@scotty Yes but what I mean is that we most likely won't be seeing the true benefit of the next generation consoles for some time because the games being made for them also have to be made for 7 year old hardware that can barely run games at 30fps/900p.
Of course there are many more combinations of PC parts out there than there are consoles, but consoles are also highly scalable and moddable. There is a YouTube channel I am subscribed to that focuses mostly on pushing games past their lowest settings so that they can run on potatoes.

It's easier to enhance some old gen game to new gen's resolution and frame rate than creating something with the standards of new gen and trying that to run at new gen's standard.
This is the first time I'm hearing it, it mustn't be a mainstream practice.

@scotty That's... what I've been saying this whole time.
You won't get games on the new consoles that really take full advantage of the new hardware because the games will need to be designed around the limitations of 7 year old hardware that was already considered weak when it came out.

Woah baby! That's waaaaay better than a Mafia II remaster. I can finally play the original. The writing in Mafia II was top notch so I am very excited to try out the original which fans say has the best and most focused storyline.
I wonder if they'll polish up Mafia III a bit too. I heard the story is good but the gameplay is bland and buggy.

@dipset Yeah, gameplay is my big question mark for all 3. People always seem to enjoy the story of these games but take issue with some part of the gameplay. Hopefully this doesn't just update appearance but also, at minimum, quality of life.

I wish I was as passionate as Huber.
Having only played Mafia II, I never minded the gameplay as a story driven open world game. Sure the cover system was a bit clunky and missions were kinda generic, but I generally liked it. Good enough gameplay wise.

Mafia 1 is one of the best game ever made. you missed out alot

@dmcmaster I don't think 3 would need much more than some touching up, while 2 would probably need a lot more work in terms of character models, geometry, lighting, shaders, etc.

Mafia 1 is masterpiece and one of the best game ever made. so glad its getting proper remake than remastered.
Mafia 2 and 3 will be just remastered. and i dont know why they are wasting budget on mafia 3 since its worst in series. but still excited for Mafia 1 remake.

I'm surprised that they don't sell Mafia: Definitive Edition as a seperate game. It looks great and this will be the first time I'll playing it.
