Pokemon Sword/Shield (Switch)
Gigantamaxing was yet another part of the mega dyna z-confirmed rumor at this point, so I can't wait to see some of the other stuff mentioned in that leak.
Boy is this lore weird.
Additional Version Exclusive differences here, including a choice between Gym Leaders.
Only certain species of Pokémon can Gigantamax—and even among such species, only rare specimens will be able to Gigantamax. The majority will keep their usual appearance when they Dynamax.
Sounds like distro event exclusive stuff... (at least for some of the rumored ones) ...but also:
You can catch Gigantamax Pokémon for your team by participating in Max Raid Battles, but it seems they’re very rare—finding one won’t be easy!
It (Gigantamaxing) also allows each Gigantamax Pokémon to use a unique move known as a G-Max Move! Each G-Max Move is particular to a specific species of Gigantamax Pokémon, and regular Dynamax Pokémon can’t use G-Max Moves at all!
So straight up Z-Moves again. So far the 3 G-Max Moves we know sound super broken:
Fairy-type moves used by Gigantamax Alcremie will change to G-Max Finale. G-Max Finale will heal all Pokémon on Alcremie’s side while dealing damage to an opponent!
Water-type moves used by Gigantamax Drednaw will change to G-Max Stonesurge. G-Max Stonesurge doesn’t just deal damage to an opponent—it will scatter sharp rocks around the opponent and cause Pokémon entering the battlefield to take damage!
Flying-type moves used by Gigantamax Corviknight will change to G-Max Wind Rage. G-Max Wind Rage deals damage to an opponent, but that’s not all—it will also remove any effects of moves like Reflect, Light Screen, Spikes, and Electric Terrain that the opponents may have!
We get to pick our own numbers:
During the Gym Challenge, each challenger wears a special uniform for the occasion. You can choose the combination of three numbers on your own uniform!
You have to be sponsored to participate in the League this time:
The Gym Challenge is a true celebration of Pokémon battling! Participating Trainers strive to collect all eight Gym Badges, and only Pokémon Trainers who have been endorsed by specific people, such as Gym Leaders, can join in. You and your rival Hop will receive your letters of endorsement from Champion Leon himself, kicking off your journey to challenge the Gyms of the region!
Elite Four might be more of a tourney this time:
Once a year in the Galar region, a series of Pokémon battles are held with the League Championship on the line. This is the Champion Cup! The Champion Cup is the tournament to decide who will be able to challenge the reigning Champion for their seat. Exemplary Trainers throughout the region, such as those who successfully complete the Gym Challenge, are allowed to participate in the Champion Cup tournament.
Youtubers have realized now that they can milk fake outrage videos for more views and channel attention than covering Pokemon news or any critical look at the games or discussion around them, even more than reactions. If you look at these Youtubers' channels you'll see that all their videos previous to this have much lower view counts while the really easy to make outrage videos get over a hundred thousand views typically. Outrage videos are the new reaction videos. There's things people are upset about Sword and Shield, but people are bandwagoning and exaggerating outrage now for monetary gain. Be very wary of the opinions you expose yourself to out there, and as always try to view the content in question as a whole and think critically for yourself rather than just believing the mass public opinion or even worse cherry picked slander pieces out there.

@dmcmaster I don't want to blast individuals' Youtube Channels, but there's many of them doing this. If you're the type inclined to watch outrage videos that come up in random suggested Youtube recommendations, open up their Channel page yourself and get a good look at the views for the outrage videos compared to the views for previous stuff of theirs yourself.
Some professional opinions about the Pokédex cuts, hopefully people start realizing that it's been a long time coming and it's not as easy as they think.

@axel I honestly never cared about transferring pokemon between games, every game is 100 percent stand alone fresh. i do think its odd though that people are paying for pokemon bank and so many of your pokemon are just gonna sit there
@bigdude1 They changing Bank to Home soon, and Home is going to have more features to interact with your Pokemon while they're being held in that service. Just waiting for them to announce it all.

New news out of
nowherePokemon Worlds. No new Pokemon, but some new abilities and hold items that are pretty interesting as well as clarification on some secondary effects of Dynamax Moves.
In Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, you can connect to the internet and battle against Trainers from all over the world in the Battle Stadium. Features like Rental Teams and Online Competitions also allow for different ways to connect to other Pokémon Trainers.
In Ranked Battles, you can take on Pokémon Trainers from across the globe with a Battle Team you trained up, in an attempt to become the most powerful Trainer in the world! As the name implies, you will have a rank in Ranked Battles that indicates how strong you are as a Trainer. Your rank will change depending on the results of your battles! You’ll face Trainers of a similar rank, so your battles are sure to be challenging!
You can receive items by meeting certain criteria, such as battling multiple times in a row.
Rental Teams let you borrow Battle Teams easily by inputting IDs available online. You can use these rented Battle Teams in various different battles. You’ll also be able to make your own Battle Teams public to Pokémon Trainers all over the world!
You can use Rental Teams in Ranked Battles, too.

I like that Pokemon has a rent-a-goalie feature.
Sitting on benches was a feature first appearing in Gen 6, XY, but it was missing from the Gen 7, Sun and Moon games. It is a small touch yes, but it is good to see it return. That's obviously a very early game town we've seen parts of before, but I think it is looking pretty good, and I was digging the new music.
Will edit this later with more from the website and elsewhere. For now enjoy this madness made manifest:
Before I post website excerpts, enjoy more detailed trailer analysis than I could've covered:
Now for the extra website bits:
Surprise Trades can be carried out with players from around the world if you’re using the internet. But with local communication, you can even get a trade from someone around you before you know what’s happening! Head out to lots of different places, and see if you can get a Surprise Trade!
So this is interesting, because previously Wonder Trades were only available through online, but this means you can 3DS Streetpass style locally activate the rebranded Wonder Trades.
I just really like this official art from the website.
Alcremie is known to be able to create whipped cream from its hands. Apparently, there are several variations of color and flavor for this whipped cream, as well as the decorations on Alcremie’s body.
Went into this with the chart above, but even more than that have been discovered since, and Serebii claims:
They are called flavours with only two names known: Vanilla Flavor and Matcha Flavor
Back to the official site, some Polteageist lore:
Polteageist’s body is made from black tea and is said to have a very distinct aroma and flavor. It will only allow a Trainer it trusts to sample its tea. However, drinking too much can lead to indigestion or an upset stomach, so be careful!
Many Polteageist make their homes inside hotels and restaurants, disguising themselves and hiding among the tableware. They can pour their power into leftover tea and create even more of their kind, so they’re often treated as pests.
Tried not to repeat too much from the GameXplain analysis, but worth reiterating that the dart fish with the mustache the new bird Pokemon shoots out is most definitely also a new Pokemon in itself, which I find it funny they didn't bother to even talk about, giving an entirely new meaning to "throw away" regional fish Pokemon. Also, a relevant spoiler from the previously many times over confirmed leak below:
Surprised the Direct didn't mention this, but the new bird Pokemon can also sometimes instead catch a Pikachu in its mouth when using Surf or Dive, probably as a reference to Surfing Pikachu. I do wonder if this will change the damage of the Pokemon's ability when it triggers, possibly even add a Paralysis chance to the bonus hit, or maybe even cause the ability to backfire and damage the bird Pokemon instead. The leak was unclear, but the leaker clearly mentioned this Pokemon along with this bonus information that hasn't been revealed yet. This was also stated to be the leaker's favorite among the new Pokemon.
Only Farfetch'd that have survived many battles can attain this evolution. When this Pokémon's leek withers, it will retire from combat.
The Farfetch’d of the Galar region can evolve into Sirfetch'd after experiencing many battles. They are calm and collected, and they make a point of always battling fairly. They are so noble in battle that they are often chosen as a motif for paintings. Of particular note is a painting—famous in the Galar region—that depicts a duel between a Sirfetch'd and an Escavalier.
In battle, Sirfetch'd uses the sharp stalk of its leek as a lance and the thick leaves as a shield. It maintains this leek over the span of many years and treasures it more than anything. When its leek finally withers, Sirfetch'd will leave the battlefield and retire from battling entirely.
Meteor Assault is a new move introduced in these games that only Sirfetch'd can learn! Sirfetch'd points its leek at the opponent and charges toward them at great speed. This move is devastatingly powerful! However, it appears that the move also puts great strain on Sirfetch'd. It will be unable to take action immediately after using this move.
Kyle is going to love this. But Sword exclusive, wasn't he gonna get Shield? The dilemma of a lifetime.
