Also, heard some good things about the Apocalypse Now "final cut" that's coming out. Here's the trailer:
Youtube VideoI'm just waiting to place my pre-order. I love what they do with these old movies with HDR, 4K and Atmos/DTS:X. Highly recommend The Bridge on the River Kwai in UHD for old war movies.
-
@ezekiel Bridge David Lean was an amazing director. Bridge on the River Kwai, Lawrence of Arabia, and Doctor Zhivago is probably the greatest three film directorial sequence in the history of modern cinema.
-
@tokyoslim I disagree so mega hardcore, dude. Those are all my prime examples of prestige movie bloat (though Bridge to a lesser extent). Obviously all technical masterpieces, but huge examples of the self-important lack of editing that I think is the downfall of most movies of that caliber. Even Return of the King (which I freaking love) falls victim to this shit. You see it in all forms of media now (especially books and TV), and I largely trace it back to these kinds of movies. Plus Gone With the Wind. Way too long.
That said, hyped as tits for Apocalypse Now Final Cut. Gonna watch it at my boy's house.
-
@naltmank There isn't anything I would edit in The Bridge on the River Kwai. I find it thoroughly entertaining. Lawrence of Arabia was better on my second viewing, but I wouldn't rank it among the very best.

Thats a nice big sip of bad opinion juice

@ezekiel yeah Bridge on the River Kwai is really good, I just wanted to lump the three of them together because they were listed together. Again, all three are considered masterpieces for a reason, but I think Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago especially are pretty bloated.

Be extra careful if you haven't seen Endgame yet! No spoiler talk either, please.
SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME - Official Trailer
Youtube Video
-
@sentinel-beach to be honest, I'd steer clear of the trailer even of you have seen Endgame. Way too much revealed in the trailer that will likely have implications outside of just Spider-Man.
-
Seeing a trailer for Spider-man Far from Home in the previews of Endgame was a bit of a spoiler. But this trailer holds some serious MCU spoilers.
-
Was already in. Really hyped for the movie. Also agree people should avoid it even if they have seen Endgame. Just watch the movie when it comes out.
-
Going media blackout after that trailer, I'm already sold.
-
I won't watch the trailer but I'm excited that you guys are excited.
-
I've seen so many comments online saying, "Why did they make Mysterio a good guy?! That's dumb!" and I can't stop shaking my head over it.
Looks great though.

IT Chapter 2

Goddamn that scene was creepy as hell, but great!
-
I'm not sure why, but I feel like focusing so heavily on one character in the trailer doesn't really do it for me.

This can go sneakily here.

Terminator: Dark Fate - Official Teaser Trailer (2019) - Paramount Pictures
Youtube VideoI think there's potential in Gabriel Luna's baddie Terminator.
-
It amazes me how much people still want to see an old man play a terminator. I found the idea completely ridiculous when Genysis was coming out, so I didn't watch that movie. Will skip this too. Seeing Schwartzenegger's enfeebled fighting in YouTube clips didn't help either.
I keep thinking of Peter Griffon's rant prior to Salvation's release: "Do we really need another Terminator?" So true.
