Is Doom the only gaming franchise where each and every game is Masterpiece?
-
Yeah
NahDoom 3 was shit. Played it last year and it does NOT age well. Nothing but small corridors and monster closets.
It was a technological achievement for it's time, but not much else.
-
Doom 3 and the Doom RPG were pure garbage.
At least the Doom RPG added a fun connection between Doom and Wolfenstein
-
Im talking about 4 main games. discounting spinoff like Doom RPG for mobile or whatever it is.
-
@b-cell
Doom RPG is a main game, and its 6 games, theres two RPGs
-
This is your strangest thread yet.
-
Discounting all the spin-offs and unofficial sequels, which are defined as ”games I don't like as much", Katamari Damacy is a gaming franchise, and it's only actual game is perfect.
-
Doom 64 is also considered a main game, and Doom 2016 is a direct continuation of it.

Doom 2016 is reboot. Doom slayer is different protagonist than Doomguy. Doom 64 was not even made by id software.
Doom 3 also has different marine.
-
@b-cell The events of Doom 64 are directly referenced in Doom 2016.
-
@el-shmiablo
It was also made with ID's blessing
-
@dmcmaster I sometimes wonder if he is trolling or really this dense.
-
I think the LEGO games franchise qualifies for sure.
-
@sentinel-beach
Ah yes how can we forget 2020's Lego Doom
-
I think Half life is a strong series along with it's Portal Counterpart. I want to include Metroid and Zelda, however, they've had a few questionable titles released in the past. I'm not on about that atrocious CD-I Legend Of Zelda either.
-
I honestly don’t think Half Life has any duds. I played Half Life Source in 2012 and was blown away by it. I might like it more than HL2.
Went through the whole series, expansions like Blue Shift. Loved them all.
-
Just dropping in to say I love the Doom movie. Bye!
-
They made four mainline Advance Wars games without faltering in quality. If we're placing a premium on "each game is close to equal", I can't think of a longer series.
I think the 3D Zelda series is consistently amazing. Everyone's got a different take though, of course.
-
@chocobop if you wanna get technical the Advance Wars games are just a localized name for a series that had been going on since the Famicom. Can't speak to their quality since I've never played any besides the first GBA one though.

Half life: Decay! First true FPS co-op experience I ever had on the ps2 and one of my fav games. The game is out there for PC to install to this date.

@orthrus The combination of "Half-Life" and "co-op" has me jonesing for the good ol' Sven Coop days.
