Switch screen scratching
-
Get the kid something he won't break in 5 minutes instead.
-
There are a few dock hacks you can do to reduce scratching as well. I've seen people putting strips of fabric along the edges to reduce wear and tear.
@Yoshi Why shouldn't he get a children's toy for his child?
-
@El-Shmiablo hey if you want to buy a little kid a $300 console/handheld that the kid will probably drop and smash then be my guest.
-
@Yoshi I expect the vast majority of the time he'll be playing with it docked. Shouldn't be an issue. I'm not letting him take it to preschool or something. #parenting

@DMCMaster Great recommendations! Thanks so much L&R

@TravelingSnowman Having a kid in March myself. We've decided no vidya until 5, and definitely not allowed to take anything out of the home.
You would be surprised how many parents don't give a shit though. I'm a preschool teacher and recently had to have a chat with a 4 1/2 year old about how Battlefield 1 is not appropriate to discuss in class, and that he probably shouldn't be playing those games in the first place.
-
@El-Shmiablo Wow, yea that's crazy. My son only plays at home, certainly not at school. So far we've stuck to Nintendo products (64, World, Brawl and Kart) and he's been pretty good about it.

Still remember not too long after GTA:SA came out, was killing time up in gamestop chatting with one of the clerks about something. About this time lady walks in with a kid about 5-6 years old maybe. Kid runs over to the wall grabs a copy of GTA lady is like "sure thing sweetie ", Me the clerks, and one other customer keep telling her it's not a game for kids, the other guy starts quoting lines directly from the game. She throws a fit says something about complaining to corporate, said the clerks were lazy and just didn't want to work and a few other things before they just gave up and sold her the game. Fast forward to the next day, picking up something, when the lady comes back, throwing a fit to the manager "how dare you sell this to kids, how dare you" ect, ect. ( finish later)

@DMCMaster the customer is always right, even when they're not

Around launch I got the glass screen protector that @DMCMaster mentioned he purchased. It’s a 2-pack, and currently $8 on U.S. Amazon. Since March, it’s worked perfectly. Touch screen is unaffected, very clear and cleanable. Granted, I’m very careful with my electronics, but I’m very happy with it.

@TravelingSnowman nah man, kids play portable more. I know a 5 year old

@Bigdude1 Fair enough that they like to, but for many reasons including my wallet, he won't be.
