Nah, it does. Max Payne actually took second place in regards to the slow down mechanic once Vanquish came out. The game has superb design and I feel safe saying that it's shooting mechanic has actually never been bettered. Its story? yeah, it's poor, but who cares here.

my friend, only FEAR did slow mo right after max payne.
vanquish biggest problem is same as gears of war. its just faster with sliding mechanics. its shooting suck, AI suck, movement is clunky, too repetetive and
You arere frequently forced to run slowly or wait behind cover until the loud, annoying beeping stops.

if its not cover shooter why force you into wall cover? max payne 3 did best that it has cover but it never force you.

yes story did matter. third person shooters give excellent story like Mafia 1 and Max payne 1.

Vanquish is fast gears of war.

Vanquish has stellar design. and it's moulded so well into its levels. It's shooting wouldn't work if it sucked.

Ai is great in context and If you're hearing beeping it's telling you to play smarter.

Vanquish never forces you into cover, you'd know that if you had played it.

  • @lotias Thanks.

@El-Shmiablo It sure is. I gotta go back and play it sometime.

@bam541 You know it. For me, it is the best Metal Gear game ever made.

It force me into cover because my health regenerate. the level design is terrible because it has vast space for just sliding. one of the most repetitive game i have played. i quit it in mid.

compare its shooting mechanics to max payne when it comes to TPS. it just suck. shooting bulletspong robots are not fun in any way or form.

i give it credit that its best shinji mikami game. its better than resident evil 4 atleast.

  • @sheria Thank you for defending Vanquish. As far as slo-mo/bullet time shooters goes; the bests ones are Vanquish, Max Payne 2, Stranglehold, and FEAR.

@cocage Half-Life mod The Specialists > Literally all of those.

  • @el-shmiablo
A Bayonetta 1/Vanquish dual pack showed up on a few UK retailers sites with a Winter 2017 release date listed...as You can see it's not out yet.

  • I cannot comprehend some of the criticisms one specific user displays. It is so surface level it is painful.

@dipset Listen. We don't need to dance around it. Just say my name.
    ;)

  • @el-shmiablo

I'm not dancing around it, I'm sliding around it in a bland open room. Not very good. I've become too soft shelled. I'll make sure to chastise you by name next time.

  • @el-shmiablo
    Seems appropriate for this

  • @el-shmiablo While it does look fun, I wouldn't consider it better than the list I had. It does look more fun than Quantum Break, FEAR 3, and Dead to Rights (original & reboot). So I will give it that.

@cocage lol I was just yanking your chain. I do legitimately believe that TS is the best utilization of slowmo in a multiplayer environment (FEAR worked, but was kinda janky in execution in multiplayer. TS is near Quake levels of movement/environment manipulation while also having buttery smooth slow motion gameplay) but I also have an insane amount of nostalgia for the mod and it's community, as it was my first ever serious game forum experience.
One of my favorite gaming moments ever happened in TS, involving the games proper object physics, which I think very, very few GoldSRC games even had.

@DMCMaster Kung Pow is sooo good. One of my favourite movies for sure.
    THATS A LOT OF NUTS!

  • Mass Effect 2
    Assassins Creed II
    Dragon Age: Origins
    Call of Duty Black Ops
    Grand Theft Auto V

    That is it so far.
