The forum hasn't had one of these threads in too long, and there's been a ton of incredibly game music already this year! Since I'm on a Mario Kart kick recently, I'd like to offer the credits music to my two most-loved MK games to start (Nintendo calls the credits themes 'staff roll' in all of their games).
Double Dash as well as the quasi-recent Mario Kart 8.
There's something special about the end of a Mario Kart game. Even without alternate battle modes, it feels like you've gone on a journey, and, when the credits play at the end of rainbow road, it is a culmination. I feel like these scores go beyond riffing on the track tracks (heh) before them and create something original and worthy — Double Dash focusing much more on piano and midi while 8 has a larger range of real instruments, namely lotsa sax. Then again, I'm not known for having the quickest ear, so let me know what you think as well.
I've posted this in the game section, but, since it's near E3, feel free to post songs from other media if you're jazzed.
And as @suplextrain has mentioned, try to use Reddit-style linking instead of just pasting the URLs and letting them embed. Especially if you have several songs to post.

If I have time later today I might add a couple.
But I have a request for the posters of this thread, please link to the youtube videos instead of posting them raw, too many and it slaughters the thread (like it has for the BozvWoz songtracker thread). Thanks!

really the most predictable answer but come on, these songs are just too good
I've also heard that the Nier Automata one is pretty incredible, but there's no way I'm spoiling myself on that, don't wanna lose another potential Song of the Ancients moment for myself

@bard91 I really dig the P5 dungeon themes as well. They seem to just get better and better, as the fourth dungeon theme and the fifth that you posted are my favorite. Just be cautious if you're reading this early in the game though, as the rightful title of the fourth dungeon theme (not in this link but likely within YouTube's recommendations) will spoil you.

Nier and Automata have phenomenal OST's while there is one song from Automata in particular id like to post I wont, simply because it could be considered a spoiler

I'm currently listening through Amplitude's (2015) soundtrack to calm down. Loved playing through that soundtrack, end to end. In particular, Dalatecht.
-
I'll post a couple of my favorite video game songs! I'll post more later.
Metroid Prime - Menu Select Theme
Chrono Cross - Orphanage of Flame
These tracks just PUMP ME UP.
Also, I would regret it if I didn't bring up this masterpiece.
-
@parasitepaladin Ah yes, the immortal classic, "Big Daddy Kanpai."
-
It's probably a bit late to go into the TLG soundtrack but I just finished Edith Finch and I really liked it. Very melancholic
-
@Haru17 I didn't find the fifth to be that good tbh it was the least memorable for me at least.
Fun fact about the P5 soundtrack, Meguro actually apologized to westerners in an interview for making the lyrics in English, since he says one of the main reasons for that is not to distract players with the lyrics when playing (since the game is intended primarily for a non-english speaking audience) and allow them to focus on the music itself. Meanwhile I'm singing along to The Whims of Fate non stop and enjoying every second of it.

@bard91 I just started the Palace with The Whims of Fate and immediately fell in love with that song. My favorite Palace theme for sure.
@parasitepaladin Metroid Prime had loads of fantastic songs which really fir the world. The menu theme is classic. So good.
I could say almost any song from Persona 5, but I think my current favorite is Life will Change, played when stealing the treasures. I like both the lyrical and instrumental.
Another one of my favorites right now is from Shove Knight which I only just recently played. In the Halls of the Usurper in the Pridemoor Keep stage is by far my favorite from the game.

@DeweyDTruman there's not enough love for Gitaroo Man, that is game that should really get some HD love

I feel like I've been gushing about it a lot already on these forums but the soundtrack to Tales from the Borderlands is godlike. The intro to every chapter is almost artful in design and reay sets the mood for what has/will transpire.
The intro to episode 5 with James Blake's song Retrograde nearly had me in tears.
-
@bard91 The fifth dungeon theme is The Whims of Fate. And yeah, I don't get why anyone apologized for the music. The more Englrish the better — it's part of Person's identity.
In any case, people heinously forget the rest of the rest of the Metroid Prime Trilogy. Here's a boss theme from 3, which is truly an incredible moment if you've played it.
-
@Haru17 I'm pretty sure The Whims of Fate is the sixth Palace, not the fifth.
You of all people should know the fifth Palace pretty well :P
-
@Tragosaurus I don't understand what you're getting at, but let's take the Persona 5 story spoiler stuff out of this thread. I know from experience that it makes people uneasy.
-
Some more recent songs from games I feel haven't gotten enough attention for their music.
King of Fighters XIV - Soy Sauce For Koyadofu (South Town Team Theme)
King of Fighters XIV - - C62 -KOF XIV Ver.- (Ryuji Yamazaki Theme)
King of Fighters XIV - Saxophone Under The Moon (Yagami Team Theme)
King of Fighters XIV - tachi bou ke (Athena VS Kensou Fateful Battle Theme)
King of Fighters XIV - Emergence (Rock Howard Theme)
Nioh - White Tiger
Nioh - Dazaifu Shrine Futamata
Nioh - Azuchi Castle@bard91 said in Songs & Soundtracks:
Persona 5 - Price
I also really like the alternate version that plays during the second part of that dungeon.
Persona 5 OST 53 - Price -another version-

I Am Setsuna OST-Immovable Object
As a person who dabbles in trying to play video game music on the piano, I love most of Setsuna's soundtrack.
-
@kirkking2000 I love that entire soundtrack as well. I listen to it regularly when doing homework or other things where I need to focus on something but don't want complete silence.
Two of my favorites from I Am Setsuna are March of the Brave and Into the Woods.
