exploration
Darksiders - hack n slash adventure/action game
Burnout 3 - Arcade racing (even though racing games in general are awesome!)

I've decided that 5 games isn't enough, so I'm DOING ANOTHER 5
Burnout Paradise - HEY HEY YOU YOU I DON'T LIKE YOUR GIRLFRIEND
God of War - Sometimes you just have to brutally murder the entire Greek pantheon.
Smash Bros - I like to smash bros. Nuff said.
Half-Life - To be specific, the modding scene. I spent YEARS playing The Specialists, Natural Selection, Gary's Mod, Sven Coop, Day of Defeat, etc etc etc. Doesn't hurt that the actual games are masterpieces too.
Resident Evil - I love all the games in this series (save the dumpster fire that is 6) but my favorite has to be 5. Refined the systems introduced in 4 and is one of the best coop experiences available.

Wow this is a really neat idea and difficult to do. My tastes shift every few years or so but this would probably most accurately describe where I'm at currently.
Final Fantasy VII
Kingdom Hearts II
Final Fantasy Tactics
Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Super Mario World

Donkey Kong Country Returns
Dragon Warrior III
Street Fighter V
Batman Arkham City
Gameplay is everything to me. Let me be in control all of the time. I'm adversed to story driven games and rather have self propelled exploration and/or mastery of the gameplay mechanics as a focus.
I also love challenge modes and/or encouragement of speed runs.

Final Fantasy X
Mega Man X
Metroid Prime Trilogy (it may not be a single game but it is a title! :v )
I really like games that feel like they have a kind of culture/lore to them, as well as sci-fi/robotic elements. There are good few games out there I haven't completed yet I know that qualify and could be on this list (especially Horizon and Nier Automata), but I don't think I'm prepared to list a game I haven't beaten

@SuperDivatastic If you replaced Metroid Prime and changed Pokemon to X/Y you could've had a sweet X theme going, even moreso if you changed to Xenoblade Chronicles X.

These are next several games I would have chosen after my list above. I couldn't get it down to five because I typically have two favorite entries in the series I enjoy. These are a lot of complete experiences; titles with excellent stories, combat, puzzles, and level design. I'm tempted to put Life is Strange or Persona 3 or 5 on this list, but that series is so new to me — I haven't finished either of the games yet.
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (such a beautiful game too)
Okami (playable animals often provide creative styles of gameplay)
TLoZ: Majora's Mask (it's weird and it's a Zelda game)
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World (I really like the two leads of this spin off-y sequel.)
Super Paper Mario (Very overlooked, but I enjoyed this game much more than the N64 entry. Especially the writing and character work. The most I've ever cared about Luigi, Peach, and Bowser.)
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (some of the best environments and puzzles in games)
Monster Hunter Cross (My favorite multiplayer-ready Monster Hunter with all of the modern mechanics and some crazy new monsters.)
