That's News!

  • Console wars are yesterday's news. It's all about stream wars from now on j/k
I can see why State of Play was disappointing for many but since I am with that 4,5% people who owns PSVR, I think it was a solid "direct" excluding that Ironman VR opener. I don't care about MK but it was the best they ended on with it. Swimming in 7s. Nothing big but short enough to cover what they had.

  • @mbun you can't say what I did is console wars and yours isn't.

  • @iboshow I just pointed out "look it is happening again" to something people have become pretty accustomed to. You were aiming to defend what the user Yoshi said about Sony by deflecting it with something you could twist to sound bad about Nintendo. The difference is a willingness to indiscriminately call out bullshit across the board instead of creating bullshit to play camp favorites. There's plenty of valid reasons to express dissatisfaction for things, but someone insulting the things you do isn't one of them, except in the case of the things being similar enough where you can draw some sort of meaningful comparison between the two. Attempting to throw Yoshi's Crafted World under the bus isn't going to make people like that State of Play presentation any more than they currently did.

It wasn't even as bad as yall are acting like it was, besides that awful opener Iron Man VR game. Just another case of people's expectations being out of whack, but I'll forgive them this time since we had very little clue structurally what we'd be getting before the presentation aired. I'm all for more of those on the regular. Only part I didn't care for was how much the screens at the end of talking about a game looked like you were watching an ad on Youtube or whatever. Felt kind of dry without anything fun between the games, (Nintendo has done some like this before and weren't any better about it then) but I'll sympathize with Kyle's view of wanting to be treated more as an adult and not have to sit through bits ...even though he does bits all the time himself.

  • Senran Kagura series producer will be leaving Marvelous to join CyGames
    https://www.siliconera.com/2019/03/27/kenichiro-takaki-leaves-marvelous-due-to-recent-policies-joins-cygames-to-make-a-fantasy-game/

Senran Kagura series’ boobie producer Kenichiro Takaki revealed in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine that he has left Marvelous after 13 years and has joined Cygames for something new.

According to Takaki, the biggest reason he left Marvelous is due to the recent policies that have restricted sexual depictions. He personally felt a thread snap with that. He says that while sexual content tends to get criticized a lot, it has just as much people who enjoy it.

Takaki always believed that such variety was one of the things that supported the games industry, but after realizing how easily that could be broken, it made him think about other things. While Takaki welcomes restrictions and regulations that are made to protect certain genres and surroundings, he felt that this recent trend is happening for the purpose of shutting things down.

As for his next work, Takaki wants to work on an orthodox fantasy-like game that he used to be crazy about when he was a child. He joined Cygames with that in mind, and is currently working on a title for consoles.

Senran Kagura fans who were looking forward to the next titles won’t have to worry, as he will continue working on those and will make sure they get finished. However, he says Senran Kagura 7even will take some time. The base of the game won’t change, but there are some parts that need upgrading. After that he hopes either he or someone else can finish it and bring it to the fans. The presentation of erotic gags are better than ever, and he will continue working with the staff of Senran Kagura.

“I’ll let Marvelous handle the adjustments, but I’ll continue to stick around as the boobie producer,” said

As for other work at Marvelous, he’s currently part of a new multimedia project that involves a game and anime. The original plan was by Takaki and it features character designs by Hanaharu Naruko and animation directed by Hiraku Kaneko.

The new project doesn’t involve Senran Kagura, but Marvelous will be the producers. It has beautiful girls, but their clothes won’t be coming off. It is described as an orthodox hot-blooded game, and its development started about a year and a half ago. It features a girl riding a bike, so it sounds like a possible action game.

Takaki wants to make something amazing that will make people think it’s cheeky coming from the “Boobie Producer.”

“The place I work and the nature of my work may change, but I won’t and will not change what I want to show,” said Takaki. “I’m a video game fan down to the core and I say dirty jokes and spout a lot of nonsense [laughs], but when it comes to making games, I always give it my best.”

  • Oh God, Gearbox posted a teaser video of thier new game. And damn I cant figure it out. Is it a new ip, a spin off to something, a sequel. Damn you gearbox and your vagueness

I was hoping for a Larian Studios Fallout game but I can go for one more Divinity game.

  • @dmcmaster

It's probably an un-encrypted USB of trade secrets, company information, and under aged webcam porn.

  • The Surge and Conan Exiles are the Plus games for April.

  • Announcement teaser from Sam Barlow (Her Story) and Annapurna.

  • @dipset And the login info for the bank account they put all the embezzled funds into.

  • @hanabi
And its actually Colonies Marine's 2

  • @dmcmaster

I'd high key prefer an outsourced Colonial Marines 2 over Borderlands 3 so long as Gearbox misappropriates their financing for it to make Duke Nukem Forever-er, then churn out Colonial Marines 2 in 5 minutes to show they made SOMETHING.

In all seriousness, I enjoyed Colonial Maries even thought I acknowledge its awful. It was a once in a lifetime experience where my roommate and I couldn't stop laughing at how bad it was. Give me Shellshock 3 while we're at it.

  • @dipset Protip: You can make Colonial Marines much more enjoyable by fixing a typo in an ini file that was never fixed which makes enemy AI much more aggressive and complex.

It is almost majestic how fucked up the game is.

  • Calling it now Duke class DLC

  • I don't know if we already knew this, but Wolfenstein: Youngblood releases on July 26.

  • @capnbobamous We definitely didn't know that before. Really want to see some gameplay first though.

Also, the deluxe edition bonus is pretty cool.
The Deluxe Edition includes the Cyborg Skin Pack and the Buddy Pass, which allows you and a friend to play the entire game together, even if your friend doesn’t own the game!

  • @bam541 My only thing is that New Colossus left room for a direct sequel, as in right after the events of that game, which isn't what we're getting. Youngblood just seems like an odd direction for the series to go, but hey, hopefully I'm wrong.

  • @capnbobamous I actually think that the ending kinda felt like a "closing chapter" for BJ's main adventure. He's far from done, for sure, but I felt that the devs was setting up for others to take the mantle. I'm personally very interested in Youngblood, even though I probably only play solo.

  • @capnbobamous Wolfenstein: Youngblood same date as Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

    That's... inconvenient!
