The Disaster that is the Battlefront 2 Launch

@ZyloWolfBane I like your point about being at a random spot for a hero token, but before the unlock cut, 40 hours to unlock the ability to play as Luke OR Vader? Not both? It's still going to take time for casual players to get one, much less both, so those willing to throw down the cash and those who can/want to spend all of their waking time grinding are going to have the advantage. I mean, thanks to EA Access, this is happening as we speak!

Since it clicked for you, that's cool! I really wished I had the same experience. The special characters playing differently from one another is kind of the point, but I have a simple system: Basic blaster rifle, jetpack, bacta bomb, and scan pulse. Easy to get around, to heal, and occasionally scout. Mixing and matching different abilities, having characters be slower than others, less armor than others.... Again, it's kind of the point of class gameplay, and I guess class based shooters just are not for me. Also, the one flying match I had was so confusing. I couldn't understand what was going on and controls were atrocious for me.

I hear ya on wanting to play and not wanting to be a part of the problem. But, speaking only for myself, I have become so sick and tired of this happening and the common denominator is EA. If it was EA or the developer who implemented these various policies, EA is the one constant. So I won't buy it. Not this week, month, or the rest of 2017. 2018? In the bargin bin? Again only for the campaign? I might change my mind. But for the foreseeable future, EA is not getting my money. Full stop.

Yeah the space combat stuff was a bit of a mess for me in the original BF, and wasn't very fun. Admittedly that was the one thing I didn't check out in the beta, I was having so much fun with the huge objective based mode, each class felt like it added something in it's own way.

I racked up SO many kills being a sniper droid on one of my last runs through the beta that I was able to summon heroes with very little downtime, which made it very entertaining, running through with Darth Maul or Boba Fett or even Chewbaca all felt really powerful.

Though I will point out in case you've missed it that the grind to unlock Vader/Luke is no longer a thing, people had him unlocked on the first night from what people have been telling me, without spending a dime.

Now...I can't say whether this is true or not, the currency seems to drip out very slowly. But I'm sure it's not going to be enough to convince most people either way.

  • @ZyloWolfBane Agreed, since it has now been announced that there's going to be an AMA on Reddit with three of the developers. That's not going to go well.

Now they're no longer giving refunds for the game on Origin and it takes an hour or more to just get the refund.

    What?

And no, you (the general 'you') don't get to threaten developers just because you have to play Darth Vader in the new game. That's a very irresponsible tweet you've linked (the specific 'you').

  • and i said threatening them is stupid. But it doesn't distract from the point that the game is really bad. They removed the refund button on Origin and hope that people won't bother waiting for hours to get a refund

  • @The_Andredal They didn't remove the refund button...

You've never been able to refund games after the pre-order has been confirmed but before release date.

Seriously, the number of people willing to give in to confirmation bias and make stuff up just because it fits their narrative is flipping scary.

Yeah quick research will show that the refund button didn't ever exist on pre-orders. They still got chewed out for it, but of all the shady things EA did here, this isn't something new.

  • This post is deleted!

  • @Hazz3r @DIPSET so why did other people get to refund that game and this is after the game is out. This isn't making things up... The game is out and you can't get a refund according to the subreddit itself

  • @The_Andredal No. The game is out on Friday.

You can cancel a preorder. You can refund a game. You cannot cancel a preorder after the payment has processed without contactics support. Origin has always worked this way.

  • @Hazz3r Not for those in early access, they already have the game... Jeez dude... This video also backs my claim up
    Youtube Video

  • Apparently the guy claiming he had death threats is a fake and doesn't work for EA.

  • @The_Andredal And if you follow that Rabbit Hole that you just linked, you'll find the following response, which I've said in this thread twice now .https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsBattlefront/comments/7ctj17/ea_has_removed_the_refund_button_from_their/dpt5880/

"For clarity... the self-service refund option is only available if you have not been charged for the product yet. After that point, you can call EA Help to get a refund.
Currently, you will be billed if you have pre-ordered the standard edition, and therefore would need to call EA Help to get a refund.
You can read the Refund Policy and request a refund here: https://help.ea.com/en/help/account/returns-and-cancellations/
Update: We realize that this system isn’t as clear as we’d hoped, so we’re working to roll out an update in the near future that will improve it."

  • @Hazz3r and that's what i said... You need to contact the the costumer service... Which is bs

  • @The_Andredal said in The Disaster that is the Battlefront 2 Launch:

That's standard procedure for any vendor that handles online video game presales. Now brick and mortar stores you can just walk in and cancel an order, but most other places that take online orders like Amazon for example once the money has been taken for an order you can't cancel it, you have to wait till it's delivered and then send it back for a refund.

Same goes for XBL and PSN, once the game is ordered it's a right pain trying to get it refunded, and it requires calling customer service.

This is also true of online orders directly from the company publishing the game. They all make it a frustrating process to do returns/refunds.

Point is...this isn't a new thing, and it's not unique to EA.

  • @ZyloWolfBane Just because someone else does it worse does not make a good argument. Steam does this pretty well after all the backlash. That's the only good example i can think of in the gaming industry outside of physical copies

I'm not making an argument, I'm stating facts. You're trying to making it sound like a unique problem that only EA is doing, which is false.

And steam has it's own limitations concerning returns. They don't always give you one.

  • How's the microtransactions in Battlefield.

  • Banned

@Lotias said in The Disaster that is the Battlefront 2 Launch:

I will never ever ever ever understand the people that death threatens other human being for video games.

Because it's that easy, it takes literally no effort to threaten someone over the internet. If people actually followed up their threats then we would've had a 15 year old on-going massacre right now.

  • @ib0show non existant compared to BF2, it's only cosmetic

  • @ZyloWolfBane they still have a better option than Origin atm
