It's an 8 and we don't need two Ratchet & Clank games on the list.

Donald gives all healers a bad name. I don't care if this kill makes my Heartless form come out, or if I become a Nobody, or other normal words that take on strange meanings in this series.

    Tomb Raider (2013)

Let's face it, Asylum is the best game in the series and a masterpiece. City was good, but I didn't enjoy it as much. Arkham Knight was ok, but personnally, I thought there was way too many missions/sidequests involving the car or the tank. It seems to me the bigger they try to make their game, the less focused it is.

Fun, good times, but of all of them... blerg. Had to kill it next.

  • @Sentinel-Beach On Resistance: At the outset of me gaining a better awareness/understanding of studios and developers as opposed to "Hey, this game looks cool!," you are correct about your comparison. Insomniac throughout my teens was my studio, for the reasons you stated. However, now that I'm in my mid-twenties and have followed gaming in more ways and more in-depth for an extended period of time, Naughty Dog has supplanted them, but Insomniac is still top three. Both are excellent, but I wanted to respond because I felt you did a great analysis. For Resistance specifically, I enjoy the first quite a bit because of it's premise, setting, and enemies. While I disagree, I appreciate your kill ;-)

@jipostus About your first Gears kill: It does belong on a best of list if said is an opinion, but like Sentinel, I appreciate your reason!

@Sentinel-Beach About DOOM II: Two words. Super. Shotgun.

@SabotageTheTruth UH-GREED. I ALWAYS, and I do mean ALWAYS switch Donald out in EVERY world.

Everybody else: I'm loving how this is going! Keep up the slaughter!!!

    Mass Effect 2
    Horizon: Zero Dawn
    Batman: Arkham City
    Sly 2: Band of Thieves
    God of War II
    Tomb Raider (2013)

I've got no real love for final fantasy (aside from 4 for whatever reason) but from what I've played of the two on this list I know which one deserves to go the long haul on this list and which one shoulda been cut fifteen posts ago.

  • Final Fantasy VII
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
    Portal 2
    Left 4 Dead
    DOOM (1993)
    Gauntlet: Dark Legacy
    Mass Effect 2
    Horizon: Zero Dawn
    Batman: Arkham City
    Sly 2: Band of Thieves
    God of War II
    Tomb Raider (2013)

Almost done with my first playthrough and I don't really like it. Maybe the remake will fix its faults.

  • Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
    Portal 2
    Left 4 Dead
    DOOM (1993)
    Gauntlet: Dark Legacy
    Mass Effect 2
    Horizon: Zero Dawn
    Batman: Arkham City
    Sly 2: Band of Thieves
    God of War II
    Tomb Raider (2013)

While alright fun with friends, it needs other people to be played. It's not like I don't have friends, it's just that it's hard for us to manage time to play it proper.

  • Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
    Portal 2
    DOOM (1993)
    Gauntlet: Dark Legacy
    Mass Effect 2
    Horizon: Zero Dawn
    Batman: Arkham City
    Sly 2: Band of Thieves
    God of War II
    Tomb Raider (2013)

Sooo... let's do this. The game was a nice surprise, I felt like Lara had done a successful comeback. However, Rise is even better, and I simply lack a deeper connection to this TR that I have developed to practically all the others on the list still.

  • Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
    Portal 2
    DOOM (1993)
    Gauntlet: Dark Legacy
    Mass Effect 2
    Horizon: Zero Dawn
    Batman: Arkham City
    Sly 2: Band of Thieves
    God of War II

Just not that into R&C. Also, name is too long.

  • Portal 2
    DOOM (1993)
    Gauntlet: Dark Legacy
    Mass Effect 2
    Horizon: Zero Dawn
    Batman: Arkham City
    Sly 2: Band of Thieves
    God of War II

I admit, I had no idea what this game was. Did a little digging and woof. This seems like one of those games you have a lot of fun with when you're younger but you know it is realistically not a very good game and love it regardless. That's fine, we all have those games. I'm not gonna this one make it to the finals though!

  • Portal 2
    DOOM (1993)
    Mass Effect 2
    Horizon: Zero Dawn
    Batman: Arkham City
    Sly 2: Band of Thieves
    God of War II

Nope, not letting a Bioware game make it to the end. I'm here to shield you all from them. I'd rather eat a bowl of Corn Flakes naked on a rooftop in Arizona while the blistering sun beats down on my pale flesh than play this game.

In space, no one can hear how bored you are.

  • Portal 2
    DOOM (1993)
    Horizon: Zero Dawn
    Batman: Arkham City
    Sly 2: Band of Thieves
    God of War II

Sly cooper games aren't THAT great.

  • Portal 2
    DOOM (1993)
    Horizon: Zero Dawn
    Batman: Arkham City
    God of War II

No way am I gonna let Portal to the end. I just enjoy my games in third-person way more, always been that way, and here are great candidates left. And of course grandpa Doom is the one exception when it comes to FPS genre.

  • DOOM (1993)
    Horizon: Zero Dawn
    Batman: Arkham City
    God of War II

This list has three games I think are really, really good and one I haven't played and don't think looks very interesting. Not really a hard pick.

  • DOOM (1993)
    Batman: Arkham City
    God of War II

I enjoyed it, but it's also the least pared down and "clean" title on the list. Sorry. :(

  • whoa, good finalists

  • And we have our final two, and may I say I'm surprised at the finalists we have!

DOOM (1993) is in its THIRD KYB final and I thought FOR SURE its popularity would eventually mark its death somewhere in the middle.

God of War II making it is even more surprising, because I have gotten the feeling I like the series more than most here in the community (Though I'm probably very wrong in this case) going off of running these threads and the Top 100 list we built last year. I thought alongside Gears of War, Mass Effect, the Naughty Dog titles, I thought it would have a very early departure. Huh.

Anyway, which game do you feel SHOULD be my favorite of all time? Click the link to make your voice heard about come back sometime around 11 a.m. EST to find out the winner!

    http://www.strawpoll.me/13012339

  • And by a score of 10-2, the game you feel should be my favorite of all time is...

    DOOM (1993)!

DOOM is now the ONLY game to win a vote three separate times! And it's a great pick.

These past couple of lists have been quite interesting to watch. While there was maybe two or three kills that made me raise an eyebrow, this went with a lot less "Mwahahaha" from you all than I was expecting. Thanks for your participation, regardless of how involved you were!
