Kill Your Babies!: Kill EVERYONE'S Babies!

I enjoyed my time with DQ8, but no matter how I look at it, I can't help but see it as an RPG that doesn't make much of an effort on worldbuilding and feels very much like a checklist.

The first episode of The Walking Dead was fantastic, and something that while not necessarily novel at the time, did introduce me to that modality of games

  • I did a count and realized there was an odd number in the first list. This shouldn't have been the case. So I re-catalouged the ENTIRE list, and played out the thread as it happens. Then I saw it:

Mass Effect 2, (and I'm too lazy to go through the entire thread for a fourth time to find out where) was inexplicably eliminated.

With that being said, THIS should be the most accurate list possible.

    GAMES TO KILL:

This now means: 40 games are still alive, and 30 games can rest easy... for now...

NOTE TO SELF: Don't implement the shield rule again. This is a personal nightmare <=-)

OH! I had an idea and since this thread is active, I wanted to post it to you all here to see what you thought: Because this is based off of the community's top 100 games, do you all think it should be updated at the end of the year, just in case any thing cracks the list? With Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and more aptly the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Persona 5, I was thinking games released since the list's publishing could qualify onto the list.

In order for this to work, many who contributed to creating the list would still have to have their personal lists on hand to make the adjustments.

I understand that A.) It's a whole HELL of a lot of work B.) Many who contributed to that endeavor do not come to these threads C.) I'm sure there have been new members to the forums since that would love to contribute and D.) IF (And I really hope we do) there is an EZA Community Top 25 games of 2017, the update would coincide with that list.

This is just an idea I had to keep up with this never-stopping passion of ours. Let me know what you think, though I am fully aware the upkeep is a logistical nightmare. Sorry for the unrelated tangent. Back to the baby killing.

  • Argh, now I'm super confused as the order changed in Brannox's updated shielded list. And at least Life is Strange should be there.

  • @Sentinel-Beach *Insert gif of hair pulling and head smashing into brick wall here

You're right. To give you context, what I did was copy the list, and with the new format, started from the very beginning by bolding what was saved and deleting what was killed. Then, I retyped out the list of To Kill and Shielded. So actually, BOTH lists (as of this second) are in order from the master list. But I'm making the Life is Strange update now. Thank you for the catch.

  • @Brannox Right, figured you were doing something like that. But great that there's this will in all of us to want to see this done right and that the list stays in order. We can do this!

  • FINAL UPDATE!!! THANK. GOD.

I realized a Kill/Save wasn't recorded properly due to the weird spamming issue. Half-Life was killed and Final Fantasy VIII was saved. While the save has been kept up, the Half-life kill threw me for a loop and inconsistently returned.

We are FINALLY back on track.

And the math checks out: 40 games means there are 20 saves left. There are 30 games saved. This gives us the 50 necessary to move to the next round.

(Simultaneously exhales and shouts in exhaustion)

  • Thanks @Brannox and @Sentinel-Beach for trying to keep things on track! The shielding is making this game incredibly interesting but if it only happens this one game I totally understand why! Hopefully as the list whittles down it will get easier.

  • @Inustar Yeah Mass Effect 3 is an amazing game, the last 20 minutes wasn't enough for me to dislike it like so many other people.

Hotline Miami is pure digital dopamine! One of the greatest soundtracks ever heard in a game, unbelievable. Add that to the whole quick nature of the game and you've got yourself a winner. Love it.

Starcraft gets the axe, it's simply a game I'd never see myself playing or enjoying. RTS love from me is a rare thing.

As much as I enjoyed Journey, there are simply just better games on this list. I'm killing Journey.

I'm saving Metal Gear Solid 4, for solidifying my purchase of a PS3 at that time. One of the few games that lived up to expectations.

Couldn't add the kill list because of the silly spam message. Hopefully as the list gets shorter, it should make it easier for me.

  • @Descendant said in Kill Your Babies!: Kill EVERYONE'S Babies!:

Couldn't add the kill list because of the silly spam message. Hopefully as the list gets shorter, it should make it easier for me.

I mentioned it earlier but if anyone missed it, adding some sort of arrow ---> in front of the game you're killing should fix the spam error. Not saying it is guaranteed but it worked for me earlier so it's worth a shot and makes your kill easy to find :)

  • @logic__error I've had it both ways now, as I actually had to remove the arrow from my latest kill post for it not to be interpreted as spam. Weird things.

  • @Sentinel-Beach That kinda makes sense, alternating probably confuses the filter best.

  • @logic__error What I did was after writing my post, Selected the entire post with ctrl + A, Cut it with ctrl + X, discarded the original reply, started a new reply, and pasted my post with ctrl + V and posted it, worked alright for me.

    Batman Arkham City

We can blame me killing Mario 64 on the fact I didn't have a N64.

Saving Arkham City because it's a great game, a great comic book game and a great Batman game.
