Halo (franchise) - Official Discussion Thread

I wish they added player collision. It’s pretty unbalanced in a lot of scenarios.
-
@bigdude1 not just collision.
I've been noticing lag's been happening alot more the last couple of days. Like i'll start shooting someone and then a few seconds later they will teleported slightly over.
It happens sometimes when trying to beat people down too
-
-
@yoshi iv had that happen too, like the whole world gets shifted around from the lag.

How Microsoft’s Halo Infinite Went From Disaster to Triumph
I used Incognito to open it. I think VPN should work as well. I haven't read yet.
I'd love to see a Schreier article about VTMB2. I am really longing for any straightforward insight about that game.

played the first half hour of campaign. it's pretty fun so far. excited to keep playing after work
-
@yoshi Has Infinite unseated Dread as your GOTY?
-
Played 4h straight, rare thing for me. There's some rough stuff in here, above all the cutscenes, ouch! pretty atrocious stuttering. Terrible way to open the game.
But... Gameplay is phenomenal, hands down best in the series. Sound design superb too.
-
@jdincinerator never. what is this blasphemy? also i'm still more addicted to Pokemon Unite than i am to Halo right now
-
@phbz what platform are you playing on?
-
@bigdude1 Series X
-
Going to play it sometime tonight hopefully. Wanted to start it yesterday, but work killed me....and probably will kill me again today tbh
-
@phbz I didn’t really notice any cutscene issues but maybe I just missed them
-
@bigdude1 I think it's a bug and 343 are already trying to fix it. Cinematics are not smooth at all, all choppy.
-
Knowing that it's a bit buggy makes me feel even more validated by just waiting. Considering a new PC around Feb-March and hopefully the game is buttery smooth by then.
It runs half decent in MP after that patch but I bring the resolution down 60% so my draw distance is noticeably reduced. The desync issues are documented pretty amazingly in this post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/r78moa/halo_infinite_has_a_major_desync_problem_which_is/
This is probably why you keep getting killed from behind walls, or you swear to god you have landed 4 headshots with the BR, yet, you still die. Because on the server side of things, you are probably running into a wall and spamming grenades or some nonsense that you aren't actually doing. TBH—it isn't ruining MP for me, and I've experienced worse lag in launch COD before. But the broken melee with no solid feedback for when you land a melee and just sliding past or through your enemy after the first beat down is really really really annoying.
I'm not an angry gamer and I played Infinite this week after a pretty stressful day of work. I expected it to work as a distraction to let off steam. Nope! The melee bullshit just made me even more pissed off. Had to turn it off.
-
@dipset I've noticed things getting worse online, not only me being killed because of that but also me killing people when I probably shouldn't. Like they go running past a corner and dying a significant fraction of a second after being out of sight. Melee got weird too, both ways also. Not much of an online guy so I just stopped playing.
I was trying to resist and waiting for some campaign patches but I couldn't resist, it's been pretty smooth during gameplay and incredibly fun. I really hope they do more single player chapters. But waiting might be the wisest thing to do.

Here's some videos to add fuel to this beat down flame. I've been victim to this bullshit.

@phbz I think the melee was supposed to be fixed when they added enemy collision

Really liking the campaign so far.
