Ghost of Tsushima (PS4)

I know your language, your village.
@TokyoSlim This isn't a true story
-
@iboshow it's based on real events though.

@tokyoslim Based on doesn't mean everything has to be the same
-
@iboshow I think you're confused about something? Your comment doesn't make any sense to me in context.
I replied to the assertion that the Mongols "got fucked up by storms before they ever made it to Japan". They in fact, did make it to Japan, and this game is about that. I never said anything about the game having to be historically accurate. But the game is literally about the thing that did in fact happen.
It would be a pretty bold move to make a game where in order to break from historical accuracy, your antagonist never shows up because he drowned before the game started. :p
-
@tokyoslim ??? The mongols won the battle of Tsushima the first time. I have no idea what we're talking about now.
-
@el-shmiablo said in Ghost of Tsushima:
"The year is 1274. Samurai warriors are the legendary defenders of Japan--until the fearsome Mongol Empire invades--err, I mean, gets totally fucked up by not one, but TWO storms before they even hit the shores."
Fixed that for ya.
@tokyoslim said in Ghost of Tsushima:
@el-shmiablo the storms were later. Tsushima was indeed invaded

You seem to be arguing/agreeing with the other poster that a game based on the Mongol invasion of Japan in 1274 doesn't have to be historically accurate, and that the Mongols could have been hit by the typhoon BEFORE they made it to Japan for some reason?
I am not sure why, since the game is clearly and specifically not about that. It would make for a real short game. :D
-
I'm more confused now
-
@iboshow Well, that makes two of us. I haven't understood what you've been trying to say for hours now! Lol
-
This looks really good. The environments and the graphics are really beautiful, and those kills. Those first five kills, and especially the first one. Yes! Just a move or a few. And the duel in the end, with all that red and orange from the leaves, sky and the fire. Wow.
-
I'm really glad its grounded.
-
I have massive hopes for Ghost of Tsushima. It's building up to be something epic, both in narrative and gameplay.
-
That boss battle, The Boss vibes.
-
Just some notes:
The actual first Mongol invasion in 1275 from landing on the beach at Tsushima, to them being defeated, took about 45 days. One can assume that's why it tells you "Day 9".
There was no such thing as a "ninja" in 1275. If you wanted to not be seen, you'd dress as a farmer or beggar. The swords might give him away though. That's not to say he won't have a black "stealth" suit of some kind, but it's not something you'd wear out during the day for any reason.
-
I also really enjoyed that during the trailer, the environmental clues really indicated to you the geography of the open world.
The red maple seen in the fight above is visible from a long distance away from high ground.. You also see villages and towns on fire in the distance, and five tiered pagoda in the distance.See that red tree? You can fight there!
-
This is also a side mission
-
The graphics shown are unbelievable. I mean this in a bad way. I'm going to need to see proof of this game running on a PS4 at that quality. The lighting/foliage shown is absolutely fucking ridiculous. Gives me some vibes of Watch Dogs E3 Downgrade, same with The Division E3 downgrade.
I would love to be wrong.

The option to play the whole game in Japanese has been confirmed.

I think this may be my game of the show. Sucker Punch are playing to the strengths of samurai & ninja stories and in particular Japanese cinema in their visual approach.
-
@sentinel-beach This is what I needed!

@sentinel-beach This game just keeps getting better.
