Looking more like the EA / Codemasters deal is going to happen. Bids still on the table but I doubt anybody will go beyond $1.2B but hopefully those are famous last words.
I'm not a die hard Codemasters fan or anything. I even think their quality control has been weak the past few years, but EA has never just left their network of studios to their own devices. They always incorporate them into the greater EA plans somehow and ultimately close down shop or tear the place apart. I don;t think they'll continue to develop and publish without EA's hand somewhere down the line.
Best case scenario, Codemasters makes new games for dormant EA IPs. Worst case, they are a support studio or a bunch of shitty Star Wars games.

I saw a comment about Codemasters thing and thought it was interesting: EA probably buying the Codemasters just to bury and making sure there is no competition for racing genre.

That would fall under my "best case scenario". In reality, it's probably more like designing Jeep's in BF6.

@dipset the BF6 jeep design jobs will only come if they fail, and EA has a really bad habit of setting up their own games for failure (although recently it hasn't been too bad for them), so it's a scary possibility. I'm sure they'll keep making the F1 games since they have the license for it, but everything else might go away one day.
