The EZA Community Top 25 Best of 2012!

  • @shoulderguy

I didn't play the game but I'm sure a sequel will come eventually. Probably in the next gen.

  • Dragon's Dogma would have been my #1 had it been the Dark Arisen version. As much as I love B'z "The Wind is Pushing Me~Dangan", Dark Arisen had more vocations that some skill carried over to others and thus made the game even better and Bitterblack Isle alone is SSS class. Ending was really great.
Enemies were so amazing. Dragons, mages that cast dual maelstorm that bounced me up like 20 times and made me spent all my heal because I just ran into them for not expecting them running into a room, Death that wiped all my party with one swipe because it took their souls, cockatrice that petrified me along my trusty companion who got tossed over the cliff few times by cyclops...and me (heh).
It takes a while to get the engines started but man once it gets warm it stays heated. I hope DD2 is made with a joint with MHW team with hopefully a talented writing team if they could. Of course while retaining that Capcom vibe.

  • Now that Dragon's Dogma is here, where's the Hashtagonist? X-D

Joking aside, this is one of those games I hear about almost like clockwork and it feels like it gets brought up a LOT. Of all this chatter, it gets described as the upper echelon of third person fantasy action RPGs alongside games like Dark Souls and Dragon Age. A personal pass, but at least we're now getting into a stretch of games I'm aware of.

  • I played DD: Dark Arisen for a good while, like over 20 hrs at least, but then I eventually just kinda dropped it. I remember the game feeling way too aimless for me. Too vague or undefined also. The climbing on giant trolls and lion-beasts etc. was really cool, I think some of the enemies even flew, and the whole pawn system was interesting. So I guess this was a mixed bag in my eyes. A sequel could be really neat.

  • This game has a great atmosphere. Unfortunately I haven't played it as much as I would like, but the little bit I've played has left me anxious for more. There are too many games!

  • Diablo III is one of those games that I SHOULD be into, but I tried just a little bit of it a long time ago on a friend's system and it just didn't click for me.

However, from what I remember about the original game, there was all kinds of problems with logging in at launch and is this the game that had the auction house issues? It certainly got much, MUCH better with Reaper of Souls and credit to Blizzard to getting a very beloved PC staple on consoles.

With this entry reminding me it came in 2012, it does lead me to wonder if the rumored Diablo IV is going to get announced at Blizzcon (also with the debacle of last year in mind).

  • I loved playing this in beta, in early release, in the weird state of almost not working on release (I didn't experience many issues) and all the way through the 1k+ hours I've put into it over the last 7 years on PC and 2 consoles.

I think it just hits the right points of nostalgia and newness for me, having grown up playing the original on PC and PS1, as well as putting way too much time into Diablo 2. Super hype to see what they introduce in D4.

  • Error 37!

I really like this game. It’s very fun. I think the visuals are great and the cutscenes are godlike.

  • I was really into playing it. But I found it really disappointing by the end of it for various minor reasons that added up to be major problems for me

  • Didn't like it until they re-released it.

  • This is a rough one for me because while I enjoy it, it never comes close to reaching the heights of 2. It doesn't help that it was fundamentally broken at launch.

    GT Review

  • @axel I got the itch back recently so picked up Handsome Collection on PS4. Haven't started yet but I now feel I should have put this higher. As much as I could never get into Diablo 3, Borderlands 1 and 2 got me hooked BAD. I know the Allies hate the humour and the story is a video game story but I don't really remember either. I just remember farming legendaries and it was a blast.

  • Finally a game I voted for! I really liked Borderlands 2: it's funny, it never slows down, and it's simply fun to play. D&D DLC was especially great.

  • I enjoyed this game quite a bit when I played it the first time. I don't mind the loud humor as much as many others, and I really love finding weird ass guns from loots and trying them out. Nowadays my fondness for the game has reduced drastically, which made it miss out my vote.

  • I really like the Borderlands series but this is just another reminder of how my friends don't want to play them with me anymore. That may have influenced where it ended up on my list.

  • I loved Borderlands 2. I really enjoyed all the nods to other franchises, like Dark Souls, Minecraft and Batman. Also, the puzzles you find along the way. Great fun. Easily one of the best Shooters ever made. Should be higher on the list.

  • I think I played BL2 for a long time but didn't really like it. At some point I was like "why am I still playing this?" and quit.
I really did like Telltale Borderlands tho.

  • Wow, the second game I voted for has made an appearance. Not surprising I was the highest vote for the game because it can VERY hit or miss, dependent upon any given person's tastes.

For me, the reason why it ranks so high is four-fold:

1.) My friends tried to get me into Borderlands and when I finally did, they didn't stick with it almost instantly. But I made the investment so I played through them. The first is fine but this one is MUCH better and I JUST completed a YEARS long playthrough with my best friend (Base game and all DLC), so it's pretty fresh and I associate this game with friends.

2.) Weapon variety. I am NOT a loot grind person as I don't care for games like the Division or Destiny (especially when said games are better with friends, which I've just established, or not the most available or reliable people). But I've always gotten a kick out of getting a Blue, Purple or Orange weapon and it do some ridiculous stuff. I'm currently playing Borderlands 3 and this point is even further refined. I just got the ship and I'm SWIMMING in high rarity weapons.

3.) Story improvement. The first game didn't really have a story, but the sequel actually HAS an interesting throughline of a narrative, primarily made by Handsome Jack. Excellent villain to detest. Plus interacting with the previous game's protagonists as the main characters here was a nice touch.

4.) Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep. I LOVE this DLC and it goes back and forth in my mind as my favorite DLC EVER with another game which we should be seeing later (I'll talk about it then). But this DLC RULES. The concept of playing IN a D&D- oh, sorry, a "Bunkers & Badasses" game with Tina being the DM is hilarious. Also Flamerock Refuge, the town of the DLC is my single favorite area in the entire game. So cozy and jolly.

While I don't want play this again ANY time soon (again. That playthrough took YEARS), this is still solid. To conclude with my custom, shoutouts and high-fives to all those who like it enough to put it on their lists in some way! @E_Zed_Eh_Intern, @Hazz3r, @Sazime, @Hidz, @Exist-2-Inspire, @ffff0, and @Brandon_Reister!
