TV - What Are You Watching

I just picked up Vikings again. This series really improves after you get over the initial slow start. Only in early season 2 so far, but I am now hooked.

  • i finished season 1 of Shooter on Netflix, that's a really good show

  • After I stopped watching 3 superhero TV shows at around the first 2/3 of the latest seasons, I caught up on Agents of Shield, Supergirl and Arrow.
Agents of Shield: Again a fun time. The latest 3 seasons or so finished really strong with satisfying conclusion of the overall plot. Too bad I still don’t care about most of the characters.
Supergirl: What a piece of shit that was. After one of the CW producers got metoo-ed, they lost all writers or at least a clear direction. So many terrible and stupid things. But if you can call it a positive, probably not having a script 2 hours before shooting starts can get you stories that are on the front of the current interests, like an episode about guns and gun laws that has a so stupid ending, that fails to even get one good or reasonable point across… .
Arrow: Slightly better but the season probably should have been 5 or so episodes less. Arrow recruits/expands his team and then they split for some made up reasons or no reason at all, hardy makes it possible to sympathise with the characters. Diggle never looked so helpless after picking a fight with Ollie. Anyway at least the ending was good.

  • Matt Groening's Disenchantment is now on Netflix with 10 episodes. Just checked out the first one, and I think it was quite nice and easy to follow. It kept me on a good mood, had some laughs here and there. The princess appears to be an easily likable main character, while with Elfo and the demon I'll need some more time. The era of kings and knights and all that seems to work pretty well as the setting, lots of jokes out of all that.

  • Watching all of Absolutely Fabulous again and progressively watching better call Saul season 4 as it comes out.

  • I watched the last few episodes of the first season of the new Ducktales series. It was great. Not completely just aimed at kids or at least not insultingly stupid like most new shows for children. Donald in the last episode was hilarious, got also slightly dark and emotional.

  • Kamen Rider Build had a great, if bittersweet, ending. Don't think I'd put it up on the pantheon with Blade or Kuuga but it's definitely just a step below at worst.

  • Currently I am watching Ozark season 2 and i just started my Hero Academia!

  • Just finished the first season (nine episodes) of The Dragon Prince, a new Netflix fantasy. If you liked and loved Avatar: The Last Airbender, then please, check this one out! There are some same people behind both shows and the same magic works in this one as well, I fell in love with the characters and the story elements really quickly. Rayla's accent makes me go <3<3<3

  • @sentinel-beach does the animation improve/do you get used to it fairly quickly? That's the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger.

  • @naltmank I agree that this was a somewhat weird style chosen for the series, it was a bit like poor fps in some scenes especially. It took an episode or two to adjust to (and still caught my eye every now and then later on), but I grew not to mind it too much. The story beats and the characters' relationships and dialogue were so captivating to me that they easily overshadowed that visual choise.

  • New season of Bojack Horseman is out... I'm ready to be hurt again.

  • Followed in @sentinel-beach's footsteps and watched The Dragon Prince. Lots of potential here, though I am a bit disappointed with the direction they started taking with the villain in the last couple of episodes. It's also frustrating to me that even a 24 minute episode/9 episode season can still suffer from Netflix bloat. This could've easily been trimmed down to a brisk and thrilling 2-2.5 hour movie, and that might've allowed for more budget to be allocated into the animation. Still really hopeful for where the series goes, since when it's good it's REALLY good. I'd give it a solid B+, and it has the potential to become an all-timer.

  • Caught up on The Good Place's first two seasons. New Season drops this week, I think.

  • I am watching series by Andy Yeatman lately. It all started when we were at my cousin’s place. She has been watching the show for a very long time and she even told me that he doesn’t work with Netflix anymore, which mean that his content will not be available in future.

  • I've watched 1 1/2 seasons of The Fall. I'm hooked.

  • been watching OJ Simpson vs The People. Really good show

  • Banned

Batman the Animated Series on Blu-ray, Samurai Jack on Blu-ray and Rick and Morty season 3 on Blu-ray. Waiting for FX's The Shield to arrive (on Blu-ray) before the end of the year. Never seen The Shield, but heard good things.

I haven't streamed for a long time. I don't like feeling like I have to watch enough episodes from Netflix's limited selection of shows in a month to make the subscription feel worth it. I want to be able to take my time.

  • Just watched the first episode of Tokusatsu Gagaga. It's a show about a toku geek trying to get through daily life without her co-workers finding out about her obsession. I don't know how many people here care about shows like Super Sentai or other tokusatsu series but if you're a fan of them you have to check it out.

  • Watching Thunderbolt Fantasy right now. I wouldn't be surprised if someone said the fact that it's puppetry is a turn-off but don't let it be, this show is intense. Also, it's written by Gen Urobuchi if that means anything to you.
