    Thread concept:

The basic idea is to list new games that you are interested in, as well as games you are potentially curious about or want to give wider attention to. You can briefly describe them or ask other people to help fill you in. The hope is that regular threads like these can act as a collective filter/discovery mechanism to help people decide what is worth checking out.

"New games" means any new title that is being released or ported this month in any capacity (not "backlogs/what you are playing this month"). The angle here is sharing your anticipation and promoting game discovery (as opposed to sharing comments about a first playthrough in progress - that belongs elsewhere).

    .

    • If you want a handy list that covers most of the major upcoming games of the month, here's a couple text lists of upcoming games:

Feel free to post other lists or list videos of upcoming releases that you find useful.

    • Final request: If you are the first person to mention a game please provide (at minimum) a short sentence description. (If it is a very big AAA release though, then don't worry about it.) This is a good convention that makes the thread more useful as a discovery mechanism, and especially helps out anyone who doesn't follow the news as closely as you.

  • Besides The Last of Us Part II there's also Ninjala and SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle For Bikini Bottom Rehydrated which are noteworthy.

  • Valorant is coming June 2. It's a free-to-play FPS game from Riot Games, and it's basically Counter Strike but with Overwatch-esque abilities and powers. I have been kinda bored with CS:GO for a while now, so I'm definitely looking forward to this.

Desperados III is coming in June 16. It's a isometric tactical action game set in the Wild West. The franchise has been around for a long time, and this is hopefully the big comeback for it.

The multiplayer beta for Disintegration de-hyped me, but the singleplayer stuff might still be cool. It's a shooter where you control a hovercraft of some sort, equipped with guns. There's also some real-time-strategy elements where you can order allies around to help you.

  • Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics - Nintendo Switch - June 5th.

Clubhouse Games on DS has to be one of my top 5 most played DS games. Oh yeah, and The Last of Us is this month too.

  • The latest Huber Syndrome covers most of them.

  • Global Moderator

The Last of Us II. That is all I need.

  • Spongebob looks incredible, so excited for that!

  • There is a little game called The Last of Us Part II. I think I will check out that one, could be nice.

    Disintegration

I was dissapointed when it was revealed as what it is.

  • Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia is coming out this month and I kind of want to highlight even if I'm not excited for it personally. It's the 2nd Brigandine game, and I wonder how many people remember that the first game was a PS1 strategy RPG released in 1998. I look back at that period of gaming as being especially rife with strategy/tactical RPGs. We pretty much had multiple such series starting and continuing, as well as one-off properties. I never dabbled in this one, but it seems to be appreciated by some to this day (at least in the context of "what were the worthwhile games in the PS1 library?" type discussions).

  • Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia has me kinda excited(fire emblem vibes), but will wait for the reception of it,

desparados 3 is interesting but i likely wont have time for it with xenoblade.

obviously will play TLOU2 but am personally not that excited for it, i don't like the uncharted games much though TLOU was my fave out of naughty dogs modern games and the dodging mechanics and heavy stealth look promising.

note: i am expecting to like TLOU2 quite a bit but i expect doom, FF7 and cyberpunk to beat it out by years end.

  • Command & Conquer Remastered Collection gets released tomorrow June 5th for PC.

  • I think I might pick up Ys. Memories of Celceta if it's a decent price to tide me over until Last of Us. I've a bit of a soft spot for the series. Hopefully Nihon Falcom will re-release some more of their back catalogue in the future on current systems.

  • @paulmci27 I'm also tempted by Celceta on PS4, Ys 8 is an absolute gem and 9 doesn't seem to be coming soon.

  • @bard91 It seems to play very simular to 8. That fast paced combat system. Even looks like the same game engine.

  • I'm obviously as stoked for Last of Us Part 2 as most everyone else. The first one is one of my favorites, and I've just been on media blackout for the last couple months in anticipation for Part 2. Looking forward to pulling those blinds shut at the end of the day to uncomfortably settle in with that.

For a smaller title, Konami just dropped a game called Skelattack a couple days ago that looks like a ton of fun for the October game list I keep around. It was developed by a small team called Ukuza who to my knowledge only have one other release and are a pretty small studio. Looks like a pretty charming little Metroid-Vania sort of deal with some jolly Halloween vibes though!

  • @happygaming I need to hear impressions from someone who actually played Skelattack. I think Damiani called it uninspired looking or something like that, and I can't say he's wrong, but it also looks fun enough to me from the trailers. I gotta hear from someone who's actually taken the dive on it though.

  • @mbun Agreed! It doesn't look perfect, and the jokey tone in the trailer isn't really my thing, but if it goes on sale around Halloween, I'd be down to give it a low stakes couple nights.

I've got a soft spot for skeletons.

  • Beyond blue mainly to pretend I'm David Attenborough

  • Beyond Blue arrives tomorrow. This seems almost like a scientific game. A really soothing-looking underwater journey to study marine life. I think I was sold pretty much immediately, I'll most likely get this ASAP. It's for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
