State of Play

  • @oscillator I always thought a TV series with each season covering a single book would be best.

  • I'm on the same boat as Tokyo. I think it looks really good, the game basically had me at the broomstick gameplay, and I really like how stylish the animations in wand combat are. I'll probably get an used copy, I still can't buy it in good faith considering the controversies with JK R and such.

  • @oscillator

Yeah like, even the first 3 films get pretty close to that, but I wasn't expecting the game to be this vibrant. It really don't strike me as a world full of great evils and deadly secrets.

  • @bam541
I said this in a discord chat but no one knows publicly if J.K is actually getting anything from this, or Fantastic Beast 3. Although I assume she probably gets some sort of royalties based on her "involvement " but involvement could range from characters/places/terms she created. Which might be true as my movie industry friend says WB is working on two original "Wizarding World" movies without her involvement (allegedly a 1950's wizard/human crime noir, and a "Remember the Titans" type movie)

Granted WB could always buy the IP, yeah J.K would get some sort of payday from that but it could be used to cut her completely from all future "Wizarding World" projects.

  • @dmcmaster The FAQ page of the game's website have a couple of questions about this but nothing is stated explicitly.

  • Neither Rowling's nor Harry Potter's names were mentioned once yesterday during that whole presentation. Not even when the devs talked about it afterwards in their own video. Just something I noticed during the showing.

  • I think you're kidding yourself to even imply they're not getting paid from this. The only way to stop that is to burn it all down. Don't support it. Stop caring about it. Let it die like WoW has been, so all the wonderful fantasy properties that got pushed into the mud by it all these years can finally pop out and shine instead of all the focus going to this one overrated one with a problematic creator.

"we’ll have some great updates from our amazing Japanese partners, along with a few other surprises from developers all around the world.

Expect about ~20 minutes of reveals, new updates and fresh gameplay footage for 10 games coming to PS5, PS4, and PS VR2."

  • This State of Play is probably the best one yet imo. Really enjoyed everything being shown, and also glad to see SIE making great gets with Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin. I'm extremely hyped for Ronin, definitely my personal game of the show even though that GoWR trailer is definitely the best trailer. Also like that Sony's keeping with the anime crowd with that Bamco game, lol. Solid A or 9/10 for me, can't ask much more from a 20 mins showcase.

  • can someone provide a rundown of what was in it? i heard about another Tekken and not much else?

  • Rise of the Ronin looks really promising, that's my top pick. GoW, it was the first time I've seen it, looks more familiar than what I was wishing but at the same time it looks like it's going to be an incredible journey.

  • Like a Dragon: Ishin! was a really cool surprise, I didn't even know about it and the West is getting it in February. I'm in, haven't played an RGG game since Lost Judgment. Rise of the Ronin looked really sweet as well, I think I liked the cities the most, it reminded me of Assassin's Creed and Ghost of Tsushima together etc.

  • I only ended up halfwatching this while playing Fall Guys, but it seemed like it had some cool stuff. I'd rewatch it, but I know we'll likely see a bunch of it many more times before release, so I'm not going to bother.

  • @sentinel-beach
Ishin is a awesome game, and had some truly awesome and brutal heat moves.

Do find it a bit funny that the game that served as a test for the style switching in Yakuza 0/Kiwami 1 is now being remade to serve as a test for getting RGG Studios used to Unreal Engine 4.
