I've never been disappointed by a Denis Vinneneuve movie, and he's quickly become one of my favorite directors! I haven't seen the original Dune or read the book yet, but I'm down with seeing whatever his vision of this story will be, as I've heard some people say it's impossible to adapt to the screen.
-
It looks more action oriented than other movies of the director which is nice for me.
-
@scotty I wouldn't go in expecting that. Dune isn't exactly an action movie.

Godzilla is the only true saviour!

@sentinel-beach I'm on team two awesome titans beating the shit out each other and wrecking things.

@bam541 What!! Can't believe I haven't heard of this. Hosoda is easily one of my favorite directors.
-
@demonpirate I haven't watched any of his stuff yet (been wanting to watch Mirai but I still have no easy access to it), but this just looks so beautiful and unique. I'm really excited to see this.
-
@bam541 I'd recommend Wolf Children and Summer Wars. He also made an amazing One Piece movie which is usually considered a fan favorite among the series' films. You can't really go wrong though, all his stuff is great.

Don't watch it, they spoiled it too much:
Basically Johanna Wick in Continental for Women with a great cast and nice action.

Pretty cool trailer for a new Netflix "anime" based on a Filipino comic. Animation looks pretty good for TV. I like the folk horror backstory. My partner says these types of superstitions and folk tales are really big back home. The English dub has surprisingly accurate sounding accents. Not sure where it's animated though. Philippines is normally used as for-hire / outsourced animation but I like to imagine this is a home grown show.

BULLET TRAIN - Official Trailer (HD)
Youtube VideoThis looks fun! Train is my favourite milieu in movies. And Pitt seems to chill through all that in a very cool fashion. :] Also some Smokin' Aces vibes with all the different assassins? That's a film I enjoy a lot.

I'll take this opportunity to recommend The Bullet Train (1975, Japan), which is much, MUCH less over-the-top. The acting isn't great, and the ending falls a bit flat, but the drama in and around the train is solid. It was an inspiration for Speed (1994) - a bullet train is taken hostage via a bomb that will go off if it slows down.
