30 Day Music challenge
-
As I said before I already got a head start, but let's just pretend that didn't happen. Here's my picks up until Day 5.
Day 1: The New Colossus - Mick Gordon (Wolfenstein II: TNC). I love the slow buildup and the badass climax.
Day 2: N.Sanity Beach - Josh Mancell (Crash Bandicoot). The first level's so memorable, and this track is a big part of it for me.
Day 3: New Messiah - Hidehiro Funauchi (Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge). The PS4 Castlevania Collection's worth it, just to stumble upon this track.
Day 4: A Thief's End - Henry Jackman (Uncharted 4: A Thief's End). My personal favorite version of Nate's theme.
Day 5: Lei Havina - Kohei Tanaka (Gravity Rush 2). The anthem of the upper class: blissful and carefree.
-
-
Day 5: Chrono Trigger - 1000 AD
Youtube Videoone of the few RPGs I've ever really gotten into. It's not a classic for nothin.

@oscillator When I saw console exclusive, I figured it to mean only on one of the competing consoles, with PC completely out of the equation. Like by that logic, any XBOX exclusive game wouldn't count because they put them on Windows 10.
Xbox's "everything on PC" policy only started with Xbox One.
I don't see how "console-exclusive" can mean anything besides "only on consoles". And that said, @bam541 , Uncharted has had Vita and mobile entries.

I would still count it if it's only on Vita, but mobile is definitely out of the room, so fair enough, lol. I'll unofficially replace it with Dreams' old home space theme (day 4).

Day 5: Hub world or overworld music
This one popped right into my mind. Such a beautiful theme by Kyd in a wonderful game I love.
Darksiders 2: Jesper Kyd / The Makers Theme

@sentinel-beach Whoa I didn't know Jesper Kyd did the soundtrack for Darksiders 2. I might have to check that game out.

Day 5
I think this qualifies and when I was looking through my games list for ideas it immediately came to mind to a song I loved hearing while playing this adorable little game.

-
Day 6: The Last Guardian - Forest - Takeshi Furukawa
This reminds me of SoTC's "Prayer" a lot, which also could drive me into a state of blissful stupor.
-
-
-
Day 6: Nights into Dreams - Gate of Your Dream
Youtube VideoOne of my favorite games of all time. And no I don't know why there's a Home Alone clip sampled in this song but it is kinda neat.

Day 6
People talk a lot about the music in Nier Automata, and for good reason, but the original has it easily beat in my mind, and this song in particular is easily the most soothing and of the best used songs in gaming, there are few moments in gaming that have been as impactful as when Song of the Ancients started playing in the distance when you went out into the field and you could hear it louder and clearer as you went near Devola, magical.

That song is what convinced me to keep playing Nier, granted I think I missed it the first 2-3 times thru the town (think I was playing with almost no volume because it was like 3am when I initially started Nier) but damn once I heard that something just clicked, along with all of Niers music just being a step above most anything else I could think of, something where despite the lyrics being basically gibberish there was just this sense of emotion to it all .
Seeing as you took Song of the Ancients I'm gonna post this for my Day 6 post, and to spread more Nier love.
And just for because I love these two reprisals/ remixes

@bard91 I was gonna post this myself but felt like I shouldn't since I never got very far in that game. Easily one of the most relaxing songs in any game I've ever played.
I was also thinking of posting this but I felt like if I did my posts would quickly spiral into seeing how many categories I could fit a Sonic track into. That franchise just has some of the best OSTs in general.
-
@hanabi Well hopefully the remaster comes out well and soon cause it is very much worth playing specially if they can iron out the rough edges it had.

Day 7 : ABZU - Delphinus Delphis - Austin Wintory
The music of this game is so essential to the experience. It's just as, if not more, beautiful than the visuals.
