The PS5 News and Info Thread

  • @yoshi Looks like it’s only Twitter still for now. Not sure if they’ll ever bring Facebook back or add Instagram.

then that feature is useless AF.

  • @yoshi

You can go directly to YouTube which is a pretty big deal. I wouldn't ever spam my FB with screenshots anyways.

Per the PS Store features being stripped, since when could you even do wishlists in the first place? I would've liked that feature to track sales. I had absolutely no clue that even existed on PS4 so I guess its no big deal that they've gotten rid of it, but like... why?

  • @dipset I think it was only a feature on the web version of the store. Pretty sure it was never added to the consoles for the PS3/4/Vita or PSP.

On the web store you can login and click a little heart next to a game's icon. You can only view it on the web, and it doesn't sync, which has always sucked.

  • @dmcmaster Yeah, what I mean is, you would need to use another device anyways to purchase PSP games.

Although If I remember correctly you can still access your download list/game library on a PSP

Yup, no need to transfer stuff.

  • Need EZA to do that news flash for the U. I video

  • @dipset i sometimes like to share screenshots of both my Switch and PS4 gameplay with my Facebook like when Spyro got added to CTR nitro fueled.

i don't use twitter. twitter can F*** off

  • @iboshow For what purpose? Most of the "exciting" features of it either won't be supported by pretty much every developer that isn't first party or has potential to accidentally spoil things constantly. Legitimately would've preferred they just show off the actual menus and settings options instead of focusing on gimmicks nobody asked for.

  • I'm probably alone on this, but the "press the PS button" screen music reminds me so much of Resident Evil for some reason. It's nothing worth thinking too much about, but I can't really shake this feeling.

    Youtube Video – [05:02..]

  • Love the Menu Options that let you get right into what you want. Just having an option that takes me straight into the Zombies menu for Black Ops Cold War would be great.

Also really like the hint system. It's exactly as they say. It's nice to be able to get hints without having to go searching for it online and risk getting spoiled, etc.

Instead you're at risk of being spoiled constantly by the line of things coming up on your resume game menu.

  • @mbun Having to click on a suggested hint for a trophy seems a lot less spoilers than looking up a review for a game and the first video being SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE IN THE LAST OF US 2 - 4K

  • @el-shmiablo
Or looking up how to fix a central air AC unit and it just being spliced right into the damn thing.

  • Resisting the urge to use or abuse the in-game tips will be difficult because as time goes on, I'm less inclined to waste time on obtuse things, but it would be nice for newcomers to play, say, Resident Evil Remake, and not feel lost in the wilderness.

  • @mbun As they said in the video, devs have full control of marking activities as containing spoilers.

  • @el-shmiablo You're talking about the clicking into the hints to bring up the video walkthrough of how to get to a thing. I'm talking about your resume game menu being lined with a string of upcoming interest points. I don't want to know the Awesome Sword of Elf Slaying is right ahead of where I am in the game when I accidentally glance to the right, that or any other person or object of interest! Those things should be buried in menus!!!

@Hazz3r That's only for when people post screenshots and such into a Party, and I don't see the majority of devs taking the development time to mark stuff as spoilers. It doesn't help at all with what I'm talking about. Who's going to keep using Parties anyways, now that Sony is recording them constantly. Quite the invasion of privacy.

I could be wrong but I think he said that he already went through those parts.

I think you're not reading between the lines. That functionality is powered by the Devs tagging an Activity as containing Spoilers, so that functionality naturally extends to not showing you cards for content you haven't seen yet.

Sony isn't recording voice chats. Other Users can record voice chats that you're having with them.

Which devs won't do, and for that to function they'd need to tag their entire game as Spoilers, section by section.

Pretty sure that's outright misinformation. They're recording your Party chats in case a Moderation issue arises, but that also means they always have Audio Logs of all your Party chats.

  • @mbun https://blog.playstation.com/2020/10/16/details-on-new-voice-chat-functionality-coming-to-ps5/

Please note that this feature will not actively monitor or listen in on your conversations – ever – and it’s strictly reserved for reporting online abuse or harassment.

Once the PS5 console launches, if a PS5 player needs to file a harassment report, they will be able to include up to a 40 second-long Voice Chat clip in their report — 20 seconds of the main conversation with the other player, plus an additional 10 seconds before and after the conversation selection. Only the most recent five minutes of a Voice Chat will be available for a player to use for this reporting function.

It's up to players to send the clip of their choice as part of their report, Sony won't have access to the entirety of all your voice chats ever.
