Monster Hunter: World (PS4/XB1/PC)

  • Pre ordered the game and exited to jump in, but i have some questions :

1- Is it hard to change the weapon style mid game?

2- does the armour pieces have wight stat like souls games?

  • I just tried the beta this weekend and really loved it! It's my first time playing a Monster Hunter game so it's a lot to take in. But I think the game explains things in a good way and it feels pretty accessible. I heard it's not as intimidating as the older incarnations. How are you MH veterans feeling about this latest title? Are you happy about the changes they've made?

  • @A7X458 There is no weight mechanic like Elder Scrolls, or anything that changes your evade speed or how fast your character moves like Nioh. Armor only differs in skills, defense, elemental resistance, and appearance.

For your question about switching weapons type, besides actually crafting a current tier weapon, it's all down to instinct and practice. There is no character leveling, perk tree, or weapon proficiency stat. Depending on the kind of player you are though, it may be beneficial to play through much of the game with one kind of weapon to build up your instincts with it. And more related to your other question, some weapon types have different movement speeds and evade animations while drawn.

Personally, I feel that hardly anything was removed from the base formula. Rather, they’ve built upon the foundation of the older games that we love. I was expecting much bigger alterations to improve accessibility and scale, but I was amazed at how familiar it all felt. Every element I have come to love was present in all its glory. The difference seems to be the vision: it all seems bigger and more detailed, with some intelligent quality-of-life implementations. Also, it seems that they’ve doubled down on that sense of a believable yet alien ecosystem, with all the little interactions between different elements and creatures.

  • I started an EZA Monster Hunter Discord channel a while back, and it actually has a good amount of members. It was only utilized here and there, but we’re in the process of revamping it and adding some stuff. Hopefully it’ll be a good hub for EZA hunters new and old to gather and have a good time.

I actually haven't gotten a chance to buy it yet, going to rectify that as soon as I get out of work.

  • @SabotageTheTruth I was leaning towards doing so until I came home to find my PS4 external hard-drive not working and having the PS4 acting up as well, I think it is working fine now but having spent more than I wanted too recently I'm gonna err on the side of caution for now.

  • ill jump in when i clean up the backlog a bit

  • The Paolumu fight is actual genius, the Coral Highlands is like top 5 video game levels so far. Must sleep.
