@binarymelon No.. what I mean is: I buy CoD on PS4 and play 100 hours on it and reach level 5X, then lets say i want to play with my friends on xbox, and BUY it again on Xbox but, with cross progression, I would log in to an existing activision account that's linked to my ps4 and xbox account, and boom I'm on my xbox playing CoD level 5X. Just like fornite does .. it carries over your progress. I do not mean to buy the game only on one platform and expect to have it on all of them, that's too much to ask in my opinion.

@edsortiz isn't some progress in fortnite tied to purchases though? I haven't played more than a handful of matches, so I don't know much about it.
EA is considering crossplay for FIFA. That would be HUGE.
"It's something we've looked at, and it's something we often talk about," he said, before suggesting first-party policy is to blame.
"There are a lot of issues to work through. I'm trying to be diplomatic here! There are a lot of issues to work through with various first parties. But Fortnite does that now with PC to consoles.
"From a consumer standpoint, it makes the community that much broader, which makes it that much more compelling."
The Minecraft better together update is now live on Switch

Good guy Todd fighting the good fight.
Nintnedo is open to support publishers to incorporate crossplay with competing platforms.
Crossplay with other platforms on the Nintendo Switch versions of games such as Fortnite and Minecraft has been a point of appeal. Could you talk about the relationships between Nintendo and other publishers, and your initiatives for multi-platform titles?
Susumu Tanaka (Senior Executive Officer):
Crossplay basically comes about from conversations between publishers and platform holders. We are inclined to do what we can to help publishers incorporate crossplay when that is what they want.
The other parties involved also have a say in whether we are able to reach this outcome or not, so we will continue to discuss it with them.
RPG Maker will feature data transfer between Xbox One and Switch.

I'm kinda glad this is happening
Xbone and Switch pushing for Crossplay
I can understand Sony doing what they're doing, regardless of the outcry the PS4 is still selling like hotcakes and so are their games
they've been the Villain for quiet a while
Bethesda leading the good fight.
Elders Scroll Legends may not release on platforms that does not support crossplay or crossprogression.

I really feel like the tide is turning against Sony on this one. They come across as so out of touch! And it certainly sours the messaging behind their '4 the Players' slogan...
It's not because of the profits you silly, it's because the other platforms are worse.

That's so great to hear, the uproar was effective at the end. Hope it follows to more games.
@el-shmiablo I guess it no longer is. :)

@lordbaztion Nah, I think it still applies. ;)
But hey, glad to see Sony finally bent the knee. Their strategy of waiting until people weren't so up their ass about it worked. Waited for some bigger controversies to overshadow it, and then finally implemented it.

@tokeeffe9 I think we should start to see them open it up to everyone. Devs and publishers would be at their throats if they started playing favourites.

Cool was expecting this to happen this year, granted I was expecting it to be announced at PSX

I have no interest in cross play personally, but this was a much needed move. I actually thought they were never going to do it, but i guess Sony's not too arrogant after all. Have fun, everyone! I hope they do eventually roll out to other games, but i think it's just a question of when at this point.
