Weeb Games (Japanese Games Appreciation Thread)
@JamboHyland95 You bet I do, already pre-ordered. The trilogy (on PS4 actually a Quadrilogy thanks to a whole new episode) was never released in europe and I only aquired a modded PS2 a few years ago, and only got my hands on the 1st one as US versions are/were pretty expensive, so as someone who only played the original Quadrilogy I'm very happy to finally be able to play G.U. as a whole.

@Musou-Tensei Need a remaster of those too, btw. Only ever got to play the first two of them.

Getting G.U too, loved Sign but I didn't have a PS2 till the time G.U 2 came out I think
Also figured out what I have to do for Castle Panzers, need to grind for items, but first need to figure out which mission has the items I need.
@Minamik I'd love that too eventually, I don't own them, only borrowed them from my brother back then (he still has them), but I'm glad we get G.U. 1st as I never really got to play those, after realizing how expensive G.U. 2&3 were at that time when I bought the 1st one relatively cheap, I decided to not play through it till I have aquired 2&3, which never happened.
@DMCMaster Wow what a drag, I think I'll wait till it's on a sale on play-asia, I'm still interested but stuff like this is too much for that price.
New Trailer with story and gameplay for Dragon Ball FighterZ
English trailer for The Witch and the Hundred Knight 2, no gameplay
Sigh, NISA... the re-translation takes longer than they thought, wholoe voice clips need to be re-recorded as well, so it and the PC release have been delayed to early 2018. Yeah if I buy this when the patch is actually good it will be a used copy, sick of NISA's bs. I hope Falcom never works with them again. GIVE COLD STEEL 3 TO XSEED!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nintendo is having a Xenoblade 2 Direct on November 7th, don't think I will watch it, I've seen enough, I'm sold, gimme.
Arc System Works is opening up a US branch
Technically it's a japanese game so I'll put it here as well, Deadly Premonition is now part of teh XB1's 360 backward compatibility
Dualshockers have reviewed .hack G.U. with a 9, can't wait for tuesday
Bunch of Screenshot for Senran Kagura: Burst Re:Newal
And Raiden V: Director's Cut is finally releasing in europe for PS4.

@Musou-Tensei I'm probably just not aware of it, but I've seen other people in other sites complain about NISA outside of the Ys 8 problems, what have they done (or not done) to earn this reputation?
@bard91 tl;dr they have no respect for the creator's intend unless the creator is strict about it. They also create bugs the japanese versions don't have.
They are kinda notorious, from simply bad translations over censorship to releasing games that could destroy your console (the japanese versions didn't), already in the PS2 era they apparently released some buggy messes that can become unbeatable due to bugs created during localization. It seems that when not hold on a tight leash by the rights holder they are rather sloppy with their translations and tend to insert lame memes where they don't belong, like this shit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3NsY3pwKMA
The only one who seems to be able to control NISA is Kadokawa as their Demon Gaze localizations is pretty decent and I still have hopes for Demon Gaze 2, but I'm holding out till it's confirmed to not be crap.
The PS3 version of The Witch and the Hundred Knight had a bug that could cause the system to overheat later in the game, in worst case destroying it. They are known for bugs and also cutting content https://www.reddit.com/r/vita/comments/2a046m/reminder_not_to_buy_any_nisa_games/
Seeing neptunia mentioned in that reddit, it's true, when I played Mk2 I was confused many times because the characters said things that simply didn't matched up with the 1st game. There are reasons Idea Factory eventually decided to do it themselves and stopped working with NISA.
And then of course the mess with Ys VIII, one of the main reasons Falcom gave the game to NISA insted of Xseed was the PROMISE of a simultanious PC release, something Xseed (and neither NISA apparently) is able to do. No PC release happening this year.

@Musou-Tensei Interesting I believe my only experience with them up until know are the Danganronpa games, and I don't have any personal complaints with those, the deal with Falcom definitively seems like really shitty business practices.
@Musou-Tensei it's weird to see NISA painted in such a bad light, now I don't really keep my nose to the ground on these things but I love Disgaea and literally buy every re-release of every game , is this just a thing they do with third parties?? Because the Disgaea localisation are always on point, bug-wise I can only think of one bug in Disgaea 2 that would crash your system if you and your enemy countered each other enough times.

@JamboHyland95 I couldn't speak for which games they do and don't mess up horribly (literally the only game I've ever bought from them is ZHP) but there used to be a gigantic list of their various issues, wish I saved it. I'm pretty sure D2 had a horrible bug that melted PS3 CPUs but I might be wrong on that. Even beyond that though there's stuff like Witch and the Hundred Knight which would crash at times, a character's name in some game (Atelier I think) being changed into a STD joke and a whole host of other games where they just cut content left and right.
I think they try to do better with Disagea (and Danganronpa) because they're their biggest franchises so if they screw them up then there will be a lot more people complaining than usual, but they've definitely got a spotty record in general.
@DeweyDTruman damn man that sucks, kinda thought they were one of the good guys. They just sound sloppy from the sounds of it :/
Hey, guys need your opinions on some potential weeb buys. it's my birthday coming up soon and I gotta save the cash but I'm gonna spend around 80-100 euro of my money on some games and kinda have it narrowed down, but would like some opinions from you guys on my final picks, one note is that my budget is kinda tight for the foreseeable future so bang for my buck is definitely a priority so here's what I'm thinking of so far (These are the Amazon UK prices, Ireland doesn't have its own site....):
- Danganronpa 3 (49.99£ )
- Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey (16.85£)
- Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book (18.99£)
- .hack//G.U. Last Recode (39.99£)
- Nonary Games (29.99£)
- Zero Time Dilemma (33.82£)
- Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Although I probably wouldn't play it till patch) (35.99£)
These are what I'm thinking of at the moment but obviously, if you know of any hidden gems on ps4/vita/PC/3DS please let me know.

@JamboHyland95 I can't speak at all for .Hack or the Atelier games, but I'm also interested in checking them out.
The Nonary games I would highly recommend, and I wouldn't recommend Zero Time Dilemma until after that, and only if you liked them as I don't think these games are for everyone and ZTD is the low point of the trilogy.
Danganronpa 3 I've just begun but it is a no brainer for me as a Danganronpa fan, so I would recommend the series overall but I can't say for 3 specifically.
Ys 8 I've only played the demo and it convinced me along with some reviews that I want to play it, so I'll be getting it soon, from what I've read Falcom's approach to Ys is very different to the Trails games, but I still want to look more into what they do, so yeah I have it as a high priority, and I'm honestly not sure if I'd wait for the patch.
@bard91 Seems like we're in the same boat, I loved Virtues last reward and got like 30 hours in before I faded, never got a chance to play 999 and obviously have yet to play Zero Time Dilemma. Danganronpa is calling to me, but its so lore heavy I feel like I should play 1&2 again I also have to watch the anime that concludes their arcs so thats a bit off-putting. I loved the ys 8 demo and loved ys 7 so its a definite purchase at some point. I'm pretty unfamiliar with Falcoms work other than Trails and Ys, but loved them so much that id love to dig into their back catalog and see what they've done.

@JamboHyland95 I'm honestly not even worrying with the Danganronpa lore for 3, it's been a while since I've played the first two, and haven't fully watched any of the animes, I occasionally watch some lore videos on a youtube channel, whcih mostly helps me realize how little I know about the series, but I'm ok if I happen to miss some of the intricacies of the story because of that.
@bard91 That's true, but at the same time, I'm kinda all in it for the weird story now, even though DR2 went a bit bonkers in some places. Its still some of the most intriguing stuff out there at the moment.

@JamboHyland95 Get yourself Danganronpa v3 for sure, but only if you've played the first 2.
@JamboHyland95 Well .hack is basically 3 games (4 if the new 4th episode has a similar length but idk) so that would give you a lot of content, and once that's finished the Ys VIII patch shouldn't be too far away anymore
Someone is fan translating the very weird japanese Wii game Captain Rainbow
