Kill Your Babies! (Exhibition): Mangle the Mini-Games!

  • In our first KYB Exhibition: You must make sure the proper mini-game stands above them all!

As always, just in case there are new players, here are the rules:

Rule #1: When you make a kill, give your reason why you are killing. Just taking it out isn't all that inspiring. Whether you truly dislike it, you strike out of revenge, you feel that there are other important titles that should have made it, or you have legitimate critiques, explaining your kill is necessary to validate its death. Yes, even to those of you who kill because they're good (Because that makes sense =-D)

Rule #2: Please keep the updated list for the benefit of other players. Cross through your kill to identify what's been chosen.

Rule #3: You may kill another game after only four other people have made a kill OR if 12 hours have passed from the last overall kill (not necessarily your own). This should be plenty of time for others to get involved.

Rule #4: If you fail to give a reason, make a 2nd kill without allowing the time to pass/proper amount of players a turn, or if there is an unforeseen issue up for potential review, your kill may not be recognized. This rule is subjective to the situation and hopefully will not be implemented.

Rule #5: Per normal, we will have a straw poll for the final two. Please vote for the one you want to win, not lose.

Let me know if you have any questions. Your kills are your own, so be ruthless, uncompromising, and most importantly:

    HAVE FUN!!!

I actually have no issue with Blitzball, but maybe because I was good enough in the game to where I never felt like it was stupid? I dunno. A lot of people grumble about it though. So to quote the first thread "Someone's got to do it".

A sensationalist headline reading 'Is Gwent Better than Hearthstone?' doesn't actually make a mini game any better. Gwent is a symptom of the disproportionate hype created around The Witcher 3 and will die with it. It was fun, for like two games, then it became overinflated difficulty, trial and error garbage like the rest of the combat in that game.

  • @Haru17 To be fair it doesn't take a lot to be better than Hearthstone.

UFO Catcher's fun times but dang there's just so many better minigames here, even just including the ones from the Yakuza series itself. It does not die because of low quality but just because this list is an embarrassment of riches.

Had to look up what this game even was. Seems tedious.

  • @DeweyDTruman Your TCG has to be out on phones for it to be better than Hearthstone, mostly. Besides that if you can just not charge the vintage Blizzard extra $20 and have everything take longer to necessitate that extra $20 purchase, you're golden.

Gwent is a much simpler game that costs $60 and is playable on a TV with extra time spent fast traveling through a dreary, muddy low fantasy world to get to the next match — woh-wah.

  • @Haru17 Not for much longer though, since Gwent is getting a full release and will be free. Still no mobile support though.

  • @SabotageTheTruth Then those headlines were only a few months over two years too early.

Entertainment journalism: How do people magnets work?

  • @Haru17 I meant more in the sense that I think Hearthstone is a fundamentally bad card game but w/e, I'll fully admit I've never played Gwent in any form in my life (Witcher 3 just isn't high on my to-do list and even if it was I'd have to play the first two beforehand.) so it's not like I'm saying it's better just that I don't think saying "better than hearthstone" is the highest praise.

  • @DeweyDTruman I think Hearthstone is a decent card game given Gwent's limited nature and Magic's sheer unwieldiness to actually play with people. I'm very willing to switch to something like Elder Scrolls: Legends whenever that comes to phones, as HS has only recently transitioned from having a constrictive meta to having several workable deck archetypes built around new, very powerful and expensive cards, and I think Blizzard games' inherent greed make me physically ill. That all said, I don't think the pace and price of Hearthstone make it unfun — you just have to netdeck and watch streamers who actually know what they're doing to win / enjoy it.

I feel like that one is cheating a bit, it's not an original mini-game, its actually a full game jammed into another full game. Let's give priority to fresh ideas!

I don't like playing mini games that are just versions of codified games just to get the achievements for the game's they're in. They should have something unique that relates to the game they're in, and 'cuz cowboys' doesn't do that for me. What's more, playing a classical card game without other people just kind of lacks a point to me. At that point it's just luck and computer men.

It's a solid minigame but it's just not the kinda game I like playing personally speaking. I feel like I got pretty far before I hit a roadblock that just made me go "nah, not having fun anymore, would rather just talk to Selmers or something."

The entire game is minigames one after other, and it ruins friendships more easily than mariokart. Crazy Cutter may be one of the better minigames, but I still dislike the entire game.

I just don't think it's that good. Also, the slaying of Gwent left a bitter hole in my heart.

  • I knew Gwent would be killed pretty much right away, but still it hurt. Really looking forward to that solo game later on (this year?), couldn't get enough of it in Witcher. So good, the musics and all.
