Metro Exodus (PC/XBO/PS4)

  • It’s 2019, there are usually no major differences between a console and PC version of a video game and rarely do video games exclusively release on PC because power and stability isn’t an issue anymore.

Back in the day, I’d tell somebody they need a gaming PC to play The Witcher 2, something consoles are completely incapable of. Or I’d tell somebody, you really need to try Mass Effect on PC because it runs so much more stable.

In 2015, I bought the Metro Redux on-sale for PS4 and those games were beautiful and made me realize I can actually play FPS games again (I usually suck at them so badly).

We’re all caught up here in this PC vs Console debate. We have been for a long time. I had Battlefield 4 on both PS4 and PC and I enjoyed both experiences equally. I’m getting Apex Legends on both PS4 and PC. When I have time, will play with friends who use both platforms. It’s not that different. This isn’t a matter of opinion either, watch any Digital Foundaty tech analysis. Everything is the same nowadays. Plus I’m not rich, my 2K @ 60f PC monitor is as good as I can afford right now. Which means, I could actually run a game like Forza Horizon 4 at a higher resolution on consoles because a 4K TV (which I have) is more affordable than 4K monitors. So that is one example of console version at an advantage.

Almost guarantee Metro on console will be just as great.

  • I generally did used to go for PC over console for FPS simply because of the mouse, but my PC just isn't really up to date anymore and good exclusives are so rare these days. I still love my PC for older games though, ones that thankfully remain exclusive to the platform.

In fairness, Doom is a very different experience on PC over Console. It's the same with Overwatch. It's not just about it running at 60fps on Console. Due to the control scheme, PC is a lot quicker.

A good example is to just check out that Doom Eternal showing. They started off with the Console version and then showed the PC version and the difference in speed is huge.

  • Judging from the previous two Metro games that i played on PS4 (by Metro Redux, really good games both of them), it will be just fine on consoles. They're both quite slow-paced, so not having super fast and accurate mouse controls won't hurt most people. I assume Metro Exodus won't go too far from that (they better don't). I don't remember both of them having big performance issues either, although that might change this time (very unlikely). I'll probably get it on PS4, just to complete the package.

  • David Jagneaux - GameCrate:

Metro Exodus is a masterful execution of a dying breed of video game: the measured, finely tuned, linear single player action game.

I like that summary. Same reason why I value Uncharted 4 so much. Measured, fine tuned, linear, action.

  • Anyone know who is doing the Review or when it will be posted?

  • @paulmci27 I thought I saw that Ben was reviewing it, and that it would be up soon, but I could be wrong.

    E3 vs retail.

if it was EA or ubisoft. it would have been downgraded but its other way around. congrats 4A games.

  • So currently playing it. first hour was very scripted. then went to volga and things get better.

game is amazing so far. only problem is its just so scripted and cutscenes are waay too long. 2033 and last light didnot had that long cutscene.

plus story is worse than previous games.

Metro has always been an incredibly scripted series.
I'm not sure what you were expecting.

    its more scripted.

2033 and last light has short cutscene here and there, this game has insanely long cutscene and story is weak compare to how amazing story in 2033 and last light were.

  • went to volga. the game is amazing. it combine the elements of STALKER, Crysis, Half life and unfortunately COD too.

its one of the most immersive and one of the best FPS in years.

  • @b-cell
So by your logic as stated here and elsewhere, you hate it as it has a bit of COD in your dish

rest of game is fine. all i hate is COD influence here.

  • Started playing yesterday, reached the first open area, i like the game alot but one thing i noticed is that characters talk alot, i was like "ok I'm leaving now.. why are you still talking? ", plus i don't remember in Last light if the main character talks but it is a little annoying that he doesn't talk even to his wife.

  • @a7x458
He talked during loading screens in Last Light
