Halo (franchise) - Official Discussion Thread

Going to play it sometime tonight hopefully. Wanted to start it yesterday, but work killed me....and probably will kill me again today tbh
-
@phbz I didn’t really notice any cutscene issues but maybe I just missed them
-
@bigdude1 I think it's a bug and 343 are already trying to fix it. Cinematics are not smooth at all, all choppy.
-
Knowing that it's a bit buggy makes me feel even more validated by just waiting. Considering a new PC around Feb-March and hopefully the game is buttery smooth by then.
It runs half decent in MP after that patch but I bring the resolution down 60% so my draw distance is noticeably reduced. The desync issues are documented pretty amazingly in this post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/r78moa/halo_infinite_has_a_major_desync_problem_which_is/
This is probably why you keep getting killed from behind walls, or you swear to god you have landed 4 headshots with the BR, yet, you still die. Because on the server side of things, you are probably running into a wall and spamming grenades or some nonsense that you aren't actually doing. TBH—it isn't ruining MP for me, and I've experienced worse lag in launch COD before. But the broken melee with no solid feedback for when you land a melee and just sliding past or through your enemy after the first beat down is really really really annoying.
I'm not an angry gamer and I played Infinite this week after a pretty stressful day of work. I expected it to work as a distraction to let off steam. Nope! The melee bullshit just made me even more pissed off. Had to turn it off.

@dipset I've noticed things getting worse online, not only me being killed because of that but also me killing people when I probably shouldn't. Like they go running past a corner and dying a significant fraction of a second after being out of sight. Melee got weird too, both ways also. Not much of an online guy so I just stopped playing.
I was trying to resist and waiting for some campaign patches but I couldn't resist, it's been pretty smooth during gameplay and incredibly fun. I really hope they do more single player chapters. But waiting might be the wisest thing to do.

Here's some videos to add fuel to this beat down flame. I've been victim to this bullshit.

@phbz I think the melee was supposed to be fixed when they added enemy collision

Really liking the campaign so far.

Im actually bored playing Halo infinite. the open world they did is very ubisoft like.
Back to Deathloop.
-
@b-cell yeah the campaign i'm getting bored with.
I'm loving the multiplayer though
-
@b-cell it’s a big mish mash of a lot of open world games. With some mgsv, shadow of Mordor and botw elements. Ultimately it feels like they could have went further but they didn’t want to sacrifice the halo feel.
-
And finished…
Light spoilers
it was a good ending but the complaints of the repetitiveness of the environments are apt. Also it feels too much has happened between 5 and infinite to get your bearings on what Cortana was up to. It was like they were closing on her story between the games.
-
I find it to be a shame that so many people can't even play Halo 5 before Infinite because it's not on PC. If I'm not mistaken, you can't even stream it over Game Pass cloud. It makes no sense to have any connecting tissue to the Halo 5 plot if:
A) Many people disliked the story anyways, and
B) You can play Halo 1-4 and Infinite on PC but not 5...Not that I really want to play Halo 5 much anyways since I've heard it has the worst Campaign mode, but by the sounds of it, a YouTube synopsis isn't very helpful in catching you up either.
-
@dipset it does have connections but it feels like there is a game’s worth of content in between. I didn’t play halo wars 2 so idk if that content is there.
-
Atriox is in Halo Wars 2. i haven't finished halo wars 2 though. that game was so weird compared to the first halo wars game
-
@yoshi what’s the timeframe for that
-
@bigdude1 from the wiki
"Halo Wars 2 takes place in the science fiction universe of the Halo series. The game is set in 2559, 28 years after the events of Halo Wars and shortly after the events of Halo 5: Guardians."
Halo wars 2 was weird and felt nothing like the original Halo wars though so i only completed a couple of the campaign levels and then never bothered finishing the campaign so i couldn't say how long the campaign is
